A horribly stressful experience!!! It's quite obvious they have changed ownership! I went in person 1 week in advance to upload my pet's (puppy) vaccine records, fill out their paperwork etc. so he could board for the day. It was his first time so I wanted to make sure everything went very smoothly. Plus I knew I would be in a hurry that morning as I was leaving for a trip. I was at Pooches by 6:50am with his food, toys and blankets ready to check-in quickly and leave. The girl at the front desk refused to check him in! The front desk took his vaccination records 1 week earlier and told me I was "good to go." I asked what else I could do ie fax over duplicate records from my Vet but they weren't answering their phone. I was on a VERY tight schedule and had no choice but to quickly run him back home for the day then scramble to find an available friend who "might" be able to go by and take him out while I'm gone for the day. He's never been left alone for more than 4 hours so there's NO way he could stay 8+ hours unattended. I will highly NOT recommend Pooches to everyone I know. They are clearly quite unorganized, unprofessional and extremely unreliable! read more

I cannot say enough good things about this place! Please note that I'm usually against boarding my dogs and have a dog walker come to the house to let them out and feed as needed. However, I did not have that luxury for my last business trip, so I chose Pooches based on its reviews. Thank you Yelpers! Favorite Pros - Our dogs were let out to potty every 2-3 hours. This is rare to find at a boarding place. My regular vet only lets dogs out twice a day when boarding, and that is unacceptable. I've never found a boarding place that lets them out more than three times per day until now. I didn't pay for my dogs to do doggy daycare since they are older, but they still received a lot of attention from the staff. How do I know? My dogs always show their clear dislike of boarding when I pick them up, but when I picked them up from Pooches, they were happy, and I could tell they actually enjoyed it for once! The staff also posted happy pictures of my pugs with the staff on their Facebook page. - They have a quiet room if you prefer. My dogs are older, so I got them a large run in the quiet room. The non-quiet room is quite loud. They do daily tours at 6:30pm, so I recommend you do that first! - They gave my dogs their special wet/dry mixed food and medications without extra charge. Most places will charge you for these types of extras, but not Pooches! - They sell a variety of good quality treats, collars, harnesses, and other accessories, but they also give you a discount card to the cute dog boutique shop a few doors down. - They have staff to take care of the dogs from around 6am (sometimes 5:30am) until 10pm at night with a security system in place. - The entire facility was very cool and wonderful for the dogs. By "very cool" I mean the A/C was turned down and kept the entire place chilled, which is great for those of us with breeds (like pugs) who cannot take heat well. - The staff is super nice, and their is ample parking out front. The place didn't smell like urine, but it didn't smell good either. It smelled like dogs, haha. I'm sensitive to smells, and it didn't bother me. The main room was just really loud, so I loved the quiet room. It looked clean otherwise, and they even gave my pugs complimentary baths after their 5 night stay! The only "con" I thought we would incur is that their outdoor potty area is concrete, not grass. My pugs are extremely picky, and I feared they wouldn't go on concrete. The staff assured us they've never had a dog avoid the concrete, and worst case, they would walk the dogs out front to potty by bushes and small patches of grass. Everything turned out well though, I'm surprised and happy. I highly recommend them! read more

This is my favorite business in Tulsa, hands down. We don't need an appointment for weekday day care, they can bathe them while they are in day care, and you get free bath cards if you buy a large daycare package or board for a certain amount of time. Those little perks mean a lot. The staff is wonderful, both the morning and afternoon staff know me and my dogs. I love the 'Hi Cici!' and 'Bye Jude!' from the employees when my dogs arrive or leave. The facility is extremely clean and offers tours during certain hours. The owners are amazing and very present around if you have concerns (although the staff is more than competent enough to handle things). They are flexible, accommodating, and care about the safety of the animals. I have no complaints whatsoever, I adore this place so much I would like a downtown location! They helped me out a lot when Cici was lost, when I had fosters for a rescue, and they are always involved with rescue events. This is truly a business who is it in because they love dogs, and their customer service is outstanding. read more

I recently brought my dog in to be groomed at Pooches and wanted to share about my poor experience. First, the cut he was given was not according to his breed. Second, his nails were left extremely sharp (to which the front desk responded that they could smooth them out for an extra $5, or I could take him on a walk on concrete to smooth them out... I had never heard of a place charging extra to have smooth nails. Also, I walked him on concrete for a week and his nails were still sharp) These were just minor offenses though, I could get over the above. The MUCH bigger concerns are: First, my dog's anal glands were not suppressed, as they should be during a grooming. Second, water was left in my dog's ears, which gave him an ear infection. Third, he has been terrified of his kennel ever since being brought home from the facility, despite never having an issue prior. Because of all of these reasons, my husband and I have confidently decided that we will not be returning our dog to Pooches. Additionally, in the hopes that the facility would like to improve, I sent an email to them prior to writing a review. It has been one week and I have received no response. Because of this, I will assume that improving is not of interest to them, and I therefore would like to warn other dog owners of this inadequate grooming (and I presume, boarding) facility. read more

Pooches is very similar to The Pawparazzi Lounge in OKC, which I've also reviewed. It's an all-day "playcare" with boarding services also. You do not have to call ahead for playcare, just boarding. Pooches divides dogs into small, medium and large groups for the best and safest play. They will also separate older dogs or dogs who are unable or unwilling to play that day. Their facility is big and clean. They also post pics to their FB page, which is fun. Their staff is very warm and welcoming, although I think they remember my dog much better than they remember me. At least they have Tootsie Roll Pops at the front counter for my enjoyment. The best part about Pooches is they are flexible. You can drop your dog anytime of day and and pay the same amount. They provide food so you don't have to bother with it. Just take your dog on a leash and know he/she will have a blast at Pooches! read more

Update 7/26/17 Ive boarded my dog here several times now and they must take great care of him. He doesn't seem to miss us at all and I think they probably play with him more than we do at home (we play with him quite a bit)! Update 6/26/14 Pooches must have read my previous Yelp review, because I brought my dog in for daycare/grooming today and everything was perfect? Every complaint I had previously was dealt with. He still whined when I dropped him off, but was less resistant about entering the building. Drop off/pick up was extremely fast and efficient. No complaints about the groomers. 5/22/14 Pros: Gigantic, huge, new facility. Really easy to make reservations for grooming with lots of different times available. They don't require reservations for day care. Large private parking lot with plenty of parking. Cons: My dog possibly hates coming here. When we see the building he starts to whine. I'm confused because he meekly goes with the employees when I hand over his leash? When I call during the day to check up on him, they have positive things to report? Another thing, I dislike how impersonal this place is. He's been to day cares in Phoenix, AZ and Houston, TX; and the employees there always knew his name and recognized me as his owner. Here, he's "Franklin the black Pomeranian." There are way too many dogs there if I have to identify my dog my name and breed. There are that many dogs named Franklin there? Every time I pick up/drop off there are a bunch of people waiting around for their dogs. Too many dogs. Additionally, the last time he went here, he came home with a right leg bleed. Either another dog bit him or the dog groomer nicked him and didn't tell us. At his previous day care, Franklin LOVED the dog groomer. He followed her around all day long. That dog groomer would never have nicked him. These are all the reasons why we do not take Franklin there every day (like we used to do with his other day care programs in other cities). Unfortunately, this is the only day care option we have here in Tulsa and we must continue to use this business when we expect long work days. read more

Horrible place. This is the third time we have given this place a chance only because there aren't many choices for boarding in midtown. All three times we have boarded our dog while on vacation and reserved a spot for her to receive a wash and cut. This is the third time that we have picked her up after a week and she has not been cut. This time she smelled of vomit and was missing her bedding from her crate. The guy at the counter didn't know what he was doing and seemed clueless. The first two times despite our dog having all of the appropriate shots including Bordetella, she contracted kennel cough and had to be immediately put on antibiotics. We will never use this high priced, poor customer service facility again. read more

We arrived for our 1st of 3 training sessions with our 2 year old labradoodle at Pooches. The instruction was good. The trainer proceeded to ask me what I fed my dog and that she was fat. I was open and listened. She then said it looked like I needed to schedule a vision test for my dog. The explanation she gave was that when two pure breeds mate, the bad traits appear in doodles! My advice is to keep to training and supporting pet owners and keep personal opinions of a particular breed to yourself Pooches! read more

I can not say enough good things about Pooches. it means the world to have a place to leave your buddy for the day or for an extended stay. When we pull into the parking lot my pup jumps in my lap to get her leash on and drags me inside. She is always greeted by name and never looks back at me. It's great to have an option on hot summer days or rainy days for her to go and play, run off some energy and come home tired. The grooming is great and Nancy and Luanna go the extra mile if you have any extra needs. I made an appointment to get my dog groomed there two weeks ago. I was told that I was just paying for a grooming. I go to drop my dog off for his appointment and they dont have him down in the books at all. Then i was told id have to pick him up at a later time, pay extra for boarding, and not get the full grooming package. Probably will not be coming back here again. Seemed over crowded too. read more

Husband and I walked in on a Monday evening. Well we were not a fan. We wanted to get some info and see what all they had. We walked in with his service dog, the people working the counter did not say a word to us. Which is a problem for us!! We are people that do not have kids so our dogs are our life and that service dog is my husband best friend. There was another problem, an overwhelming smell of pee. I've never been in a place that smelled that bad! We were in there for about 10 mins and no one asked if we needed anything. There were a few things we wanted to buy but we walked out because we didn't get waited on and the smell was getting us. I would not leave my dogs in a place that smelled that bad but over all looked cleaned. read more

Pooches might be good at the doggie day care, but do not use their grooming services. Last month, I had to wait 45 minutes after they already had my Westie four hours. This month, they said my dog was infested with fleas and gave her medication without my knowledge or permission. As I had the dog at the vet's the day before, I know she was not infested with fleas unless she got them at Pooches. Had they contacted me, I would have picked up my dog as she was already on medication and had just been vaccinated at the vet's the day before. Giving any medication or treatment without owner permission is wrong!!! read more

Pooches is amazing. They provide daycare, training, grooming, and boarding services for dogs. We've used them for daycare - drop off and pick up your pup anytime between 7am and 6:30 pm any weekday without an appointment. (Saturdays require a call, first.) If we ever have to board a dog, we'd do it here without worry. We work long hours and have a rambunctious foster puppy. She's a whirlwinding devil all evening if left crated, but comes home from Pooches content, happy, and SLEEPY. She absolutely loves other dogs thanks to her good experiences at puppy daycare. Everyone there has been cheerful and compassionate, even though I'm sure their jobs must be exhausting. They work with dogs of all ages and temperaments, except unhealthy or aggressive dogs. They also meet my 5 star criteria of being a local business, run by women! Awesome! PLUS they work with local rescues to help board, socialize, and care for animals looking for their forever homes. We couldn't be the foster parents we are without Pooches to help us out. read more

We take our Golden here when traveling for business or pleasure. Staff is always friendly and remembers our dog. I LOVE POOCHES! But more importantly, MY DOGS LOVE POOCHES!!!! Every time we leave town, my dogs are excited because they get to take a vacation of their own at this canine utopia! As soon as we pull into the all-too-familiar parking lot, all three of my pups go wild! I have honestly been known to book overnight stays out of sheer guilt for not traveling enough, just so they can play with their friends. (Yes, I'm one of "those" moms...) Each and every staff member knows my dogs by name and I love that! The facility is spacious, clean, and has the coolest boutique in the lobby with all things canine for us "dog-lovers." The owners are extremely approachable and friendly which also puts me at ease. I also love that they are a full-service business for dogs. They have excellent groomers and trainers on staff to meet all of their clients' needs. I have utilized ALL of their services and have never been less than thrilled with my results. (This includes my special request for them to dye my Saint Bernard purple and green , as well as private obedience sessions with my hyperactive pug...) As if all of this isn't enough to warrant your patronage, let me offer you one last fact that makes my heart swell with adoration for these people: Pooches donates services, time and fund raising to adoption groups in Tulsa!! The lowest score I can give is 1 star, but I do not feel that Pooches even deserves that. The storefront overwhelmingly smells like powder deodorant (that you spray in your bathroom 'when needed'). Behind the scenes are dozens of dogs. None of them get one on one attention. The dog area WREAKS of urine.. I mean WREAKS. I was in the dog area less than five minutes and I had a headache from 'a hundred dogs' barking and I was ready to vomit from the overwhelming urine smell. (it was then that I understood the 'need' for the overwhelming powder spray smell in the front room) Pooches reluctantly worked with my dog for just a short time, trying to get her acclimated to a play group, but quickly grew tired of this and they put her in a cage for the rest of the time and forgot about her. And instead of calling me and saying "this isn't working"..they just left my dog in a cage and charged me for a half day of daycare! Plus, when I picked up my dog, they made a 'scrunchie face' and in a begrudging sing-song tone of voice said through clenched teeth: well....if you want...... (pause/scrunched up yucky face).....maybe.... we could try again another day......(pause/scrunched up yucky face)...if you want....... pause...... My dog was just a number. My dog was just a couple of bucks to them, and they couldn't be bothered working with her. I was shocked that they 'admitted' it (with the sing song/scrunchie face half assed offer to 'try again'). Apparently this atmosphere works for some dogs because there were dozens there. But not my dog. I'll never subject my dog to that kind of uncleanliness, that kind of dismissive attitude, that level of lack of real care... If you only want your dog to be a number, and don't care about the cleanliness, then Pooches is for you. If you feel your dog should be treated with care and concern, if you feel your dog is more than "a number" and/or a "dollar figure"...and if you expect a place to work harder (MUCH HARDER) at cleanliness, then stay away from here. read more

Really disappointed!! We are new to the area and were looking for somewhere to take our year old lab mix for daycare. We do not have kids so this is our baby and I am willing to travel a littler farther and pay a little more for exceptional service and care. This had decent reviews and a convenient location. I called the day before visiting to ask if we needed to make an appointment. Whoever I spoke with was clearly distracted and I had to repeat myself more than once. Ultimately, I was told we could get a tour anytime from 9a - 4:30p Monday through Friday and from 10a - 1p on Saturdays. So my husband left work a little early so we could stop in Friday around 4:15p to check things out. When we got there we were greeted by someone doing check outs. I explained why we were there and was told I could only get a pamphlet because they don't do tours at check out time. I explained I had called the day before and was told 9a-4:30p M-F but APPARENTLY it's only those hours Monday to Thursday. I guess no tours on Friday? Clearly a communication error. She offered for us to come back for a SCHEDULED tour at 10a OR at 1p Saturday (again, NOT what I was told on the phone the day prior). I explained we made a special trip and asked if we could at least have a brief tour and I was willing to wait a few mins if that was more convenient for them. At that point, I was completely ignored while she continued checking current clients out. (Side note: They must be a high volume place because they have to call pets by name AND breed). That's a terrible way to treat a potential new client. We just left without taking any information and visited another daycare that was AWESOME. Maybe I caught them on two consecutive bad days but it looks like they did us a favor... read more

Pooches is absolutely fantastic and a life saver. I am a new-ish dog mom and my puppy is has a ton of energy. I have had a wonderful experience with Pooches and have been a customer for a little over a month. I called 3 or 4 times the first day I took her in to check on her and they were so gracious in assuring me she was having a good time. They know Margot by name when walking in, even though we only go a couple times a week. I have noticed they know all dogs by name and even recognize the owners when picking their dogs up. Margot gets so excited when she sees us pulling up to Pooches. So I know she loves going there. The facility is clean and the staff is always so friendly. They can groom your dog while she/he is there and it's so nice to not have to make an extra trip somewhere for that. Margot is always happily exhausted when she leaves and it gives me the peace of mind while I'm at work that she is in good hands. I would highly recommend Pooches to anyone with a dog. read more
