The owner of this business David Eugene King took my 15 thousand dollars in 2021 made multiple promises of when my boat will be done. In March of 2023 I learned he has now moved to Mexico with my money and multiple other people's money. He also took all of the seats off of my boat and sold them leaving me an empty shell of a boat with no refurbishing done. At this point I'm not sure he winterized the motor in 2021 when he picked it up. A note to others who have lost money to Mr. King,. Do a review, contact the Kosciusco sheriff department and file a report, lastly file with the Indiana attorney general. UPDATE 03.26.2023 Today I picked up my pontoon boat from Pontoon Restoration company. The propeller and motor were in the dirt and in a puddle. It is possible that the motor may have to be rebuilt or replaced due to it sitting in water for 2 winters. Also all of my seats are GONE! They were seats from 2005 and in fair condition with no tears. I understand that Mr King sold the seats on Facebook marketplace. I am bout how much money the customers had already paid him which in many cases was well over 50%. The new owner could not have basically done all of the refurbishment for 25% of the fee. In my case the new owner would have had to buy new seats a new cover, new railing and new vinyl for the floor but would have only received 3-4 thousand for his work, less than the materials cost. David King took my down payment in November of 2021, never completed my pontoon, finally in April 2023 I confronted him face to face and he said he sold the business to a Terry Bartley! And Terry said he could not honor the contracts, but we had talked to him before he bought the company. My question is what kind of business man would buy a company without checking the books or wonder why there were at least 44 pontoons waiting to be worked on. We warned him of what had happened to us and he still went ahead and bought supposedly the business. On January 17th of 2022 David King of Pontoon Restoration Co. LLC came to our home to discuss complete restoration of our pontoon. We signed a 5 page contract and he left with our boat and 7,000.00 to start the Reno. My husband could not get David to respond to his messages. We retained a Lawyer in order to get a copy of contract, when it finally arrived it had several pages added to it that we'd never seen. Last Sunday we found out that David King had sold said business and had obsconded with our money and several other people's money, he has fled the country. David King took thousands of dollars from all his clients with no restorations started and/or completed. We went to Warsaw and retrieved our pontoon, it is in worse condition due to sitting outside uncovered for 16 months. He needs to be forced to makes restitution to all affected. read more
