However there have been many disagreements when they overcharge, don't honor the prices marked, or provide the incorrect change. When addressed with the owner it is not met with a tone of someone that appreciates your business, instead it is responded to in an aggressive, agitated, and irritated manner. We ALWAYS came here even though they are typically a few dollars more and now that has come to an end. I just purchased a monster energy drink for $2.66 and gave a $20 bill. They gave me back $12.34. So clearly they forgot to provide adequate change and missed a $5.00. I realized this and asked for them to kindly provide me the rest of my change to which he replied you're lying, get out, I'm calling the cops. Wow! This guy just got away with petty theft. $5 isn't anything to stress over, but it's the principle. I hope he continues his level of poor service, continues to lose customers, and is forced to close.

I am not over in Newtown too often but when I stop in here I end up browsing for 20 minutes minimum! The selection includes many less common breweries and seasonal beers. IPA's, saisons, stouts, sours, wheat bears, ciders, lagers both foreign and domestic are all pretty well covered. I've never gone out of my way to ask any questions of the staff or make any requests, they seem friendly enough but certainly not falling all over themselves to be attentive, maybe they figured I wanted some space to browse. Bottle Stop also seems to have a large verity of wines and spirits obviously but those aren't really my thing so I am going to assume their inventory is as well thought out in that department too, at least it looked that way to me.

After Kips death I did start visiting my favorite wine store in Ridgefield, CT., - ANCONAS. Last night I made a run to Anconas for a bottle of wine. Working that night were the wonderful, Jackie & Eddie, both the best of people AND both dog rescue parents themselves. Jackies rescue pup's name is, Cash, as in, Johnny Cash, a Tennessee rescue. I am from Nashville and worked for Rosanne Cash and Rodney Crowell as Creative Director of their office, RC Square In the mid-80's. Anyway, last night at Anconas Jackie and Eddie asked how I was doing I having shared our loss with them. Well, I broke down in tears as it was NOT a good day. I quickly made my apologies, paid for my wine, and left in tears. Just as I was about to put my car in reverse I heard a tap on my window and THERE WAS EDDIE! I rolled down the window and he said, "Melissa. Please take this from Jackie and I, and know we at Anconas all being animal lovers want you to know we care." Eddie handed me a bagged bottle of wine! I WAS BEYOND TOUCHED! How very KIND was THIS! So for my friends and neighbors please know that not only does ANCONAS wine have a fabulous selection of wines these are just THE BEST of people! My hat goes off to Mitch and Deb for having such a Great - Fabulous team!! Thank you! Jackie, Eddie, sweet Emma and All your fine Staff that take that extra step and CARE for your patrons!
