Treasure Chest House: There was more, but I didn't take…read morepictures of everything. The bottom of the standup shower was mildewy nasty. Check-in isn't till four. When my daughter got there the key that was left for her didn't work. She spent 45 minutes out in the rain trying to contact somebody because everybody was gone, she finally called the sheriffs department to try and find out the owner's name and he told her to try reaching out on Facebook messenger. So she called on Facebook messenger someone answered and they gave her the emergency code to the side door so she could finally get in. All the remotes don't work on the TVs, there's a cable screwed into the back of them, but they only have antenna. Which is fine because it's a camping type experience but at least all the remotes should work so you can at least watch something when you're laying in bed at night. Dishwasher was there but never installed or hooked up and it's not mounted so when you open the door it almost falls out on you. And good luck getting a hold of anybody on the emergency line. The place could burn down and they wouldn't know till the next day. The noise cut off there is midnight so if you're trying to go to sleep at 10 PM, good luck because they allow everyone there to continue to make noise until midnight including loud music with high base, and they're allowed to ride their quads, and four wheelers around until midnight, shining their headlights into your cabin. On a high note, the property was clean. All the slides have been fixed in the kids area, but they allow people to blast their music really loud overshadowing anybody else's music, including loud music with inappropriate lyrics and language for the kids area. There was nobody walking around, asking them to change the music or turn it down to be considerate for others you just had to deal with it. For $1000 for two nights it was really unacceptable for the price.

I only got three hours of sleep and had to get back on the road to drive a long way back home tired and upset. I would not recommend going there because customer service even worse.

If you are heading…read morewest along I-10 to this hotel, it won't be that long after crossing time zones from Eastern to Central. My stay here was on the night of August 24, 2022. Getting to this hotel from I-10 was pretty easy and was easy to find as well. There was ample parking available when we got here, but if the hotel was busier, I think parking may be limited. After getting parked, I went inside to get checked in and get keys for the room and check out the room. The room is your standard room with two queen beds. We headed out to get some dinner before coming back. After getting back from eating, it was time to check out what the hotel had to offer. I started with the lobby area and main entrance. One thing of note was that as soon as you come into the lobby, they did have some type of scent in that area. I don't know if it was to mask something else, but it definitely set off my allergies and gave a low-grade headache, so I tried to limit time in this area. This lobby area has lots of seating there, along with the breakfast area. There is also an area for laundry. Before going outside, there is an exercise room available with various options. Then I made my way outside to check out the pool area. The pool is a nice size and looked good. Although most of the public use areas such as the exercise room, laundry, etc. would require the key card to gain access, this was not the case here on this visit. After checking out the grounds, it was time to get back to the room and start to settle in for the night. One thing that I did notice in the room that certain areas definitely show the age of the hotel, especially in the shower/tub area of the room (room 204). Also, I noticed in the rooms there were very few outlets and USB connections as well. That also lends to the age of the hotel. Another thing of note is that there was only a trash basket in the room. There was no separate recycling available. Now, for the sleeping and such. The beds were very comfortable. I had a really good night's sleep that night, as confirmed by my Fitbit as well. This is definitely an important aspect of a hotel, so this was really good. I was well rested the following morning. I went downstairs a little after 6 am when breakfast was available. Everything was already set up in there. Looking at the options though, on this experience, nothing really appealed to me. Everything was pretty much pre-packaged items. One was ham and the other was sausage, of which neither I am a fan of. I did end up getting some orange juice though and had something else later that morning when we were back on the road. Overall, the hotel covers the bases anyone would look for. The beds were good and there were several things available to do on the property. I was just still not a fan of the lobby area due to that scent they had going that set off allergies and a headache. When it comes to pricing, I know prices for everything have been going up, but I definitely felt that I paid for a suite, even though I only did a regular room with two beds. With limited options in the area, I will still consider coming here again if my travels warrant it.

Let's face it: when it comes to Marriott owned hotels, it's almost always proceeded with the…read morepresumption of prestigious excellence, am I right? Such is the case with the Fairfield Inn & Suites, but it doesn't come without some flaws. Let's discuss. Right as I walk into my room, I am immediately impressed. So much so, that I whip out the ol' camera and start snapping away. The single king bed suite that I got was immaculate and spacious. Imagine my surprise to discover that there were, not one, but TWO televisions in the room; one in the bedroom portion of the room and the other right next to the work area. It all had a very professional feel to it. The two end tables in the living room type area came in very handy, too. I suspect the dual TV thing was due to the fact that it had a pull-out couch in the room. The service here is extremely cordial also. In fact, one of the cleaning ladies complimented me by saying, "Ah, so YOU'RE the clean gentleman that stays here!" I took that as a big compliment, because I realize she appreciated the fact that I don't come into hotel rooms and trash the place. I tend to keep all my used towels in one pile for them and leave the place generally de-cluttered. I figure the cleaning staff in most hotels have to deal with some pretty horrific stuff, so I try to keep it as convenient for them as I possible can. And, of course, no really fine hotel is complete without some type of complimentary breakfast (a legitimate one, that is), but there are a few flaws with this one. First, it could use a few more sides. They basically feature eggs, bacon or sausage, various breads and cereals. What would have been nice to see is some variant of starch, hashbrowns or potatoes. I know it can be done because I've seen less luxurious hotels pull it off. Second thing is...they could restock their food a bit more whenever it gets low. Just this morning as I go down to hopefully enjoy some scrambled eggs, they were out. They were almost out of bacon, too. The thing is it was like 9am and they never even bothered to restock the eggs or bacon. The breakfast bar closes at 10. I'm not even sure the lady running the bar ever checked to see how many were left, because I sat there for a good 40 minutes just to see if she was going to bring out more. No such luck. I'm also a little disappointed that if you happen to take advantage of their WiFi upgrade for higher speed access, it doesn't even come close. I did a speed check and there is literally no discernable difference between the high speed package versus the complimentary one they provide. Deceiving. Ah well. No place is perfect; not even the 5 star ones. Still, this was a stellar stay which I would easily repeat. In fact, I just signed up for a Marriott rewards program which I hope to take advantage of real soon. I'm kind of kicking myself for not setting one up a long time ago, but I hardly get to travel as much as I'd like to these days. Far as I'm concerned, Fairfield Inn & Suites is 4 comfy king sized beds out of 5 worthy!
