I'm downgrading it greatly for the unbelievable amount of beer cans that I saw that seemed to literally litter every square foot of the trails. At one point I got off the ATV and counted every beer can I could see while I slowly turned around. I lost track at 57 beer cans. It was really heart-breaking. Why couldn't you have a couple of giant trash cans around the property and encourage people to pick up the beer cans and toss them here?

A cool 140-year-old home that comes with problems of a 140-year-old home. There are three cots in…read moremost bedrooms downstairs and those three people share one small bathroom. The cots have a thin mattress and a foam topper. They are cot frames not twin bed frames. The rooms were cold especially at night, but there was a chest with extra blankets. The tile in the bathrooms was very slippery when stepping out of the shower. We did not see bathmats. There's no place to put personal things in the bathrooms. The three bedrooms upstairs have larger beds but all share one bathroom, again with no shelves etc to put personal items. There are NOT black out drapes etc, in the bedrooms so I found it hard to sleep with the lights from buildings across the street shinning in my room. The place sets up tables etc for the number of people coming and what you are doing. For us they set up workplaces for each person, ironing boards, irons, power strips and towers. The printer is not wireless so you cannot print patterns etc from your phone or tablet. They put out a lot of cutting mats and rulers which was a big help. They have a mini store with some necessities. They said to fill out an order form, but we did not see any order forms. Really didn't see anything we needed but thought we would mention we did not see the order forms. The lake is beautiful and just across the street. In the summer, there is not a lot of the lake you can see from the house but it's a very short distance away. It is also worth your time to walk the main street 5th Ave. Cool older homes, local restaurants, antique stores. Loves the old buildings, hardware store, and pharmacy. Patio was full of leaves. As a group had left the day before we were surprised how it was not swept or blown off. The outside furniture needed to be cleaned off to use. Many dead roaches inside. Again, as an older house some is expected. Just be prepared. Almost all the restaurants are closed on Monday's and evenings so plan your meals accordingly. There is a great stocked kitchen. we found almost everything we needed. Ice maker makes a lot of noise, not to distract you from your crafting but the noise was scary the first time or two we heard it. We ran out of ziplock bags. If you are cooking and have left overs, bring bags or containers. There are really no sitting areas at least not with our set up. Not a problem for a quilting retreat but could be for a knitting retreat. There are a few chairs in the front bedroom and again in a bedroom upstairs. Great internet and cell phone service, no TVs, radios, or clocks. Kind of what you want at a retreat.

Secondary to the arrival of COVID a lot of the family were afraid to attend. The house was gorgeous and we had a great time. The owners were awesome. We had no problems. Were made to feel at home. We would like to go back and stay again when we could enjoy the town ,restaurants, stores and Lake and not have COVID restrictions. We surprised my sons girlfriend with this visit as she had looked at it for a possible wedding venue. We had a great time, playing board games, walking around the lake, enjoying this beautiful house. It will be an awesome memory for us.

The lady with a cane felt it was more important to mop floors that had dirty spots not water. Although, im trying to check in, drive 3 hrs to get here, the rain and wind is getting harder every minute, while we are running out of close parking spaces. Ended up on the 3rd flr, elevator acts like there are 100 stories, super slow. I was told no smoking but then it smells like weed. Mold in the shower. I asked for a cart, lady with cane said we'll we only have 2 and if you dont see it then their being used. You need to replace her. For what im paying I expect way more customer service. Bridges at Tartan Pines Golf Course…read more Who goes to a Golf Course to eat lunch or dinner; well, if you live in the Wiregrass area and are looking for delicious food prepared by a top notch Chef and kitchen staff in a cozy restaurant setting - The Bridges at Tarpan Pines is the right location. They have a great menu with options, to include a children's menu; indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the water; and a full service bar. We typically go there on Friday's for their Prime Rib dinner; and have also enjoyed the Texas Style BBQ plates on Saturdays - with the buffet style option on Wednesdays being a hit too. We've not been to the Sunday Brunch buffet - but have heard it is awesome. On the menu for us this past Friday were the Prime Rib dinners with potatoes and fresh asparagus; the Blackened Shrimp Kabobs with Mushroom Risotto and fresh vegetables, and the Southwest Chop Salad. The Prime Rib portion is generous and has a slight smoked taste, fits right in with the fresh horseradish sauce. The Shrimp Kabobs are two long skewers of Gulf Coast shrimp with a seasoned grill taste. On other occasions, we tried and recommend the Chicken Francese, a large chicken breast cooked to perfection in a lightly cream sauce on a bed of angel hair pasta and fresh vegetables; or the Skirt Steak with Chimichurri gently dusted across the top; or a lunch time Burger with Fries. Hard to imagine going to a golf course to eat, but at Tartan Pines it does have a two-in-one setting. The Pro Shop and golf on one side; and the restaurant / bar on the other side. Membership not required for either and open to the public. Pay them a visit and sit back and enjoy the view, sip a Classic Old Fashion, a glass of wine or refreshing Mixed Cocktail - even a cold draft beer while you wait for your food. Life does not get much better.

Additionally though the staff was nice the communication was lacking. When I checked in they asked me if I wanted room service everyday. I said yes, however ended up having to go ask for it because no one came for three days at one point. I also asked for a late check out, marylin was so nice and put a note on my account to allow me a late check out. I stopped by the front desk on my morning of check out specifally asked if the note was still in there (give my lack of trust from the room cleaning incident) and was told it was. I said "oh good because I'm going to shower and just didn't want someone walking in" fast forward three hours, I'm finishing packing and freshly out of the shower and a house keeper, without knocking walks into my room. I told the front desk upon checking out and the gentleman did comp me $25. Last thing was one weekday morning breakfast wasn't put out at 6am. I think someone was late for work, but no sign was posted and the front desk was not very apologetic. Over all everyone was nice, it was clean, breakfast was good, laundry worked well. And when I had issues with my government credit card at the end of stay they were very patient.
