Cheese Pizza, Spinach Slice, and a fountain Coke.
Alexis F.

Pompei pizza is a classic pizzeria in Rocky Point. Their pizza is a perfect balance of cheese and sauce, which can be hard to find at some places. The service is always quick and super nice. I love their NY style slices, while my mom enjoys their spinach slices.

$18.75

STAY FAR AWAY. Relatively new renovations look very nice. Unfortunately the prices have been adjusted to pay for both the renovations and a vacation for the owners. $18.75 for these 2 slices, 2 garlic knots, and a half filled side of sauce is a disgusting price from a disgusting pizzeria

Burned pizza.

It would be nice if the only three times I ever ordered from them, the pizza wasn't burned. EVERY SINGLE TIME. Ordered twice before the renovations, burned both times. Ordered again after the renovation hoping it changed. I mean, I know it's named Pompei, but maybe we don't need to put out pies that look like they went through a volcano?

When we got there, we found parking in front. It was around 3p on a Sunday. The place is spacious. They have large seating in front, a dining room and bar in the back, as well as a patio. I wanted to sit in the patio area but they have plants and herbs growing out there, and the bees have been festive this season. We ordered our pizza up front. The young lady that was helping us was very patient and nice. We ordered quite a few slices since they have a large selection. They heated everything up and put it all on trays for us. The condiments are neatly arranged near the pickup area. We sat and ate. The pizza was very good. I had a sauseej and roni sicilian, hubby had two slices of their chicken ranch, and our kiddo had their BBQ chicken slice, and a slice of a thicc sicilian circle pie - that thing was huge but really good! We ordered some drinks from the bar but we're a little disappointed that the juice they used is from a can. It has a fake taste and we didn't like that but everything else was on point. I'm sure you can't go wrong with a glass of wine. They have pizza kits and all kinds of other specialty pizzas. I was tempted to get a slice of their pepperoni slice with the garlic know crust. That would have been overkill for me. I made sure to grab menus so we can leave them over at the MIL's house for future ordering.

Pasta night takeout is the best value with very generous amount of food, more so than any other…read morepizza/Italian place around! And by the way, EVERY night is pasta night! Specials are not confined to certain days. We have lived in area over 20 years. There's no limit to pizza/Italian around here. It's why we had never come here before. Slightly out of our neighborhood area. We see the specials in the paper every week, and finally tried today. Well this will be our go to place for pasta dinners from now on! Not only do you get a nice portion of pasta, but also a side salad with all the good stuff on it (cucumber, roasted pepper, onion, cucumber & olives) PLUS 2 garlic bread sticks, PLUS a cannoli! All for $14!!? Food is good! Linguini with clam sauce nice portion of clams with shells, fettuccini Alfredo was thick & flavorful sauce. We also got a couple entrees..stuffed eggplant and Chicken Capri. Both very good. Don't know why we waited 20 years to go out of town to try this pizza place. We will be back..again & again for takeout. My husband was so taken with the portions, outstanding side salads and garlic sticks that he called the owner to compliment him and say we will be new loyal customers. I don't know about their pizza, but the food is solid with outstanding value

They also worked with us when we ordered pizzas for a birthday party, which made the whole experience even better. This time we ordered an eggplant hero (with Alfredo sauce instead of red sauce), an eggplant rollatini roll, and a meatball hero. The eggplant hero with Alfredo was amazing. The eggplant rollatini is always fantastic -- easily our favorite eggplant out of the local places. And the meatball hero was great too. No misses. We also really like their pizza and end up ordering from here about every other week, which is probably the strongest endorsement I can give. Inside has that classic pizza joint vibe -- perfect when you just want to grab a quick slice while you're out and about. One small suggestion that would make them even better: it would be awesome if individual slices were available for online ordering. You can order slices when you walk in or call, but having that option online would be super convenient for nights when we just want a slice or two for the kids and heroes or meals for us. Overall, great food, reliable, and easy to recommend. We'll definitely keep ordering!

By far and away the worst I've experienced. I took away a star for this reason. The new spot aesthetically is just okay. As always with local restauranteurs little to no attention paid to the noise level. My ears were bleeding throughout dinner. The restaurant needs decor which creates a warmer inviting presence. Our food was delicious but the wait time for the meals and drinks was insufferable. BTW, the wait time for the check was equally as painful. To the owners, get your (you know what) together and figure this out. You will not succeed unless immediate improvements are made.

We ordered fried calamari as appetizers and a zuppa di pesce - while zuppa is translated as soup in English, the dish is closer to what may be considered a fish stew. In addition to the fried calamari we also ordered a large salad that we split. Cova is a unique restaurant that serves dinner in a family-style format. This means that the entrees are designed to be shared between two or four people. While the food is excellent, for a hungry person, the amount per serving is not worth the price. Unfortunately, the cappuccino maker was not in service, so I ordered a regular cup of decaffeinated coffee. Regrettably, the coffee was not to my liking. The Takeaways: 1. The food is very tasty. 2. The coffee is not good. 3. The price to portion ration is poor. 4. Parking is ample. 5. Make reservations.

Arrived 5:15 pm, restaurant empty. There was an empty table for 6, but staff indicated that it was already reserved. Were also told that the table for 4 could stay for 1 hour, 30 minutes, but the table for 2 could only have it for 1 hour 15 minutes. I have never before been given a strict time policy prior to being seated. Then asked if we could just put the two adjoining tables together - "No" was the reply. OK, could live with that too, so figure that we'd split our party to 3 and 3 at each table. Nope! Were sternly informed that the tables had to remain as set - one table with 4 settings, the other with 2 settings, and that I could not simply move the one plate setting from one table to the other. Really? . . . . Last time I checked, both 3 + 3 and 4 + 2 equal 6. (Note: On their webpage, the same table is shown to be actually set for 3!) Never heard anything so absurd in my life. Kicker was that the round table for 6 that we couldn't have, remained unoccupied from 5:15 pm until almost 6:45 pm. Although I understand tables are set for efficiency, server workload, and optimal customer turnover, think management may want to add a dose of common-sense to their extremely stringent seating policies! (I do admit that actual table service provided was fine - just the absurd staff behavior about the tables and seating really "left a bad taste in my mouth" for the entire evening.)

We went for our anniversary and got there a bit early so we chilled at the bar. Deep wood. Cozy. Chef Eric's SECRET RECIPE Manhattan was tasty but not over-the-top. Wife had espresso martini which she proclaimed to be delicious. We were seated at this cozy little uh... alcove off the main area. Very cute and semi-private. We opted for the 3-course prix fixe each. Frito Misto was a bit salty but delicious. Lightly breaded atop garlic aioli that was not overpowering. Meatballs were moist but the polenta stole the show. Substantive but not gritty. Very creamy. Perfect. Wife had corn ravioli. Prominent corn flavor which was simultaneously sweet and smoky. Very nice. I had the mafaldine with duck ragu. Being a hick I am wowed by the vast myriad of pasta forms. This was perfectly chewy and an excellent vessel for the duck ragu. Savory and unctuous. Wife had the donuts which were humongous munchkins served with a bowl of chocolate sauce. Slightly dry and salty which was a great counterpoint to the dipping sauce. I had the cheesecake which was... a cheesecake. I enjoyed it. The joint allows BYOW with no corking fee, which was pretty awesome. It's tucked up in Miller Place so watch for deer as you go. We got lucky and found a parking spot right in front but be prepared to park on the street or down the block if you need to. Overall, a great experience. Thanks for an awesome dinner! We'll be back!
