People love these Pommes Frites!! For me, they were just ok; not bad but just ok. The fries itself are thick cut & double fried but what makes these fries special is the gazillion sauce options available. Some of the sauces (not all) are pretty tasty. See my photos for their menu with all the sauce options. Pommes Frites (complimentary sauces comes on the fries but not if you want the sauce on the side): Regular $9 Large $12 Double $14.50 Sauces (on the side or extra sauce): 1 for $2.25 3 for $6.25 I ordered Regular Frites with 2 sauces on the side: --Aji Verde (Peruvian Green Sauce): this was fantastic! Get this! -- Smokey Jalapeno Cheddar Cheese: just awful. Didn't really taste like cheddar to me and you could barely taste the jalapeno. And it wasn't spicy. Skip this sauce and try another. So if you're willing to pay $15+ for fries and sauce, Go For It!

The serving style is unique because the fries are served in paper cones and every table has holes to secure them. The french fries were crunchy on the outside while pillowy and fluffy on the inside. If you truly want to enhance the experience, I highly recommend purchasing one of the specialty sauces. For someone that craves carbs after walking around NYC, this place does not disappoint. If you like fries, or just want a nice snack to stroll around the streets with, then you're gonna like this place. This place is unfortunately a bit small but there are tables to sit down in front plus a touch screen menu to order if you don't feel like interacting with the staff. The Menu is vast with getting Frites starting from Regular to Double if you really want to share fries with. There's also the option to get sauces which is a must if you crave something to mix those fries in. I think I waited about 10 or so minutes after placing my order and my Belgium Frites were ready. I ordered the Truffle Frites. They are drizzled with Truffle Oil and garnished with freshly grated Italian Parmesan Cheese & Savory Herbs. I also got The Roasted Garlic Aioli which consisted of crispy roasted garlic, simmering onion & spices with a touch of anchovy. A very dangerous combo but I promise you; it's delicious. My first reaction was seeing that the person who put my fries in a paper cone. He filled the entire cone and then filled partly a second paper cone and layered it on top so it did not spill. Amazing! I was in shock of how much fries you get for just the regular size. The Truffle Frites were pretty much what you'd expect. Hot to the touch and the bite, it's crispy on the exterior a slight soft chew when you take a bite. It's really hard to complain when you get fries made to order and it's exactly how you want it to be. Did I even mention that they are also open till late too? This might be a fever dream if this was near me. Unfortunately, I'm a bit too far from NYC to visit this place often. But when I'm in the area; this is a must visit for sure!
So so so so so so so so so good. I met my friend here while at the Pride Parade. The cheese, the gravy, the PEANUT SAUCE. The cut of the fries were sooo satisfying. I'm not sure how the service was, and we sat outside at a bench they had in front. It was a good day. Keep up the great work everybody and thank you for the savory treat!
Pommes Frites was the best impulsive decision on wintery night. These are seriously the best fries you'll ever have: perfectly crunchy on the outside and unbelievably fluffy on the inside. I would definitely recommend getting the combo of three of their specialty sauces on the side; they add that extra umami goodness to your meal. There's plenty of space for seating. Service was a tad bit slow, but mostly because the people in front of us took 5+ minutes to try a bunch of sauces. :P I'm definitely coming here every time I visit New York from now on! :D
I follow a specialized diet - allium-free vegetarian - so I'm always on the lookout for food places when I travel. Well, my friend was in town and we found ourselves in NYC and we both share a love of potatoes... so here we were! We came in the late afternoon for a snack of sorts so we were the only ones there (though there were more by the time we left). It's a place near NYU and by the SW corner of Washington Square Park with lots of character packed into a little space. Lots of dark wood and dim lighting. Reminded me of a pub in the medieval times, funny enough. A few tables that stretched from the door and back; we found a cool nook halfway down and they do have a restroom. There were two people working in the back. First thing's first: this place is not TRULY traditional. Belgian fries are typically twice fried in animal fat. Seeing as I'm vegetarian, the first thing I did was figure out what fat Pomme Frites used for their fries. It's vegetable oil and it's gluten free, so celiacs rejoice! And those with a wheat allergy and are vegan/vegetarian. They also have an allergen guide on their website and ingredient lists in person so if you have multiple food allergies/restrictions, be prepared to read. In addition to fries and special menu items like poutine (they also offer impossible "meat" for those who area plant based), they have drinks (including alcohol and slushies) and an extensive sauce menu and offered us samples. My friend enjoyed them since I was sure I couldn't have them. I was right. Out of all their sauces, I think only 3 were safe for me, so if you also avoid alliums... keep that in mind. We shared a double frites and got a frites sauce and jalapeño cheddar (which the ingredients list said I could have but it tasted slightly off so I focused on the frites sauce). I could also have the cheddar sauce but my friend likes spice so we decided on jalapeño. Perfectly crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The frites sauce reminded me of what I had in Belgium. Because these are thick cut fries, the insides are HOT and they stay that way for longer than your typical fries. It was great after power walking through the city for a few hours. Absolute perfection. A great place to snack, hang out, and/or eat a beautifully unbalanced meal. I'm definitely dragging my family there for fries on my next visit. I have a kid with multiple food allergies and he'll likely be sauce less but that's fine. He mostly wants the fries.

I got the Truffle Pommes frites with a complimentary mayo/ketchup/onion and also got the mango chutney, garlic aioli and rosemary garlic. The fries were hot and fresh, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The perfect fry. The mango chutney sauce was the standout of the sauces I got. The inside feels like you're being transported to a different country, and the tables have holes for the cones to go into while you eat. The service was quick on a late Saturday night. Hands down the best fries in NYC! Truly authentic Belgian with a crunchy exterior and soft pillowy interior. Lots of unique specialty sauces to try & their eclectic flavors to discover - and the traditional free Especial combo of mayo, ketchup and onions ports you right back to Brussels. Rustic interior, some beer on tap, quick service, and one can also order online.
Always fun coming here and trying new flavors with friends. The place is small and can get really packed, but they're open late nights and it's a good bite to grab.

I first came here back in I think 2010? I came more recently in 2025 and it's just the same! I love the traditional poutine. The cheese, gravy, and fries are all good quality and the portion size is very fair for $10. I know many other people too who love trying all of the different sauces but for me the poutine will always be my order. It's nice too how the service is friendly and polite and the vibe is pretty chill. When it's not crowded it almost feels like you could be in a German or Belgian spot. When it's late and the drunk crowd, still a fun time but different. Definitely some of the best poutine I've ever had! Love this spot.
The poutine was massive. We ordered the bigger portion. A bit pricey but it's NYC. The cheese curds were still cold when we got our food but warmed up as we ate. Otherwise pretty good!

I've been coming to Pomme Frites for over a decade, and let me tell you -- these fries have survived every NYC trend, Covid, every late‑night craving, and every "I just need something salty right now" moment. Through the years the fries and sauces have shifted slightly, but overall it's the exact same iconic experience it's always been. When you're down for pure salty‑crispy fry bliss with a ridiculous lineup of sauces, this is the spot. Whether it's a pre‑funk stop, a post‑drinks craving, or just a "treat yourself" moment, Pomme Frites stays tried‑and‑true. The fries come out hot, fresh, and perfectly cooked every time. The sauces are still the star -- you can't go wrong with any of them. It's one of the few places that's stayed consistent in a city that changes every five minutes. Still my favorite fry spot in NYC... and honestly the only place that even comes close is Reykjavik fries in Iceland. Forever a classic. Forever worth the stop. read more

I like big juicy Belgian fries and I can't lie. The Belgian fries from @pommefrites were absolutely delicious, they're so warm and crispy. I liked the size of the fries and their texture. The portion sizes are good here and the regular size fills you up. The mango sauce that I chose were also really delicious with the fries. The vibes of this place was an European style old world pub. It feels like your transported to the Netherlands or Germany. The fries also came out really quickly and customer service was good. However, this place is very busy and crowded! Pommes frites is a nostalgic place for me because we used to go back here in the day and I'm happy to say that in a city that has changed so much in the last decade, I still enjoy this frites place and their many fun sauces. There's a lot of sauces to tempt you but I personally feel a bit locked into the last 3 we got last time we went. The truffle mayo, Irish curry, and a third one I'm blanking on were all good. read more

Love love love this place! Every time I'm in the area, Pomme Frites is a must for me. What's not to love about French fries?? Even better is they make it fresh to order (piping hot!) and have a wide variety of sauces to choose from. This time, the sauces I got were the curry ketchup special, mango chutney and the sambal. Of these, I loved the curry ketchup. The flavor was more ketchup than curry but the mix of flavors made it special and I kept going back for that one. The mango chutney was a little heavy on the mayo for me ( I don't particularly love mayo). Third place was the sambal. I didn't think it went well with the fries. Overall- definitely one of my favorite snack places to frequent! I also love trying new sauces each time and figuring out what I love with my fries. read more

The Irish curry was good and so was the jalepeno cheddar! You can also get ketchup and mustard at no additional cost! This is exactly how it is in Belgium! I always dream of getting these fries in the states, and here they are! I don't know how they can make a fry so good, but they've done it. The potato to crisp ratio? Chef's kiss*** Packable fries so if you're looking to get a burger in the area I might just grab these then a burger. Plenty plenty of sauces and the owner was extremely kind. Offered if we wanted to try anything and got to try 6 sauces with some fries! If I could buy 10 sauces at a time, I would. There's definitely a sauce for everyone and would recommend trying the ones you haven't heard before. It's a small little tavern like interior, but enough for a tiny group to hangout with some fries and a beer. Would recommend 10/10! read more

I don't know where to start. I'm shocked, and very disappointed in what I received today. I ordered double fries and their 3 sauce special. The fries tasted as if they were fried in old oil, with a horrible after taste. I had about 5 fries and couldn't eat anymore. It was a complete waste of $20. Fries were hot and fresh. The options for sauces were diverse and looked good. The portions here are ridiculously big. You could totally share the regular size. I had the spicy Smokey jalapeño cheese, Irish curry, ans Parmesan pepper. The Irish curry was absolutely delicious. Would definitely recommend. The cheese was pretty good but probably wouldn't get it again and the Parmesan pepper was not my favorite. My friend got the poutine and it was also huge. Would definitely recommend as a casual snack. read more

My first time in the all-most 10-year-old "new" location and I gotta say, it didn't slap like 2nd ave Pommes Frites. Let's start with the fries.... they seemed less frite-y to me. Less plump, more crispy edges, and not as wide. On to the sauce, I didn't taste the offerings but rather just went with an old favorite, rosemary garlic. I love sauce and can say with certainty they are putting more sugar in the sauces than they used to, and this makes me sad. read more

I love thick cut fries, but these fries are meant to be paired with a sauce. Alone, the fries are crispy with a soft, potato-filled center, but the sauce options are just that good. The sauce portions are perfect. Personally, one cup of sauce is enough for dipping a whole order of fries. It's usually packed, but on a rainy day, there were some open seats indoors. It's the kind of spot that is dim and you can overhear conversations, but it's a vibe. The AC in here was so refreshing; this place was a nice place to get away from the heat and humidity. read more

Walked in on a Friday late afternoon. There was only one other party inside. Got regular truffle fries for myself. It was a substantial amount that could be equivalent to a meal. The fries were fluffy on the inside and were quite thick. They had a nice crispy to them. They could've been more salted. Truffle taste was pretty minimal, but they give you a lot of cheese and herbs on top. They have normal ketchup on the side for free if you don't want to spend money on their special dips. The tables are quite innovative. They have holes punched in to keep the fries in place, so you don't just have to lay the cone flat on the table. Good place for fries. read more

This spot is really fun and would be great to bring a group if you want to pig out on some fries or if you wanna stop by and grab some fries to snack on. It's a very cozy place with really cool Belgian decor and plays pretty good music. The service is counter service, nothing special but the employees are helpful and nice. The food is good. Maybe I'm just not a poutine fan but I didn't love what I ordered even though it did grow on me. Next time I'll try the plain fries and sauces. Nonetheless, the fries were a nice thickness and good quality and the portion size was very good. I eat a lot and was unable to finish. It's a little pricy for fries but they are damn good fries and the sauce selection is very impressive. Will be back! read more

It was our first time in NY and Pommes Frites was a on several must visit lists for food near Washington Square. The restaurant is very small on the inside but luckily it was not crowded when we were there. The frites were crispy on the outside and tender in the center. They were delicious and it was a great snack to give us a little energy before walking down Bleecker St. read more

POMME Frites is absolutely one of my favorite spots, whether we have a late night in the city, or just want a delicious snack. I opt for the double frites so I can share and the smoked eggplant sauce is *chefs kiss* absolute perfection. Service is patient, friendly, and extremely helpful when recommending sauce flavors. They have alcohol and a good array of drink options. It's a rustic old world appearance. They have a private bathroom which is a huge plus for the food spot. It can be very busy and crowded at times and you may have to eat elsewhere but the fries and sauces always make up for the busy chaos and lines that can occur. read more

Cute interior a bit small but fits the vibe of the place. Fries were super crunchy and thick. Inside was soft so i really liked the overall texture of the fries. You're able to see the salt on the fries as well so it was pretty well seasoned; not too salty. The frite sauce, however, i didnt like as much. While it was fine, i felt that this sauce was taking away from the saltiness of the fries. This made the fries taste a bit bland. Overall, i would go back because the fries were super good but i would try a different sauce. read more
