Hofbrauhaus is iconic, and overwhelming. Depending on the…read moretime of the day you go, and the size of your group, you will have different experience. Afterall, this is a beer hall, and it can get very busy, rowdy and loud. If that's the vibe you are looking for (I mean why else are you going here?) go with the right expectation. Basic Rules (purely based on my observations): - It's massive and tables are for sharing. Walk in and find yourself a seat. Be polite and ask the guests... the servers are not going to find seats for you. - Go through the menu, and figure out what you want. Be decisive and don't "hmm and haw" when the server is ready to take your order. Use google if you are not sure what a dish is. Of course you can ask the server, but don't be surprised if they are annoyed by too many questions during a busy time. Remember, language barriers can be frustrating for both guests and staff. - They do have Non-alcoholic beers, just make sure to specify. I was only in Munich for a couple days, and visited Hofbräuhaus twice (t was just the easier option in my case). First time: Walked in soon after opening on a Friday because I wanted to try Weisswurst (which is only served before 2pm). Place was nearly empty, so I found a whole table to myself (had others share the table after). Service was on the slower side, but I was able to order pretty quickly. It didn't take too long for the food to arrive. The place started to fill up slowly and the band started playing and it was a cool space. Second time: As I had more family join me and wanted to experience a classic Beerhall, so we went on Saturday around 1 pm with a group of 6. It was completely packed, and very loud. We found a table pretty quickly as people were leaving. It did take a while for the server to come to our table and took a while for the food to arrive. We shared and tried a bunch of dishes and everything was quite good and interesting. Disclaimer: I am not an expert on authentic Bavarian food, so I am not here to comment on that. Simply put - as first time visitors, we enjoyed our meal. Couple other things: Prices were quite reasonable. Although it's pure chaos, it's a fun environment. Staff members can be direct, and the tone may not translate well... which may be a bit frustrating for foreign visitors.

The ambience was cool, with tons of seating and I liked the polka band and the beer was pretty good, just the service was super terrible. My friend warned me of this, but I couldn't believe it was that bad. It was.

Located just behind Old Town on Frauenplatz, it's a little off the beaten track, but not too hard to find. This Bavarian gem has been around for over 125 years. The food was so good. Here you will find traditional German, Bavarian food. We stopped by for lunch and it was packed with mostly locals. We were seated a large table with 3 other couples who were all from the area. One person brought his dog who kept running under the table to sniff my leg. Minus the dog, this was a treat and everyone was so nice. We even toasted when the cold Augustiner beer arrived. Again, we were told to order the sausages so we did. I ordered the 6 and my husband ordered the 8 sausages with sauerkraut. These looked like what we call breakfast sausage, they're thin but pack a a ton of flavor and were delicious, especially with the fresh sauerkraut. The staff was friendly and helpful with an English version menu. The atmosphere was cool and very authentic. Exactly what we were looking for when in Munich.

The food was absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, and well worth it. Service was very direct and…read morestrictly business, but efficient and smooth. Prices were reasonable for the quality, making it a solid spot overall.

My plate consisted of a grilled pork skewer with rice, a sausage, fries, onions, and 2 sauces - one red and one white. Everything was delicious! And it's filling! I was very happy with my choice of food. I also ordered a small Augustiner beer which I believe is half of a half liter lol! Our male waiter was soo friendly! I didn't get his name but he's from Ethiopia and he helped my group and I when it came to ordering food and recommendations. I am definitely going to try other Croatian foods.

We ordered the special coleslaw (with bacon!) and the mixed platters. It took some time for the food to arrive, but not too long. The salad was great, there is definitely a difference between the German coleslaw and theirs. We had one small and one big plate of it. The big plate was 1 pound of salad! After that we got our main dishes. Soooo good. Remembered me of my childhood days. A huge plate, with freshly cooked food. Sausages, skewers, chicken, beef, pork, Ayvar, fries, slaw, sour cream,... It was delicious, and way too much! All of us enjoyed the meal! Great atmosphere, brewery-like. The location is very convenient (3 minutes from Marienplatz), and the prices are awesome. A main dish costs around 13€, drinks 3-4€!!! Check it out!!!!!!!
