Can't really fault this place, we've been well fed, huge tasty portions and lovely friendly staff! What more is there?! We shared a couple of starters and could have been satisfied with just out first course! We had smoked aubergine mirza which came with so much bread! And asparagus marchobeh with goats cheese (waitress' recommendation, and it didn't disappoint!) we both had the king prawn Shah maygoo chello and half of it is currently in my fridge because it beat me and I just couldn't finish it! Would highly recommend!

In a short space of time, a mere hour and a half luncheon to be precise, was all it took for Pomegranate to became my favourite place to eat in Didsbury. When I eventually return for dinner in the not so distant future I'm certain it'll becoming my favourite eatery in Manchester. Restaurents to Foodies are like films for movie buffs. They offer so much more than food/fuel or harmless entertainment in the case of films. They offer escapism from your daily foodie regime. Pomegranate was THE quintessential escapism experiance. Let's set the scene. On a rare May bank holiday Saturday, Manchester had its sunnies on and was bathing in glorious sunshine with temperatures toppin a woppin 22 degrees. West Didsbury Makers market was busier than a bazaar in Chandni chowk Delhi. The stalls swelled with activity making walking through the market slow and strenuous given my shoulder situation. Alas the family outing meant I had body guards on each side. The market is't actually that big and the foodie options didn't tickle my fancy too much. Perhaps the distinct lack of seating given said busy situation was a telling factor in our decision to seek foodie refuge elsewhere along Burton road. Like an Oasis in the deseart we were drawn to Pomegranate from a distance. With soothing music emanating from the veraanda like outside seating area, I caught sight of the stunning interior and was sold on the spot. Having spent a considerable amount of time in the sun the cool breezy confines and the exoticly decorated walls made us feel very much on holiday. And so we were ready to gorge on delicious feed. Admittedly I had no idea what type of cuisine was on offer and uppn finding out it was Persian curiousity was peaked. I have tried Persian food sporadically with friends but never actually dined out on it. The lunch: two courses for £12 was senstional value for money iven the quality of the food. Soup of the day was lentil and herbs and was beyond esceptional with bread baked to perfection. The mixed platter was the reason I fell in love with aubergines once again. The lamb kebab was arguably the best I've ever tried. Yes, you heard right I said kebab. The word that's been hijacked over the last few decades mainly by orientalists as a derogatory term. It's become synonymous with greasy junk fat. In reality a perfectly tandoor oven slow cooked succulent meat on a skewer would be the real description. That's exactly what they served here. What's more I LOVED the response one of the staff gave when a sibling enquired whether they served fries. "No, sorry we only serve Persian food" Utterly brilliant! Another words, you want chips go to the chippy down the road. Whilst you're there, how about asking for Dom Perignon with your meal deal? Alas the tone from our hostess was neither as sarcastic nor scathing, but we got the point. The service was exceptional as was the whole experiance. I cannot wait to update this review when I return for an evening meal. How could I not? Even the name is exquisite, just a pleasent circumstance it happens to be my favourite fruit ;)

The distinctive combination of savoury and sour is s hallmark of Iranian cooking and this small friendly restaurant socialises in Persian classics typically with tamarind, ginger, lime, pomegranate and walnuts. The food feels full of artisan knowhow, the salads fresh and the sauces thick and complex. Prawns in ginger and smoked aubergine with egg for starters and a mildly spicy chicken and split pea stew and a thick dark chicken 'fesenjoon' in a pomegranate molasses and ground walnut sauce. If you've not tried Iranian there's no better place to start.

There is a reason this is one of the harder restaurants on Burton Road to get a table at.

Good Bbq place with large portions …read more A block away from the famous Cavern pub , so after some entertainment, it nice to have dinner in a quiet place. Friendly service too.

Hello mates, first of all this place is very mediocre as most of my family said from this place…read more First of all, we got the margarita pizza and it was decently good. I was very hungry from traveling all day seeing the Beatles sites so I ate it anyway, but it was very mediocre. It tasted like Chuck E. Cheese pizza quite frankly, my brother got the americana pizza. It had pepperoni on it. He said it tasted junk but that wasn't the end of the line my other brother got the vegetarian pizza he described it as frozen. He didn't like the pizza because it tasted too dehydrated. It did not have wet sauce. The pizza stayed completely intact. If you held it completely upside down, the toppings were like glued on, and they didn't really have a particular taste. Everything just kind of tasted extra chewy, but without any sort of spice, we tried the different sauces in order to make it taste a bit better and I have to say that adding the tomato sauce on top did help to Live in it a bit, but it really still fell short of something worth paying for it to sit down restaurant. My mother got lamb kebab. She described it as good and it was all right so nothing really crazy if you wanna get a bite I think you should go somewhere else personally but I hope you enjoyed my review. Cheers!
