Wandering through this bookstore felt like stepping into a magical little world that I genuinely did not want to leave. Even though we stopped in close to closing time, the owner never once made us feel rushed or like an inconvenience. She was incredibly welcoming, kind, and happy to have us there. This is exactly the kind of local shop I will happily return to again and again, not just to continue exploring the endless stacks of books, but to support and see the wonderful people who run it as well.

Overall it was a bit chaotic with books everywhere but it adds to the personality of the place. There are a lot of more common authors like Koontz, James Patterson, etc. There was a fair amount of each category and the lady at the desk greeted us and was helpful. I think the prices were fair although I didn't find anything I was specifically looking for (my to be read list is already pretty long)

The sweetest people, the best coffee, constantly changing monthly specials. I am usually a big…read morehater of the monthly special - I like what I like and I don't like when my favorites disappear. That's how I felt back in end of March/early April when I had 3 Lucky Leprechaun coffees. And then in May, came the banana pudding. July was red white and huckleberry blue. And now here we are in September with the Apple Cider Donut Chai and the Pancake Latte. I LOVE that this month there's a chai-specific option that can be made hot for the autumn girlies who love to be cozy. I do not like maple flavored things or pancakes, and I'm obsessed with that latte after my partner got it and I stole half of it. The books are cute, the vibes are immaculate clean beach aesthetics, the books are the perfect impulse buy for people on vacation. Try the specialty lattes, I promise there's at least one every month you'll like (I don't think I've had one I didn't actually). I can't wait to see what they do with hot coffees in their first winter here!! I legitimately wait every month for their new flavors. My only "critiques" would be there's no bathroom - not great for kiddos who get those yummy chocolate chip cookies on their little hands in a book store - and that the monthly menu always comes out about a week into the new month - but inconsistently - so sometimes it's sooner or later. It would be nice to have a more specific day (even if it's like the 6th of every month or something random).

I got the "If you give a mouse a cookie" drink and and I was pleasantly surprised with just how excellent this drink was. I was prepared for it to be TOO sweet but it wasn't...it was actually pretty perfect. And the coffee by itself was really good. We came back on Friday to celebrate their one year anniversary. This time I got the birthday cake cold foam. Again, it was super delicious. I thought that they'd have more going on to celebrate...maybe some more specials or give aways but nothing really. The space was decorated so nicely and everything was super cute. I did not need any more books this trip but it was certainly tempting. I thought that my drink was a bit expensive (both were $10 each) but I guess it's not too much more than a certain big coffee chain and it certainly tasted better. We enjoyed both of our visits and look forward to making this part of our annual traditions at Topsail.

Iced coffee and regular refills are $0.50. The baristas have made an effort for me to know their names, as well and many have helped create a great environment through great conversations. The only note, which many customers would likely agree, is that the aesthetically pleasing menu can be a bit overwhelming at first glance due to the many options. But, once you take it in, you can find what you are looking for to order. If you can't, the baristas will be happy to help make something that is amazing for you. There is also a roll the dice game that helps create a beverage for you, as well. All in all, Grinders is a great place to get caffeinated, socialize with others, and get work done.
