As far as I know, this is the only place in Toronto where you can lay about around the pool whist enjoying a beer and a burger, then play a round of mini golf. This entertainment complex has a lot going for it, but there's also a lot of work that needs to be done. For one thing, it feels like a creepy abandoned amusement park. Sure, there are beach volleyball courts, a driving range, mini golf, a rock wall, a restaurant, a couple of bars and a pool, but it's all just plopped down on a giant swath of concrete, not unlike the CNE. It's also virtually deserted. If it were me, I would try to hide the lots full of trucks and generators with a wall of hedges. And have more greenery dotting the place. Maybe some fake palm trees around the pool. And real trees in planters in the GIGANTIC patio area (which also has pool tables, ping pong and fooz ball tables). Polson Pier makes Ontario Place look like Disneyworld. The pool area is small, but pleasant. There are about 50 deck chairs and 4 giant bed sort of things that you can lay about on (down from 8 last year, boo). The pool itself is kind of like a big fountain. It's 4 feet deep with a ledge all the way across where you can sit. It's chlorinated, which makes me thirsty and sleepy. The pool area has a bar on the side and a great view of the city. It's also got a pretty wide range of visitors, from young families to a group that could only be described as "Vin Diesel and his stripper friends." Use of the pool is $10, you buy a paper bracelet at guest services. The bar and food is fine. We drank tall boys of Rolling Rock, which were $7.50 each. Not cheap, but not ridiculous, considering you're so far from everything. You go to the bar to get drinks. This place might have gotten another star if they had servers in the pool area. I got an order of deep fried pickles at the cantina, which were fine, but pricey at $5.25 for 4 strips. A round of mini golf is $9 each. Also pricey, and the course is full of pits, but it's laid out well. Plus, I managed to tie with the Hubster, which makes me happy. If there was more going on, we might have stayed later and took in a movie at the drive-in (which doubles as the driving range), but the place was so deserted, we opted to leave. Honestly, this could be a really awesome way to spend a day if they just made a few changes. For one thing, maybe have a shuttle bus or something so that people could get there really easily. Then spruce it up a bit, bring the prices down a bit, and advertise the living hell out of it. Also, have two pools: the family pool, and the 19+ pool. We'll definitely be back again, because it's a genuinely relaxing place to hang, but if we found a decent replacement, we'd go there instead. read more

Came here for their summer pool party so it is mainly that aspect I will base my review on. Location - totally out the way on Cherry Street and can be hard to find if you are a first timer however the view of Toronto make up for it. Party - awesome party, great music and great idea being by the pool side but having Toronto's skyline in view. Cover was $30! Come on real world people do not want to pay $30 cover then be charged $8 per can of bud lime! That seriously fuking pissed me off as it was the only beer they were offering and its day time I do not want to be knocking shots. Outside the pool party area there seems to be plenty to do except there is nobody around to do it? There were a few food joints and a bar where you could again buy rip off beer in a can but I think the whole place is wasting away and I can imagine why if your charging for crap drinks and food. I hear they have a golf driving range here so I would probably only consider going for that but if you have not been to the pool parties then try it out. Best moment was the dude that looked like a chipmunk pouring oil over himself then shaking his ass like a slippery rodent. read more

Please note that this review is specific to their group events. I organized a group event here for a group of colleagues, there were approximately 40 of us. I have been there a few times to hit the driving range, take in a drive in movie, have drinks with friends, etc. and always had fun, so I was excited about organizing an event for my colleagues as an annual offsite. I had worked with one of their event coordinators for about 2 weeks to make sure the event went smoothly. We decided on a BBQ lunch for everyone ($28/person) with 4 group activities which were expected to last about 1.5 to 2 hours overall, at a cost of $45/person. When we arrived we were all provided with bracelets and drink tickets. Lunch was served on time and it was actually quite good...beef and veggie burgers, grilled chicken breasts, a variety of salads, and fresh fruit for dessert. There was plenty of food for everyone and it was really good. We ate on the patio by the water, the weather was perfect and the view spectacular. All in all, lunch was a success. Now for the activities portion of the event. The animation team was completely disorganized and not very enthusiastic about leading us through the activities...they walked around asking each other what they were supposed to be doing, some of them had a really disappointing attitude, on one occasion (that I'm aware of) one of the staff members was openly rude to one of my colleagues when she commented on one of the activities. We were rushed through the activities, with little direction and at times felt as though they just wanted us to leave so they could go home for the weekend. Overall, I was very disappointed since this was an event that the team was very much looking forward to and to have it end up being a rather "meh" experience was a little disheartening (especially since we paid over $4000 all in). I would recommend this place for an afternoon with friends, but certainly not for a large group event. read more

I've been here quite a number of times, especially to Solarium night club. I will say that it's a gorgeous space. The glass walls allow one to see a breathtaking view of the Toronto skyline. Course, when I've been there, it's usually at night and usually intoxicated. So I'm not always paying attention to the skyline. I've been to 4 parties here so far and they've all been good. The bartenders are not always the quickest but they try to be efficient. The security is great and thorough. It doesn't take much time to get inside which helps when it's cold at night and you're by the water. My only issue is parking. It's easy to find a parking spot but since there are (I believe) 3 clubs in the complex, you'll have quite a line up when it comes time to leave the parking lot. It also doesn't help that there is only one way in and out of Docks along Polson street. I've usually hung out with friends in the car, going over the jokes of the night before heading home...or you'll just be frustrated sitting in a line-up of traffic for awhile. read more

Love the pool party in the summertime! Great venue for watching your favourite band too... I think it's one of Toronto's best kept secrets!! Amazing bar and security staff :) But if you plan on having your corporate event or wedding at the Solarium, be prepared to deal with a nightmare of an event coordinator! This review is for the Solarium night club and Polson Pier Entertainment has many venues and activities. This is a great space. it's airy and has a huge outdoor deck with a great view of the Toronto skyline. The bartenders are friendly but slow - I was tipping them but wasn't sure if they are on a tip system. One HUGE bonus I think was that they had reasonably priced burgers, hot dogs, and pizza available. I was hungry so it was perfect. I also noticed people weren't getting too sloppy or sick. Food always helps slow the alcohol intake. read more

Was here today for a pool party. It's nice to find out that these facilities exist (I really had no idea), but it's unfortunate that it's so visually unappealing. There is pavement and concrete everywhere; it feels like an industrial park. Even at the pool area, there is no grass (or fake grass even), so the pool may as well be in a parking lot. Despite these criticisms, there is a nice view of the city, parking available, signage so that you could figure out where to go, the people working there were hospitable, the bathrooms were reasonably clean, etc. read more

A complete entertainment complex with beach volleyball courts, restaurant, indoor soccer, venues and a driving range. I've used the range here several times and would give it an "OK". The best thing going for it is that it's the only range close to downtown and it has ample free parking. But the overused turf stations and asphalf range surface leave me somewhat disappointed. When I have the time I'd rather go to one of the ranges outside the city for a bit of fresh air, real grass, and a relaxing afternoon of practice in the sun. read more

If I could give this so called "entertainment complex" negative stars I would. Our experience started off with a brutal TTC ride there (another rant altogether!). We were dropped off on the corner of Cherry Street and Commissioner's and although I had an idea of where to go there was very little signage. We came specifically for mini putt and go carts with my nephew. There was not a single sign directing us to the mini putt course. When we finally arrived we had to walk through a closed concession area and then to a bar where you got your clubs etc. The mini putt course was horrible! It looked like it hadn't been maintained in years. There was litter all over the place and cheesy music played over outdoor speakers. It looks like the only part of this complex that is kept up is the Cabana Pool bar. It is easy to find even without signage, you just follow the hoards of fake Prada wearing, Jersey Shore wannabes. I will never go back nor will I recommend this place to anyone especially people visiting Toronto. read more
