There is a slow-moving treadmill through the tunnel pro tip: just stay on it and look up. Seeing the sharks and rays glide over you is a core memory. Staff & Service: Top-notch. The staff is not only friendly but incredibly knowledgeable. They are very proactive about animal welfare, constantly reminding the crowd to turn off their flashes to protect the creatures. Educational Value: We caught two of the diver shows where they feed the animals. It's amazing to hear them talk about sustainability and how our daily decisions impact these animals' lives for years to come. Crowd: It gets crowded fast! Even as early birds, we weren't alone. However, the layout is so well-organized that the flow of people keeps moving. Food & Amenities: After the shark tunnel, there's a convenient coffee shop and washrooms located in the basement. It's the perfect spot to take a breather. Transportation: Location couldn't be better. It's incredibly accessible you can easily walk if you're downtown, or take the bus/train (TTC) to Union Station. That said, I was really happily surprised by our Toronto aquarium offering! First off, staff were incredibly friendly and seemed happy to be there working and interfacing with the crowds. Was great to experience it and made lineups much easier to digest. We opted to partake in the stingray experience which was fantastic in our opinion. Detailed behind the scenes tour, along with meeting more behind the scene staffers was great and even my 8 yr old enjoyed it (Emily was a great guide!) The stingray experience itself was great and you are treatly extra special by staff. Our diver and feeder was AJ who was patient, accommodating and super Informative . Groups are small which is also a major plus. Our group of 4 had plenty of 1:1 time with the trainer and the stingrays were very curious and friendly and even seemed to splashing hello when we entered their environment. We were even given souvenir bags and towels and received 100+ downloadable digital images a spart of the package. Meal options on site were reasonably priced which was a nice surprise considering just next door at the ballpark we would easily be charged double for similar. Come really early as initially we had difficulty finding a parking that would fit our SUV (w/o scratching ours and others' cars!) When we complained and were about to leave, the parking attendant found us a better space that had more room. We came with our toddler (2.5-ish) just for her. I agree with sentiment of some other reviewers that the rides could use an upgrade. If it's first time your kid is riding, I would sit with them on slower rides. At least they had some animals (rabbits, donkey, horses, sheep?, goats, and Llamas). Food is the same that you would expect anywhere in an amusement. Pizzas, burgers, fries, etc. etc. Important note: When going back, you will see "Water Taxi" signs and "Ferry". Do not stand in massive line for Ferry. We waited almost an hour then decided to ditch the line and it didn't take us much time to get a water taxi instead. There were few people and in very short time, enjoyed our ride back. Taking the ferry to Centre Island is affordable and quick. It was only $9.00 CAD for round trip tickets, and there were 3 points of entry: Centre Island, Ward's Island and Hanlan's Point. We chose to take the Centre Island ferry on a Friday morning. It was very packed but the loading and unloading of passengers was efficient, so things seemed to move pretty quickly. One of the first things you notice about the island are all the bike paths. There are ample opportunities to rent bikes for the day, and we saw many people taking advantage of that. But, if renting bikes isn't on your list, there are plenty of other activities that are totally free. There was also an old lighthouse and a hedge maze to explore. There are also boardwalks leading out to Lake Ontario's coastline where you can get some amazing views into the seemingly endless lake or the Toronto skyline. There were some dining options like pizza or beaver tails, but we opted to skip the food options and have lunch on the mainland. One thing I would note is while we didn't see any personally; a fellow pedestrian jumped when he said he saw a snake in the grass, so if you stray from the paved paths, I would keep an eye out for that. We walked all the way to Hanlan's Point and took the ferry back from that point to the main terminal. It was quick and easy, and made for a fun little morning adventure. What a fantastic resource to have a nice grouping of islands where nature can be experienced right by the water. I loved my trip to Centre Island and to a greater extent, Toronto Island Park. It's definitely worth the visit to get out of the city and indulge in more nature-centric activities.

The bumper cars were actually pretty fun despite the small area. The laser tag course was pretty big and they tell you who "won" at the end. It's been a little while since I've been here and it was my first time in winter. It was cold! We had dinner at an AYCE buffet that was reserved for staff and their guests. Choices included turkey, breaded chicken, noodles, veggies, nachos, and more. The food was decent but our overall favourite was the squash soup - good flavour and perfect for the cold weather. After dinner, we wandered through the park, taking in some of the attractions. I was surprised to see so many of them open at this time of year, including one of the roller coasters. Huge kudos to the staff who were out in the frigid weather, especially in their costumes, and unheated attractions! Although WE were frozen, guests were having a great time, ice skating, enjoying all the attractions, especially the daily tree lighting show, and the food, even the frozen drinks! We had a great time but I could/should have dressed warmer. Next time...

Yesterday, I visited Canada's Wonderland (CW) as part of a work event. We were treated to a buffet-style lunch at the Courtyard. The experience included entrance to the amusement park, parking, and lunch. I was last at CW in 2018 as part of a Yelp event, which broke my two-decade streak being away from this amusement park. This time, it only took me just over seven years to return. I reviewed the event back then. I never reviewed CW in general. Now is the time! Our event was mainly a buffet-style lunch at the Courtyard. It was nice returning. It started promptly at 1:30 pm. I went ahead and filled my plate up with food: - Beef burger patty - Hot dog on a bun - Coleslaw and leafy salad - Barbeque chicken breast - Mac and cheese - Vanilla ice cream cups (2) My manager found me as I was heading to the fountain drinks and condiments area. I got to meet 75% of his family, along with relatives visiting from Hong Kong. I got a Diet Coke. The cup was small. I went back a couple of times to refill. It was cold and fizzy. However, it had a tinny taste to it. We got our photos taken by my software developer colleague. I was a part of helping him out as a mentor. Such relationships pay off! My manager's family abandoned him and sat at one picnic table that was covered. He sat with me as we chatted over a leisurely lunch. My thoughts about what I ate: - The burger patty was dry. It required a lot of Diet Coke to wash it down. I could have hit someone with it and done a lot of damage. Thank goodness I didn't. - The hot dog was plump and yummy. The bun was on the almost-hard side. Not quite stale, but not soft. Diet Coke was needed to wash the bun down. - The coleslaw and leafy salad were excellent. They were flavourful, especially with the Italian dressing. - I love mac and cheese. It was creamy, but bland. It was such a shame. It required some sort of sharp cheddar. - The vanilla ice cream was yummy. I got two. It would have been nice to have more flavours available. The Courtyard ceased all food and drink at exactly 2:30 pm. It was like clockwork. I used the washroom near the Courtyard and by the Wonderland store before I left. They were decent. Parking was straightforward. Sadly, I was behind a car of five people. There was an issue with making payment. I sat behind this car for five minutes as others readily got in. The nice man at parking scanned my QR code. You need the QR code for parking, entering the park, and hitting the Courtyard. Entrance to the Courtyard requires that you show the actual ticket either digitally or printed out. The QR code wasn't scanned. I lucked out. A car pulled out in the regular parking lot, a row before preferred parking. I backed into it and headed to the entrance. I don't remember a security line to get through the metal detector. It was new to me. There was a lineup, but it did move well. There was another checkpoint if you had a bag. I didn't, so I got to hit the entrance area. There was a wait. I got my QR code scanned. I needed to get a photo taken before I hit the park. I was here for a short period, as I had another event to go to. I was satisfied doing what I did for three hours. I always need an arcade. I was content playing Pac-Man, hoops, and Skee-ball. You need to load a card with credits to play. I worked up a sweat. I got a bottled Diet Coke, which was $5.50. You expect expensive drinks and food here. I will say that it was icy cold and I had no complaints. I caught a diving show at Arthur's Baye in Medieval Faire. It was awesome! Wonderland has a good mix of food stands, gift shops, rides, candy stores, and more for any age. Bumper cars and the Bat are some of the rides that remain solid park staples. AlpenFury is the newest ride. It's a multi-launch roller coaster. This ride has been marketed as Canada's tallest, fastest, and longest launch coaster, featuring nine inversions and launching roller coaster fans out of Wonder Mountain. I did not do any rides. My parents need me in one piece as my mom continues to heal after surgery and recovery. There are plenty of places to take a breather and sit down after walking the park. I sat in front of Leviathan to drink my Diet Coke before soaking up more of the park. I hit the Wonderland store to get a souvenir. There were a lot of Peanuts merchandise, from mugs, to t-shirts. There were also Leviathan merchandise and CW-branded items, such as tumblers. I got a small Charlie Brown plushie. I don't own many of this Peanuts character. This plushie is my second Charlie Brown one. The weather was perfect. It was 23°C and partly sunny. I had a great time. It would have been nice if I had more time here, but I enjoyed the few hours that I had here to have lunch, play arcade games, and get a plushie as a souvenir. (303)

We enjoyed exploring the variety of rides, though because our visit was at the end of the season, not all rides were available. Regardless, we had a great time. The Viper and the Predator were favorites from our visit. Lines were barely forming when we first arrived and kept moving nicely throughout the day. The kids area is very cute with a nice variety of rides. The staff we interacted with were all pleasant and helpful. The park has a good-sized parking lot with some EV charging stations available.

It's always been a charming, manageable park with reasonable wait times. You can easily hit both the amusement park and the waterpark in one day, which is a huge win. Compared to Canada's Wonderland, which I also grew up going to, we definitely prefer Darien Lake now. Wonderland's crowds are out of control, and it's just not worth the hassle anymore. At Darien Lake, you actually get your money's worth. The coaster lineup is solid for a smaller park, with highlights being: Ride of Steel Tantrum Viper The Predator Plus lots of other fun rides scattered throughout the park. As for the waterpark, it was just okay this time. The Lazy River is fairly basic, and two of the more popular slides were running slowly, causing bottlenecks. Not sure why, but the water was freezing cold, especially on slides like Tornado, still a great ride, but would've been more enjoyable with slightly warmer water. Yes, the park is a bit dated in areas and could use some TLC, but despite that, Darien Lake continues to be a lovable and worthwhile spot. Whether you're going for nostalgia or just want a fun, full day without the chaos of bigger parks, this place still hits.

Visiting a cemetery is not something I do for fun pre-COVID, but I'm glad I went there for a walk for once. Many tombstones from ages ago are wearing away, and I'm wondering whether their descendants still visit them. You can walk along a path with flat-to-the-ground headstones flanking either side into an area shaded by trees. I also saw Jack Layton's monument, with a headstone sculpture of his face. I see people have left some flowers recently. Super cool as I did not know his gravesite is there! Riverdale Farm was closed when I was there, but I could still peek at the farm animals outside the gate. I was there just after they announced on the news that someone stole Juniper, the baby goat! I believe I saw mama and the siblings there? The gates are not high... so I can see how a rascal can jump the fence and take a goat. Like who does that?! Cemetery and a park walk are not the first things that come to mind, but it reminds me that when I open my mind to unique experiences, I'm most of the time pleasantly rewarded.
