My wife and I want to share our experience with a local business, Polo Floors, whom we hired for a full kitchen remodel that began last Fall. The short story is they did not finish our kitchen, leaving us to have to hire out finishing the job. Polo Floors quoted us "2 weeks" for the job, but at week 5 they left us with an incomplete kitchen and never returned. To this day, we still do not know why they never finished the job as we had agreed. The most significant issue is they did not build the wall tower cabinetry based on the appliance specs we gave them or had designed (and is depicted in our contract). After 3 failed attempts to build the wall tower correctly and as specified by contract and cabinet supplier, they abandoned the job. In addition to the glaring issue with the unfinished cabinetry that was a blatant violation of our contract, there are numerous workmanship defects involving painting, wall texturing, tiling, cabinet closures, and drawers falling off their tracks. Also within two months of install, some cabinets have already started to chip. Polo Floors never provided us a final walk-though, a final bill, or verbal indication that they considered the job complete. They were scheduled to return the following week to finish the job but instead took a lien out on our house claiming we refused final payment. This culminated in us having to hire legal representation, and during that time we discovered that they aren't licensed contractors, among other things. After they left the job unfinished and claimed we refused final payment, we conducted a deeper search into their business. We found several other complaints against them from members of the community. Furthermore, we discovered Polo Floors were incorrect when they told us the job didn't need permits, for we now have in writing from four individuals from the county that the job needed electrical, plumbing, and building permits. Polo Floors advertised on their vehicle they are BBB Accredited and Licensed when we moved into the community. It turns out they weren't BBB accredited (after the BBB was notified by us, the stickers were removed from their truck) and as already mentioned, they are not licensed contractors. We also discovered that one of the owners already has a criminal conviction after receiving a felony charge for doing work without a contractor's license. We just don't want to see this happen to someone else, where you are left without a functioning kitchen for weeks and weeks and having to deal with the emotional, legal, and financial impact of their actions. read more

We contracted Polo to paint our cabinets, new kitchen countertop, backsplash and rip out all carpeting and install new luxury vinyl floor planks. I also asked them to install the covering on the stairs landing. This came out beautiful! Jessica is awesome to work with. Had a few minor issues with the floor but those were quickly addressed. Jessica delivered as promised! Great job! read more

Polo Floors did not know how to install small glass tiles on a shower floor, so instead of saying so, they installed them incorrectly. We have had water intrusion under our shower tiles since installation in November of 2019. We had other issues in finishing our bathroom that kept Polo from coming to take care of the poor workmanship, and then of course the coronavirus, so we tried to be patient. But it is next to impossible to get someone to come fix the problem they created. The floor tile and shower wall tile look nice although the grout is already cracking in spots, but this shower floor is a mess. Jessica is difficult to get answers from. And Alain does not honor his job. They have been paid so I guess we'll move on and pay another contractor to fix the floor or replace the tile with new and start again. I'd be careful using Polo Floors. It's a shame because they seemed like nice people. read more

I have 3 large bedrooms and landing upstairs, with partial wood on my stairs and wanted all the carpet gone. Part of the issue with the stairs was matching the wood rails with the floor I wanted without having to remove the actual rails. I had 11 estimates given. Some were way over my budget and those that said they could do what I wanted, would never call me back. I was then referred to Polo Floors. GREAT PRICE! Jessica at Polo Floors gave a solution to our stairs that was brilliant! Jessica was so GREAT to work with! They have a great selection of floors in their showroom in Avalon Park. We are the crooks? How? We over paid for subpar workmanship and service. What exactly could we have done differently to get them to install the tile and transitions strips according to the quoted time frame? Now, we have transition strips that do not even line up, they are oak instead of cherry and were an add'l $250 added to the invoice. How did we benefit at all from this experience? And what would they be suing us for? They were paid for the job. I am not shocked by this company's response. This is what we were on the other end of the entire time. They lack accountability and professionalism. They fabricate situations and try to deflect blame...just like they are doing with their claim that we told them to go F themselves. Absolutely false and unnecessary character assassinations but again its their way to try and make themselves feel better for their unscrupulous actions. The pictures I took are exactly before and afters of whats in my home so their claim that they arent are ridiculous. Also, how else would I have a non disclosure agreement with their company information on it unless they provided it? They offered a $250 discount if we agreed to sign it. They dont want anyone to know how they try to overcharge customers on sqft estimates. Read the other reviews about how Robert/Omar/Jessica have treated past clients. First of all, I am not impressed. We were lied to and taken advantage of with this company. The owner Robert Polo came to our house and measured our upstairs hallways, media room, and stairs for installation of the new waterproof laminate flooring. We were quoted a good price of a little over $4000 dollars. We paid half up front, $2000 and when the job was finished we paid the rest. But the unfortunate journey starts when the installer, Omar, shows up to our house. He and his staff pull up, cut up and remove all the of the carpeting from the stairs, second floor hallways and media room. They stared installing the flooring in the hallways moving forward toward the stairs. Omar noticed that there wasn't enough flooring to complete the job. We showed him the paperwork that Mr. Polo had given us with is handwritten measurements, drawings, and estimates. Omar and myself added up the measurements and came up a little over 200 sq ft shy of what was needed. Omar called Mr. Polo and he shows up at our house and tells us that he made a mistake in the amount of flooring ordered and that we would have to pay an additional $1300 for the flooring. My wife and I exclaimed that this was his fault and not ours. Mr. Polo told us that he could install the carpet back in the home and he would give us our money back. Are you kidding me, the carpet was cut up into small pieced for removal and thrown in the back of a dirty pickup truck and the hallways were almost finished being put into place with the new flooring. He then stated that he could order the additional materials and that we could pay him whenever we had the additional $1300. By now, my wife is in tears, so I stepped in and told him that he could go ahead and order the additional flooring needed. We shook hands and agreed upon his terms. What else was I to do? There is no way that I am going to leave my second floor without flooring. We have too small dogs and a grandson that runs all over the place. I was afraid of them getting hurt on the wood floor with nails and screws sticking up or getting splinters. A week later, the contractor Omar comes back and completes the flooring and the stairs. When doing the final inspection I noticed that there was an inch gap between the bottom of our door frame molding and the flooring was installed. I showed Omar and he told me just to put some caulk in and it would be fine. Isn't that his job to complete what he started? He said he would be back to finish up and that he would have Polo Floors call us to schedule. I told him that would be fine, thinking I would just be patient. Of course, we never heard back from Omar or Polo Floors. So we waited a little longer and no response. I took photos of the door frames and sent them via a text message to Mr. Polo. He responded back with he would have Omar come to finish that up in the next day or two. A week went by and still no Omar. At this point and time it was a month and a half after the install supposedly was completed. We started receiving phone calls from the office manager of Polo Floors, Jessica, who we had never met before or dealt with in the past. We had only dealt with Mr. Polo, the owner himself. Jessica kept asking us to pay them in full. This was around Thanksgiving of 2017. We called Mr. Polo and told him that we couldn't pay him at that time. He was very gracious and said "no problem, pay me when you can". Now the Christmas holiday had passed and we didn't have the money still. Now Jessica is calling us and leaving threatening messages. My wife called Mr. Polo and he told her the same thing he had told me, "no problem, pay me when you can". The next phone call we got from Polo Floors was from Jessica's cell phone and not the store number. My wife answered and at the end of the call my wife was in tears once again, because of the threats that Jessica had mad to her. We scrounged up $250, to pay a little bit to just ease the situation, by selling off a piece of my wife's Jewelry, which was worth much more than $250. We drive over to the office, met with Jessica and proceeded to pay her the $250. She then demanded that we pay them in full at the beginning of the next month. We told her that we could only pay $50 a month until we had them paid off. She exclaimed that her father had never agreed to that. We asked her to call him. She got him on the phone and they were speaking in Spanish, since Mr. Polo is Cuban. My wife is Hispanic and speaks Spanish fluently and overheard the conversation between Mr. Polo and his daughter Jessica. Mr. Polo told Jessica to "let them pay whatever they can, when they can". Jessica hung up the phone and proceeded to tell us that her father said he would accept the $250 and we would have to pay the additional amount in full the next time.
