Great spot for breakfast. Sundays mornings are obviously busy, but I was able to find a table fairly quick because a waiter stopped to clean off a two top. Placed our order and received the food all within 10-15 minutes. The bacon was crispy, eggs were cooked exactly like I asked and the American fries are so yummy! Small family type restaurant where the waitresses treat you like family. Great breakfast menu and a varied lunch choices. Food is out of the kitchen hot and quickly. Servers need to pay attention to what they serve and soup needs crackers and I shouldn't have to ask refills. And all soups seem to have a red sauce appearance and taste even ham & beans it should be northern bean and ham but never hardly any ham. This little place is one of the best kept secrets in the Riverbend area. I am almost, scared to tell people how good this place is, for fear of it being over crowded, but it already is always super busy when I have stopped for breakfast. The locals already know a good meal and value. For over a year, I'd pass this diner going to work and really never thought much of it. It sits way off the road in a inconspicuous little strip center. Now that I have moved over to the IL side, I thought I'd give them a try. I've only been twice for breakfast, but I can say each time I have been totally satisfied. My first visit, I ordered what they call, Daily Special. It's always on the menu, but it is a sampling of a lot of breakfast favorites. I had two eggs scrambled, bacon, Hash Browns and a Half Order of Biscuits and Gravy. This ole farm boy who became a city man and now has moved back to his roots, was in foodie heaven. It was all simply prepared, not overly salty which I feared. It was a plate full of true breakfast comfort foods. My second breakfast visit, I had planed to order a Bacon and Cheese Omelette. When I arrived and read the Daily Specials on the Wipe Board, they were offering a Meat Lovers Omelette. Why only have bacon, when you can also have ham and sausage with cheese in your omelette. It was a no brainer, I went with the Meat Lovers. When my server asked about my potato side, I thought since I had their Hash Browns the other day, I'd try the American Fries. Then she asked a question, I had never been asked at breakfast before. She wanted to know if I wanted them, Grilled or Deep Fried. I was taken back and asked what she meant by deep fried. When she described them, I knew them as Pub Chips. So I said, Deep Fried. Forget the diet, give me those Pub Chips for breakfast. My omelette had a perfectly light yellow tint to it. I hate it when they have those darker blotches through out. It was stuffed full of meat, so it did satisfy a meat lover. Then, there were those Deep Fried American Potatoes, aka Pub Chips. They were thinly sliced and crisp like a potato chip. I liked them, but man I kept thinking of them with a big burger at an Irish Pub. The coffee here is strong, the way I like it. I drink mine black, so it made my mornings. The servers are attentive and you can tell they remember their regulars. Heck, it was only my second visit and two of them commented, that I was back. I can assure, this place is going to be in my breakfast rotation and I will be checking them out for lunch and may-be a blue plate special for dinner. We've been a frequent customer for Polly's ever since it opened. Recently, the food quality has been Horrible.....no flavor or weird taste, wilty lettuce, just plain bad. Our last visit, I had chili that tasted like their pasta sauce with a bit of chili powder added and raw onions. My wife had their vegetable soup that was 85% cabbage and water with no seasonings. read more

Stopped here for dinner tonight, outside dining. Tuesday's special is stuffed pepper, so I went with that. It includes veg (tonight was carrots), potato choice, and soup or salad. Salad was a good size, had 2 nice sized tomato wedges and cucumber slices atop. Stuffed pepper was huge, loaded with stuffing and quite good. Had a good amount of sauce over it, I went with mashed potatoes and I had my choice of brown or white gravy or the sauce for the peppers, I topped with the sauce, went really well. Had sweet iced tea, yum for the whole meal. Would definitely recommend this dish. Don't think I have ever had a bad meal here at Polly's. read more

First impression wasn't that great. I ordered the daily special that came with 1/2 biscuit n gravy, eggs, bacon and hashbrowns. The biscuit n gravy were very salty and lukewarm, the eggs were scrambled came out cold and the hashbrowns hadn't thawed out entirely and very cold to touch. The bacon had an unpleasant aftertaste, like they need to do a better job of cleaning their grill. The coffee was decent, had that going for us! I really wanted to like this place and become a regular customer, but it's unlikely I will be back. read more

The service was terrible. The food was cold. Being brought out late. Employees were just socializing instead of checking on customers. They were very rude when I asked the server a question. I could hear them talking amongst themselves loudly. As well as not following ppe. Very bad first impression. I wouldn't suggest anyone coming to this restaurant.
