The coordinator had their plumber Spencer call me to see if I had any questions after our initial call. I initially brought in another company for an estimate but called Spencer back for a fact check to verify the first company's pricing. Spencer was able to respond immediately with what Leak Geek's pricing would be for the same pricing and said they could get out there within about an hour. I ended up hiring Leak Geeks, and Spencer got here within about 30 minutes of being dispatched. He did a great job identifying where the leak was coming from. It was a worse case than I had hoped for, but he found it. He cut and capped the line so I could still use the rest of the water in the house while the drywall was being remediated and the eventual repairs could be made. He referred a remediation company, American Water Damage, who had an estimator come out, again within about an hour, provide an estimate, and get a remediation tech to come out to move a basin, cut open the upstairs wall, and place fans and a dehumidifier. I'm impressed and relieved that they could get all of this done in the same day. Spencer was friendly and professional throughout. We had Howze Plumbing come out to repair a small leak. The leak itself was fixed, but when the job…read morewas completed, I discovered that our recirculating pump was no longer working. The pump had been working perfectly fine the day before. I called the company but did not receive a callback. The following morning, they sent a plumber out to look at the issue. I was told that the pump had simply gone out at the same time the leak was repaired--a pretty big coincidence considering it was working without any issues before their visit. They came back with a repair quote of approximately $2,000. I then did my own research and found the same replacement part at Home Depot for around $300 and at Lowe's for about $409. Their price for what appears to be a widely available part was over $600. Needless to say, we decided not to move forward with the repair. I understand that companies have overhead and labor costs, and I don't expect anyone to work for free, but the overall experience, lack of communication after the initial call, the timing of the pump failure, and the pricing left me with serious concerns. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend that homeowners in the Keller area get a second opinion and compare prices before moving forward with any major repair from Howze Plumbing.
