Talk about a hole in the wall...
I was heading out on a drive from Toluca to the Condessa neighborhood in Mexico City and I was a little hungry. I drove past this place once, turned around passed it again and made it half way down the street before deciding to make another U turn to give it a try.
I was not disappointed.
I don't know if you've ever been served a meal in a plastic bag (i.e. The Boiling Crab in San Jose, CA or The Boil in NYC) but I bought half of a rotisserie chicken with potatoes, onions and peppers on the side...or in the bag.
Let me tell you, this was the biggest surprise of my trip. The chicken was excellent! Savory and garlicky with the perfect amount of heat it was absolutely delicious. The best part is that for half of a chicken with the sides, it cost 33 Mexican Pesos...that's about $1.70USD! Unbelievable!
I highly recommend this place. If you're ever in Mexico City, I strongly advise you to take the drive to La Leña. read more
