We were extremely disappointed with the service received at Pollo Tropical. My family ordered the half chicken meal, vegan wrap, and the classic Cuban sandwich. During Covid times only two employees had masks covering their chins. The others including the manager were not wearing a mask. There was an employee with a hose spraying the grill area and water on the floor in the inside of the work area. Our order was prepared by an employee wearing the same plastic gloves he was using while cleaning the tables and floor. Please note we threw the food away even though we were hungry. Maybe we received this type of service because they were going to close the restaurant in 20 minutes but there is no excuse for not having a clean and safety environment. read more

I literally have a Facebook message thread going on with their main office, numerous calls made over two orders (now 3). Not giving me all the food I pay for, then not receiving a credit. I have spent probably 3 hours total on the phone trying to get a credit. We would go weekly, they have lost a regular customer. I had put in an order (this was 2 days ago) for two Cuban sandwich combos and a chicken caesar salad. The salad had no chicken on it and it was the side salad (not the meal-sized salad). I paid 7.99 for that one salad. Someone had dumped at least a cup of Caesar dressing over this salad. It was inedible. Very sad. In rating chain restaurants, one has to stay away from rating the entire chain as much as rating that one location. And this location is solid. The food is always cooked properly here, the cashiers always get my order correct, and the employees are really friendly. I have no true complaints about this Pollo Tropical. Well, gave them the benefit of the doubt. First clue was the long wait, but we persisted. Finally got to order in 15 min later. Have been sitting for quite a while and have not received our order, it's been close to an hour. Can't really comment on the food cause we haven't gotten it yet. The small blond girl working behind the counter appears to be talking to herself and throwing the F'bomb out like she is about to fight someone. Very disorganized. I am watching as everyone who previously ordered is complaining due to messed up orders. I am regretting my decision to come here. Great chicken with mojo marinated sauce. I always like Pollo Tropical chicken. The chicken is marinated through and through. The season spice when into the chicken deep inside. I love the skin with rich mojo spice. It was so good. Sometime they run special item such as Tropichop. First step pick your meat - mojo pork, chicken pincho, Calypso Beef. Then add your base such as rice, lettuce or yellow rice. Then top with type of veggie, then added your sauce. Sound easy. This special is running now. I would go for typical grilled chicken with mojo spice. We have good coupon two order for $10. Can beat it. The salsa and spicy sauce can be pick up on the sauce island. I'm a pescatarian, so "pollo" is not in my diet. I ventured here with co-workers on lunch yesterday because I know they have vegetarian options. When we arrived, the place was not busy at all. Service was slow, however, the food came out fast. I ended up ordering the vegetarian rice bowl. I wanted all veggies on it. What I ended up getting was a bowl with rice corn, and red peppers. What happened to the other veggies I wanted? By the time I realized this, the lunch rush came in and I didn't have time to have them remake it. I did eat it and thought the items were cooked okay, but I wasn't blown away. Again, I don't eat chicken, so I can't comment on it. But my guy tells me we would have been better off at an authentic Caribbean restaurant. read more

Find somewhere else to eat, honestly. I haven't eaten at a restaurant with a drive-thru window in over 2 years and I made an exception for my buddy that loves Pollo Tropical. He owes me a solid now :). I found the food to be hot, but I am unsure of wether or not it was fresh at all. I covered it in a guava BBQ sauce so I could get it down. There was also a condiment bar that was dirty and not so appetizing. I just find it hard to dip sauces into plastic cups at a fast food joint. Visited this spot and nothing I ordered was worth paying for. This chains food is terrible. I ordered one of their large rice bowls, soup, fried yuuca, a limited time app (i forgot what it was but it tasted like cardboard), and dessert. The bowl was practically flavorless, nothing that makes this chain stand out from anyone. The soup was suppose to be a chicken and potato type stew, there was 1 piece of chicken.. all of the potatoes were pretty mashed up, so it was like just like eating mashed potato soup. They gave me the wrong dessert, and forgot the fried yucca. I wanted a refund for at least the missing item.. the direct phone to the place of business transfers me to a Hold, and noone EVER picks up. (Smart way of dealing with customer service, just dont answer your customers).. So I opted to go ahead and call the corporate line to get assistance with this just because now I am just not happy. The person I spoke with assured me this would get taken care of and should expect a refund. Nevertheless, I was never refunded... noone ever followed up... and I will never eat at a pollo tropical chain ever again nor recommend this place to anyone ever, customer service is horrible, food is disgusting. The food was okay. The service was average. The restaurant was FILTHY!! It's like they opened in the morning and did absolutely no cleaning all day. I got there at about 7 pm and it was disgusting. I would have walked out but I was starving. Everywhere I looked, there was spilled food. Wow. I'm sitting inside this place at 420PM on a Tuesday and it's absolutely disgusting. First review on yelp. I had to make one. I paid 10 dollars for a bowl that looked like a bowl of rice and 4 slivers of chicken on it. There is a trash picker upper sitting on the floor where the tables are and has trash overfilling. Despite advertising (when ordering online) that they have drive-thru & curbside pickup, they don't. You can however use the drive thru when you're not ordering in advance. So I had the pleasure of going inside to pickup my order. This is one of the most dysfunctional 'fast' food restaurants I've ever been to. No one bothered to ask me what I was waiting on for 15 minutes!!! There were only 2 other customers there, one of which came in after me. So my order sat on the counter, NOT the designated Online Order for 20 minutes getting cold until they handed it over to me. I wasn't surprised when I got home & saw that they forgot all the sauces & the food portions are kid sized. What's worse is the condition of the restaurant itself. There was water leaking from the ceiling in numerous places & from the a/c vents. There was water on top of many of the tables & puddles on the floor. The ceiling had mold & was in complete disarray. Additionally, there was only 1 or 2 employees wearing masks properly. All the other employees had them pulled down under their nose & many were just pulling their masks down under their chins. They should wear a mask at least to protect them from breathing that ceiling mold in all shift. I'm in love. This chain is AMAZING. My fiance and I had never tried it and were looking for something quick and different. We were both shocked at how delicious everything was and the unlimited options on the menu. The Tropichop with steak is what I went with and I was very happy. I had a side of fried yuca as well with some cilantro garlic sauce from the sauce bar. The yuca and sauce were just amazing. So flavorful. The tropichop bowl is much like a burrito bowl if you order similar toppings. Think Chipotle, but less filling and more delicious. I ordered a small and it was more than enough even on it's own. This place was so good that we went back 2 days alter and ordered different items. The corn souffle was like cornbread in a cup, but better. All of the chicken is great: wings, legs, etc. I am now a huge fan of PT and I can't wait to go back and try more. read more

She was was not nice to a lady asking for sauce or salt/pepper, constantly muttering about the customers. At least the rest of the staff was friendly. As they were understaffed PT eventually closed down the drive thru and locked the lobby doors so no new customers could enter!! Regarding the food, it was nothing to write home about. Went through drive through ordered a large 12 piece plantain payed for a large and was given a deceased 6 piece. ( I have a friend that works at a different pollo and know that these were very old because he told me so after looking at them ) when I said something to the women in drive through a slight girl with brunettes hair she gave me a very nasty attitude and said I could pay for another six piece if I really wanted 12 and looked at me like I was annoying her. I replied why would I pay for a order of six when I already payed for 12 and got a burnt six pack. She then told me in a hurry " whatever park and I'll get you a 12 piece from the back " we parked and waited for 18 mins before she brought out yet another six piece and forced me to keep the fresh six piece as well as the burnt deceased one to total a full 12 piece. Terrible service. Waited 15 minutes at the drive-through just to have the employees headset turned off at the window. Another employee with a headset on must have had there's off too. Employees can't even tell you what ingredients they are out of before ordering food. Went to get a refund and the manager didn't even talk to me, just stuck out her hand for the receipt, pointed at the card machine and that was it. Didn't care that I had bad service or to find out the problem. After I left, I call customer service to file a complaint. Been to the location in Clearwater several times and have always had exceptional service. Pinellas Park needs to train their staff better! I will never go back to that location again! I have been there several times and I am convinced the problem stems from management and neglect. On more than one occasion i have seen employees not working when customers are waiting for their orders or wishing to place their order. They drip the hot water from the vegetables onto the sandwiches which makes the bread soggy. On my last experience not only this happened but they left out my waffle fries from my combo. Also I had ordered 2 chicken sausages on buns. they had only 1 hot dog bun and offered to use a hamburger bun for the 2nd. I asked them to cut the sausage in half and prepare it. They served the sausage whole in one box and the bun in a separate box. The manager boasts they make 50000 a month and that they are not really a fast food restaurant. Let me start by saying I have nothing against Pollo Tropical. I have been to other locations recently and they have been wonderful. However, this location can use some work. I went through the drive thru. There were two cars ahead of me and it took forever! I waited well over 20 minutes to get my food. When I finally pulled up to the window the man taking the orders looked sloppy, sweaty, frazzled, and just simply not clean. I hate to sound mean but honestly the man looked like he just needed a few days off and a good shower. It grossed me out a little bit to know this man had any hand in making my food. Well, I noticed a crumbled up bag sitting on the edge of the counter and said to myself I hope that isn't my bag. Sure enough it was my bag. It had obviously just been sitting there for the last 20 minutes since it was a small order. I asked the man at the window for sauce for my fried yucca and he looked a little annoyed and went to get some. It took him about 5 minutes to track some down. I decided I was not going to even eat that sauce as he had way too much time to tamper with it if he wanted to. I hope he didn't but who can be sure these days. So I finally get back to my work office to eat my food. No surprise my food was cold. The yellow rice was mushy. And my carton of fried yucca was half empty. I hate that this location is the closest one to my job! I am vegan and Pollo Tropical offers great vegan options. This location though is just not good! So I'll preface this review with the fact that Pollo Tropical is one of my favorite fast food restaurants. Period. Their food is consistently good, and the options are a plenty. So why two stars? This particular establishment is in serious need of leadership. I've had many awful experiences with wait time, wrong orders, missing items, and just plain awful customer service. The teenagers that they hire to serve you are clueless. And management has no control of the store. I often times see what appears to be the manager running around trying to get it all together, but failing miserably. Every time I go there is an issue. I keep coming back because I love the food and the location is close to my residence, but I have to psych myself out everytime I walk in because I know there will be a problem. It shouldn't have to be this way. They just need stronger guidance and provide better customer service. I'll update my review if that ever happens, but I won't hold my breath! read more

I don't know if these reviews ever make it to higher up's for employee recognition but i give Marcel at store 10083 a 5 star "above and beyond" review. With only one other employee, he operated with composure and professionalism. At the busiest location in Pinellas County, Florida that's saying a lot. I typically use DoorDash for all my orders but it was down last night so I decided to swing by the restaurant location to get my food in person. Plus it's easier to get the sauces you want when you're in person. Ordering through the app I rarely get the dipping sauces and if you've ever ate at Pollo you know the sauces are where the magic happens so not getting them sometimes is a heartbreak. Once to the ordering speaker I learn why DoorDash was down, because it's just two of them in there grinding it out trying to keep a 6-8 people thing operating with only 2 people. With all the priorities there wasn't enough time to make the individual dipping sauce cups so they weren't available. Seeing how numbed I was, Marcel went clear around the counter with some scissors it looked like, and as he handed out order through the window said he had in fact put some of the Mango sauce (my favorite) in the bag also. My man! With all the shortages of employees in the work force these days, especially the restaurant business, it says something when an employee treats you like your important and take the time to look out for you.
