Spotted this new plant shop in the neighborhood and just had to stop in! Lynn, the owner, kindly took the time to walk me through her selection and guide me to the right decision for a low-light plant for my bedroom. The selection is stellar and I think they have something for everyone! Plus, their pretty pottery, books, and other accessories mean you can walk out with a cute plant AND a cute home for it. They're closed Sunday-Tuesday, so just make sure to check the hours before dropping by. They also seem to have a robust website & post new plants there, so that's another option if you're not comfortable with in-person shopping. As for covid, only 3 shoppers are allowed in at any time, masks must be worn at all times, hand sanitizer is provided at the door, and you can only touch what you intend to purchase. Lynn is the best. Her flowers are beautiful, she is very hard working and easy to trust. We used Lynn for our wedding and we are so glad we did. She was by far the easiest vendor to work with, and we still get comments on our flowers today. The biggest reason we chose Lynn was because of her style. We were looking for a bit more of a free/wild style, and she did great. We had a foodie wedding and she even agreed to put some veggies scattered through some of the table bouquets which looked really amazing and was a pretty cool touch. On top of all this, Lynn donates all her flowers afterwards to nursing homes so they continue to get use, instead of throwing them all away, which takes work! Tells you something about her character. How do you know you've found the perfect wedding florist? Maybe it's when she knows the name and season of every flower from your vague descriptions ("The thingie with the little wispy thingies"). Maybe it's when she uses only locally grown, environmentally friendly blooms. Maybe it's when she is truly flexible and willing to work with you, regardless of your budget. Lynn and the team made our last minute wedding (1.5 month notice) seems like it's been planned for a whole year! Exceeding our expectations isn't enough to describe how satisfied we are. I have tried to contact Pollen twice. I sent an email through Pollen's website contact form. No response. Called and left a voice mail, no response. I left a detailed message about booking them for a wedding both times. Pollen may be a great florist but I wouldn't know since they don't return phone calls. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. If they aren't available or interested in supplying flowers for an event, they should at least call back to say thanks but no thanks. I wanted an uber cool, modern, classy look to our flowers - and was having NO luck finding a florist that matched my vision AND my retardedly low budget. We used Pollen for our wedding and it was PERFECTION. At risk of sounding like a crazy fangirl, Lynn is one of my new favorite human beings. My husband and I know nothing about flowers and we didn't want to spend much of our budget on them, so we asked our venue for recommendations on florists. During our initial meeting with Lynn, she asked thoughtful questions to figure out what we were looking for. She took her time to show us pictures of various styles and sizes of bouquets and arrangements. We met with one other florist, but Lynn really distinguished herself by not rushing through everything and by going into some more explanations than the other business we visited. She was quick to get a proposal sent to us, which was very clear about pricing (and she stayed well within our budget). While we didn't get to see an exact sample of what our arrangements would look like, we had seen enough of her work to trust that the execution would be flawless- and it sure was! When we get our pictures from the photographer, I will definitely upload them! Lastly, in terms of logistics, Lynn was super organized and punctual. We needed bridal party flowers delivered to our hotel very early so we could take pictures before the ceremony. She got them to us and didn't even need to call me (helpful since I was running around like a crazy person). Then, when we got to the venue, she took our bouquets and put them in water and fluffed them up (not a technical term) to make sure they weren't droopy after being out in the hot humid city. They're so gorgeous and smelled amazing! We didn't do a lot of decorations at the wedding, so the flowers were the primary design element. We met with Lynn to review our preferences - it was really easy. We picked a color theme, a style (ranges from wild/natural to manicured/structured), and looked at sample flowers from the season of our wedding. I love that she uses whatever is in season and that she repurposes the flowers after the wedding to donate to nursing homes or hospitals. She delivered the corsages and boutonnieres herself to the hotel and included a QR code on the boxes so you could look up how to pin them, which came in extremely handy that day. Pollen was a recommendation from our wedding coordinator so Lynn was added to our list when exploring florists in Chicago. Then, after having a few conversations (via email and phone), I knew that Pollen was the top choice for us. We got married at Salvage One so we wanted to keep that vintage, eclectic look throughout all of our décor so I wanted to use a mix/match of containers for the centerpieces to accompany the succulents. Lynn has an amazing collection of containers that we were able to use along with metallic votive candles that added that beautiful, soft glow to the space. Our final selection was peonies and succulent for the bouquets and succulents for the boutonnieres. And then Lynn did amazing job of creating unique centerpieces for every table (20 in total) at our reception. In planning a wedding, the amount of planning and over planning and planning *way* far in advance for some things started becoming laughable. But there was something we forgot....or let's just say, didn't care to think much about... Flowers. Ugh. Keep in mind we are not girly girls. Val's favorite flower is a carnation because they last forever. I really don't have one and tend to go for the pretty ones at the farmer's market. The original plan was to go to Whole Foods the day of the wedding, pick some shit out and get a friend to put it together on the tables. But closer to the date, more and more we realized, we just might need some professionally done flowers. Ugh. In comes Yelp and out comes the great company Pollen with Lynn at the helm. And she was exactly what we needed. We described the space, the colors, the vibe and she came up with arrangements for every table, boutonnieres and corsages for the wedding party, and a huge arrangement for the piano on the stage. I as some other girls, thought that I was going to do my flowers wholesale from costco until I realized I didn't want to go through the trouble of arranging my flowers myself and bringing them to the site and everything! I came across Pollen through yelp and read great reviews! so I decided to give them a chance. Looked up their website and submitted a message, in order to set up a consultation. I receive an email back from Lynn, letting me know what the Delivery min in the city and in the burbs is and to fill out the questionnaire to see if we're a good fit for each other. I do as asked, and fill out the form, since I only really wanted flowers for the bridal party I checked the answer that stated "under $$ (available only for pick-up during peak wedding season)", and immediately receive an email from Lynn stating their mins for the city and burbs again and quoting the email, "It looks we aren't the right fit for what you are looking for, but if you try a florist closer to your venue, you may have better luck and be able to have someone pick up the flowers even if they have a minimum order". My venue is providing the flowers for the reception, and the church doesn't need that much decoration. If anything I would get something small for the church and only need flowers for my bridal party. One of the reasons I considered pollen was because there was review that stated "our floral budge was small, a few florist that I contacted were not interested in our business since we only needed personal flowers (bouquets and boutonnieres). Lynn was great about working within our budget." It's obvious that this isn't the case, since I immediately received an email telling me to look for another florist. makes me wonder how many of the reviews are real. read more

I found Lynn here on Yelp because I was looking for a wedding florist that had green initiatives and would be creative and open to idea of not having any flowers at the wedding. I am probably the only girl that hates flowers, but I do and I did not want any at my wedding, but the only thing I hate more than flowers is the post wedding waste that is created with traditional practices. From the moment I walked into her studio, I knew she was the girl for me and her presentation and first meeting just constantly solidified it for me. She was just as excited about the idea of no flowers as I was, which made me feel even more excited, and the collaboration we had was perfect. She followed my board on Pinterest so we could have easy communication about things I like. I would post stuff in there and she would like things and we would talk about specific posts. The main direction I gave her was no flowers and that my favorite plants were ferns and fiddleheads. The arrangements that Lynn made from that direction, was beyond anything I could've imagined. All of it was the most perfect display and most beautiful pieces I have ever seen in my life and never could've imagined any thing like that myself. We got our boutonnieres and bouquets in the morning while we were getting ready so we would have them for our wedding pictures. It was so fun to see them and Lynn early. It really added to the excitement of that morning. Then Lynn came back later in the afternoon and did all the setup for the ceremony at The Rookery. Jewell Catering was setting up the tables for the reception and she added to those and did the setup for the rest of the place before people got there. Everything was beautiful. We had lots of little geometric terrariums at the front tables and cocktail tables, low displays on the dinner tables around the perimeter and then huge topiary-like trees on the center dinner tables that also doubled as the arrangements for the ceremony. My bridesmaid found Lynn through searching online reviews and was instantly impressed with Pollen's website and Lynn's professional, welcoming personality over the phone. I decided to meet with Lynn in person to discuss my vision for my wedding flowers and was pleasantly surprised! Lynn was a joy to work with and although we only scheduled an hour we ended up brainstorming and talking for longer! Lynn is a true flower expert and not only got my style and vision, but also offered expert advice of how best to arrange the flowers for each aspect of the wedding and also which types of flowers would look best. She was not pushy at all about a $ minimum or suggesting "common" wedding elements, but rather was open to any and all ideas and made it a priority to do exactly what I wanted. We got married at Salvage One, which is a gorgeous space full of eclectic architectural salvage pieces, and so we didn't want a bunch of flowers competing with the space. We did, however, want some gorgeous flowers for my bouquet, the bridesmaids and groomsmen, and of course for our parents and grandparents to wear. I gave Lynn this instruction, "Make something beautiful with dahlias and maybe some succulent something-or-others." She came up with arrangements so stunning that I couldn't have even dreamed of them. And on top of all that, she delivered them, pinned flowers on suspenders, and fashioned a corsage at the last second with the "emergency kit" in her van, AND helped me find a way to incorporate a silver sixpence given to me by my husband's amazing aunt (I wore sandals so I couldn't get it into my shoe...). My mom is a former florist so I let her coordinate everything with Lynn (remotely, as she's located in Boston) and the only input we provided was during the initial sit down meeting where we reviewed a ton of pictures and we discussed which images we loved, liked, disliked.... She had requested that we pin some images we liked, prior to this sit down and I had unknowingly selected some of her designs! She really understood our vision, just through that initial meeting. Our 'vision' was an eclectic mix of soft hues, shapes and sizes. We likened it to a wild garden tea party and she completely nailed it! We had vases of different shapes, sizes and finishes, and all of the arrangements, while each being completely different, complemented each other perfectly. I've actually never attended a wedding where I heard everyone discussing the flowers so much! Our guests (and we) were just blown away by the beauty of everything! Everyone at Pollen is super friendly, knowledgeable and just wonderful. The flowers might've been my favorite part of the wedding, they were so perfect! Lynn not only put together absolutely incredible arrangements for our September wedding (about which everyone RAVED), she was just a wonderful person to work with. She listened to all of our needs and made our space look magical. She is a true artist but is also down-to-earth and approachable and despite now being one of the most popular and busy florists, was quick to respond to all of our communications with her. Lynn and her team at Pollen were fantastic! We booked Pollen for our wedding day and boy did they deliver! I had a difficult time expressing my vision to Lynn during our consultations, but she somehow took my vague comments and turned them into exactly what I had imagined. We have received so many compliments on our flowers and they looked amazing in pictures. We truly think Lynn's floral design elevated the feel of our venue to create a level of elegance that would not have been achieved without her and her team's hard work. Lynn designed the flowers for our December wedding and I can't say enough great things about her work! I found Pollen on Yelp last year and have been comforted watching the 5 star reviews pile up, and our experience was no different. Lynn was easy to work with from the beginning - we only met one time to discuss what my fiance and I had in mind (which was very vague as we are not flower people) and she took it from there. We had a strict budget and Lynn provided us with a proposal that fell within our restrictions while still giving us beautiful flower arrangements that were unique. On the day of the wedding flowers were definitely one of the things furthest from my mind and this was no problem! Lynn was professional and on time - she dropped off the girls' bouquets and then went and set up the ceremony arrangements and it all went flawlessly. We were so happy with our experience working with Pollen for our wedding. Lynn was great about listening to what flowers we liked and creating such gorgeous flower arrangements for our wedding!! We were so thrilled with how everything turned out. Our arch, bouquets, table arrangements, corsages, etc were all perfect!
