Dr. Adolph Mares is a kind and gentle physician. However, at my recent appointment (September 2024)…read morefor an annual EKG checkup my case was assisted by a male technician for medication review, blood pressure check & EKG test. During previous visits I had female assistants, which I do prefer when it comes to exams that require removal of clothing. I didn't want to raise an issue initially so I continued with the male assistant. When it came time to execute the EKG, some protocols were not executed. I was not given a gown to change into and due to oils & lotion on my skin I had to remove with alcohol pads for the EKG monitors to adhere to my skin properly. The male assistant watched as I removed the oils from my chest, groin, and breast area. This was unusual protocol because during past appointments I was given a gown and privacy to prepare for the test. As a woman I prefer and will ensure to advocate for female doctors & assistants in order to prevent any uncomfortable situations. I did speak up just prior to the execution of the EKG, requesting a female technician. Ladies protect your bodies, comfort, & privacy when receiving healthcare, do not be afraid to speak up & advocate for yourself.

Was a patient of this medical facility for almost 2 years due to a traumatic work injury initially…read morewhen I became a patient the group was known as Federal comp and wellness and I was extremely satisfied with the amount of care and knowledge that my assigned doctor gave me. I worked one on one with the same doctor over a course of almost 2 years before this medical group was bought out and became CENTEX. AFTER THE CLINIC BECAME CENTEX the service and attention that I was used to receiving completely disappeared I showed up to a follow-up appointment to learn that the doctor that I had been working with closely for two years had retired and I received no notification not through my patient portal through email through postal mail or through personal email not even a phone call not to mention during their migration to this new owner ship they changed the software 50 used to manage their scheduling and patient portal access. They scheduled follow-up visits for me using their old software and when I arrived on the date and time of my appointment there was no record of it I was literally turned away because of one of their software programming errors. I guess everybody was too excited to have their new ownership their new titles their new schedules their new office their new incomes to make sure that the patients were still being taken care of. A complete stranger to my case was assigned as my attending physician and after having one office visit with him it was blatantly clear that he had zero knowledge or understanding of what my history was the plan that myself and my recently retired attentive doctor had so closely worked on for 2 years together. It was obvious that there was zero communication between the people riding up handling administrative duties and the faces in the clinic talking to the patients for example my case administrator had written of a medical narrative to supply to the Department of Labor detailing this seriousness and the status of my work injury and that I was at that point in time partially temporarily disabled. 2 Days later I am surprised with my new doctor who has no idea what's going on with me I doubt he even knew what part of my body was injured and he made an official report deeming me ready to return to work whole time after I was told More physical therapy was ordered for another three more months and that the administrative individuals employed by his own office painted a very different picture just 2 days before. Talk about embarrassing and incompetent and infuriating. I expressed my dissatisfaction to this doctor and at my next visit I was assigned yet another doctor who was a spunky rude little girl. I never went back and she screwed up my paperwork too they ended up compromising my compensation in which I ended up having to appeal which took months and a lot of time and effort on my own while still suffering from my work injury.

I have to preface this by saying the medical care I receive at this clinic from physicians and…read morestaff is great. However, since changing to Little River Health Care, the billing department has gone from bad to horrible. If you have an overpayment, they don't send a statement telling you (you have to find out accidentally like they don't want you to know about it) and they refuse to refund it. I've been trying for 9 months to have my overpayment refunded and they keep finding excuses to not return it. Then I am told it will take a minimum of 12 weeks to process the refund after they agree to it. Also, it is now taking months for insurance payments to be credited to your account (I'm still waiting on a December payment to be credited and it's May). Unfortunately, because of the billing frustration, I can't return to this clinic. There are too many other options for medical care to have to deal with this billing department. More... I had a well-woman visit (my last at this clinic) where lab work was done. After a month, I called to find out why I had not received the results (in the past, a copy has come in the mail). I was told they could tell me over the phone if I was in normal ranges but if I wanted a copy, I would have to fill out paperwork and pay $25 to receive my results. So it's my blood, I paid to have it tested and if I want to see the results, have to pay an additional $26. I said it is a ridiculous policy and was told "That's how Little River Healthcare is structured." Another reason to go elsewhere.

When I questioned the charges, I was told that I never had an appointment--despite having both email and phone confirmation clearly showing otherwise. Things went downhill from there. I asked to speak directly with the dentist for clarification and was refused. The office manager told me that the dentist "does not deal with patients," that it was her job, and that there was no one else I could speak to. Her tone was dismissive and accusatory, and she essentially implied that I was lying. This was especially unfortunate because I genuinely liked the dentist and the dental assistant and had no issues with the clinical care itself. However, the behavior of the office manager was shockingly unprofessional and completely unacceptable. A dental office should value transparency, communication, and respect for patients. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I will be taking my care elsewhere.
