He attached the crown to the partial and it fits like it did before. He didn't charge her for the work he did even though he could have. Nurses, hygienists, and front office staff are great. Very unprofessional people honestly. Updating to state that I decided not to fight my bill but I do believe people should proceed with caution. They throw the bill at me and show me "proof" that they processed bills correctly and it was my insurance's fault. Well it's their job to find out why the claim was denied, not mine. My insurance has no records of their supposed original billing. Anyways it's something that should've been communicated immediately between this office and my insurance, not throwing a surprise bill at me almost 14 months later. Asides from that, they really need to improve their customer service. They pretend to be nice in their feedback but throw underhanded comments. Don't believe me? Look at all their lowest ratings on here and Google and see the "great" customer service they have and the insults thrown along with it. I got an email response and the way they suggested that they're doing military families a social/dental favor is disgusting and demeaning. TL;DR: RIP OFF! Avoid like the plague. Initially I wasn't going to bother with a review because I thought it was just a one-off thing, but I've recently found at least three other people that Polished has tried to scam. First: ALL THE GLOWING REVIEWS ARE FROM WHEN THIS BUSINESS WAS RUN BY A DIFFERENT DENTIST. Alright, now to my experience. The office is lovely. The staff are extremely warm and welcoming. I didn't wait long and was called back and had an exam and some X-rays, plus some sort of neat 3D imaging thing. I hadn't had a professional cleaning in about 2.5 years due to COVID concerns, but my general dental hygiene has always been good. I had only had one very superficial cavity in my life and I am almost 30. This was also the first civilian dentist I had seen as an adult- last time I had dental care was as an active duty Marine. This is also an explanation for why I initially took this business's actions as normal. I was told I had SIX cavities. 6!! I thought: "ok, I haven't had a cleaning in a while. Best get it taken care of!" They also suggested I get my permanent retainer removed...that I've had for well over a decade... They suggested I get new sealants. (Great advice, but this comes back later.) The bill? OVER $1900!!!!! I have TWO insurances! I have Guardian dental insurance AND United Concordia. I'll attach a photo of my bill. I thought this was just normal, so I paid in full up front to get a discount. (Positive note: they were good about giving me all my money back when I called them and canceled later on.) I scheduled my next appointment for the procedures and went on my way. But then I started thinking. My Guardian dental is supposed to cover 90% of my non-preventative costs and 100% of preventative! I remembered this being a huge perk of the plan. And the United Concordia is supposed to cover 60% non preventative and 100% preventative. What in the world? So I looked closer at the bill. 1) My cleaning was listed as not covered by insurance. When I later called and asked why they said it's because I had dental disease so insurance wouldn't cover it, which is a load of baloney. $193.48 2) Sealants, which are literally listed on the bill as "preventative restoration" were being charged at full cost! These are supposed to be covered completely. $267 3) they added some charges for "nerve regeneration" and the portion with the fillings. As a scientist myself, I decided to read more about this. The research behind it is minimal, at best. And they wanted to charge me $129 per filling! Top cavities: $528.80 Bottom cavities: $487.42 4) Unnecessarily removing my fixed retainer: $193.92 5) Fitting me for a device to help with my TMJ: $250 So next I got a second and even third opinion. Turns out I had 2 cavities, not 6! Only one protruded into the dentin, which was one side of a "kissing cavity". The actual cost of my care, where I got the fillings and a cleaning? $0 because I have two dental insurances. That's a hell of a lot less than $1900+... I was also told that I should not remove my permanent retainer unless I consult an orthodontist, and that a mouthguard would not necessarily help my TMJ. These people are preying on naivety and the faith we are supposed to have in supposed experts of their trade. We should be able to go to the dentist and trust that we actually need the work done that they are recommending for us. It is sad that the new owner is sullying the business name that the previous dentist seems to have built up wonderfully. Do not trust them! They do not care enough to verify insurance coverage and leave you with a bill. Some of the staff are pleasant and for that I give a star. I was a faithful patient since I moved to California. I love the cleanliness and my interactions with the hygienist and Dr. However, my last visit I was told would be covered within my routine cleaning coverage under my insurance. When I arrived at my appointment I was told I had to pay out of pocket for my cleaning or pay $100 cancellation fee if I decided not to do the appointment that day. Apparently they made a mistake with understanding when my policy renews and did not issue me a refund although it was their mistake. At the least I should've been given the option of rescheduling my appointment for the following week so I could remain within coverage. I was forced to pay regardless for their mistake and I do not find that fair at all. read more

Best dental office in town, I come from 45min away. There's no substitute for a skilled dentist you can trust. The office is always clean and beautiful, they have the friendliest staff who are always working together, modern equipment, and TV's on the ceiling! All the dentists at the office are great, I see Allen Kim. He is always staying on top of the latest and greatest in the dentistry field, and is a master of his craft. I have been able to get treatments in a single visit that use to take me weeks and multiple visits. I use to dread going to the dentist and this place has changed my whole experience. read more

I was a patient for a little over two years. I started coming here because Dr. Shelton accepted my obscure dental insurance, and later I even signed up for their membership program. But I never really developed a sense of trust with anyone here. They use fairly high pressure sales tactics and make aggressive treatment recommendations. For example, once I went in for a cleaning and Dr. Shelton, the hygienist, and the receptionist made this awkward coordinated sales pitch, where each person randomly and casually steered our conversation to a $300 toothbrush they were hawking, each making sure to highlight their favorite feature. It was a real life infomercial. But more seriously, this type of sales pressure also pervaded the dental care they provided. When I had some gum sensitivity, they laid it on pretty thick with a lot of scare tactics. It was like the staff was trying to earn commissions for doing extra procedures. They even held my teeth hostage by refusing to perform the cleaning that I came in for, and said "there's nothing we can do" unless you submit to a deep clean or even surgery. They made it sound urgent and said my gums would never get better without aggressive treatment. When they refused to clean my teeth in January citing the need for surgery, I said I would get a second opinion. I had to wait 5 months until I could get an appointment with a periodontist of my choosing. By the time I went, the perio said everything in my mouth looked fine and even looked at the X-rays that Dr. Shelton's team took. They said there's no plausible case for doing anything surgical, and said I just needed the cleaning that Dr. Shelton's team denied me. Even giving Dr. Shelton the benefit of the doubt that there was an issue at the time they saw me, the fact that the issue resolved itself in a few months contradicts the scare tactics they used to try to get me to commit to the surgery. Sometimes I wonder if I would have gotten less pressure if I wasn't a member and they also had an insurance company to answer to. I chose this place to be my dental office first because Liz up at the front was so kind and made scheduling extremely easy. So I stopped in to see Dr. Shelton at her new dental office. She is my Invisalign doctor and so I had to come check out her new office and I am in love. It's in the same building as the office I originally met her in when I started my treatment. Super cute modern office. I went in during the holiday season and it was decorated super cute. Anyway I digress; I was pleased to see that the front office staff who helped me were super sweet and made the whole process a breeze. They helped me with getting all my paperwork and insurance figured out as well as getting my case transferred over. But truly the best part of it is being able to see a dentist who I trust and respect. I know all my questions are going to be answered but never in a way that makes me feel dental stupid. Similar to other reviews below, I was completely ripped off by this dentist 6 months ago. I had slacked off during COVID and when I was pregnant and hadn't had a cleaning for about a year. I knew my gums weren't as healthy as they could be but didn't think it was too big of a deal... they told me I not only had 6 cavities (when I've never had a cavity in my life) but I also had periodontal disease and needed a "deep cleaning". My total bill even with insurance was around $2000. They scared me so much that I went through with the deep cleaning and fillings. They then wanted me to come back only 4 weeks later to "check if the deep cleaning worked and do another regular cleaning" and said that I had to do this because I had periodontal disease... I finally came to my senses and decided to get a second opinion with a dentist near my parents' house that I've known for years and trust. I saw him 5 months after my experience with Polished Dental and he told me I have no evidence of cavities, my gums are perfectly healthy and that I do not have periodontal disease... he told me I was completely ripped off my Polished Dental and should never go back there. I'm annoyed with myself for being talked in to all these unnecessary things and I hope this review will help someone else stop and look for a second opinion if they are experiencing the same up-selling and scare tactics from Polished Dental. read more

He has a very calm presence, respectful, and hums a song while he works :) I was as nervous as anyone would be going to the dentist, but after only a few minutes, the fear went away, and I just enjoyed watching Netflix while he fixed my tooth. High pressure sales tactics everywhere you look. I liked Dr Shelton's work when she worked at another group dentistry office so I naturally followed her when she opened her own business. The great dentistry continues but to the expense of my sanity and my checkbook. One time they even refused to just give me a teeth cleaning and instead told me the only thing they would do is a deep cleaning. When I told them I was going to have my friend back home in LA (an amazing dentist schooled at the USC dental school and someone who gives me a big break price wise) do my deep cleaning and then come back for my regular cleaning, the hygienist informed me "we don't share patients". Hind site, I should have just left. But I wanted my teeth cleaned and didn't want to wait 2 more months. Stupid me. Reading all these other bad reviews, I'm seeing this was the act often pulled. Funny story- on a Facebook page for military spouses, a family new to the area was asking for a dentist referral. People came out of the woodwork saying "stay away from Polished....they are one of the few that take our dental insurance but it's worth your time to drive to another area to avoid the high pressure sales tactics. After contemplating my exam, I feel like this is office is a slick sales job. But they are very nice and compassionate, so it feels more like dealing with a mattress salesman than a car salesman. They recommended many invasive interventions that I didn't think were necessary. I was down in the dumps and depressed for several weeks after my exam, contemplating how my teeth could have gotten to such a bad state. I decided to go to a different dentist for a second opinion, and almost none of the interventions were recommended. I got a normal cleaning, with compliments from the hygienist on how great my teeth were. This only reassures me that Polished was trying to take advantage of me, and was leading me to believe I needed unnecessarily invasive treatments and interventions. The only reason I did not give 1 star is because I think if you're used to conventional mainstream dentistry, you probably won't mind this sort of approach. Details: - In my exam, they must have done over a dozen x-rays. For as many dental x-rays I've had done in my life, I've never had even half this many x-rays done in one sitting. - The exam and cleaning chairs are not in private rooms. Rather, there is a half wall, and you can hear & see the other patients. I'm not a fan of this at all. There is zero privacy. - Everyone was very nice, kind, and compassionate. read more

Polished is under new ownership. This review has a part for the previous owner and new one. New owner: My husband went in for a cleaning that was scheduled ~6 months prior to his appt. During this time, Polished came under new ownership and there was zero communication of this. When he arrived for his appt, they did NOT clean his teeth, charged him a visitation fee and said he needed a ~$600 deep clean. Horrible first impression. If you're not going to honor what someone set an appt for, you need to communicate that prior to them coming in. Good luck, Dr. Kim - my husband and I will be finding a new dentist. Previous ownership under Dr. Shelton: Polished worked with my husband's orthodontist for spacing for implants. Dr. Shelton told the ortho exactly what to do. Months later and a ~$200 special X-ray later, she informed the ortho she couldn't do it even though they did exactly as she told them. He should have been referred to a specialist and Dr. Shelton should have been upfront with her abilities. We are a year over when his braces should have been off and are now working with a pro (who is also telling the ortho what to do). It was a lot of time wasted. There is equal fault on the ortho for not referring him to a specialist. However, my husband was very happy with their general dentistry (cleanings, fillings, etc.). read more

GET A SECOND OPINION (This office mostly has good reviews from previous ownership) I hate to give the whole office a bad reputation because the staff is all very nice and personable. I got lucky and listened to my own skepticism. I connected plenty of dots and did my research and combined with my personal experience, something felt off. I found out that the office takes advantage of you by throwing around the words: "medical necessity" and "aesthetics" in regards to their procedures. They are going to tell you a procedure is medically necessary and use scare tactics so that you don't think twice about the cost! Just read the other one star reviews that are recent and align with my conclusions. After calling my insurance to check the provided *codes* on their treatment plan, many of the medical necessities were actually just for aesthetic purposes, therefore creating a larger out of pocket cost. After finding another in-network Dentist with a long-standing reputation, I was provided with a new treatment plan that was literally ONE FIFTH of the bill at Polished General Dentistry. Everyone was amazing from the front office staff to the hygienists. I was so nervous because I'd never had any emergency dental work done, but Shar and Theresa took great care of me and made the whole process a lot less scary. Dr. Kim was kind, gentle, and empathetic. He checked in with me regularly while fixing my tooth and made sure I wasn't having pain. Dont let their positive attitudes and positive reviews fool you! I would never recommend this dentist to anyone. They are a complete SCAM. I had an appointment about a month ago and let them know I hadn't been to the dentist in a while. They claimed that I had 4 cavities that needed to be filled, my wisdom teeth needed to be removed, and I needed invisalign. They created a payment plan for $1,600 and told me that I couldn't pay on the day of the appointment because I would be drugged up. I decided to prepay because they told me I could get 5% off. I wasn't expecting all of this and was caught off guard thinking this was including my wisdom teeth. I then found out it was JUST only for my cavities. Upon examining the bill, I find $500 was being charged for "nerve regeneration ". I consulted numerous professionals in the dental industry and EVERY single time they said it's BS. Two weeks before my appointment I call to cancel and to get a refund. On the agreement page I had signed when I prepaid, it says they will charge you $100 + $100 per hour of work IF YOU CANCEL WITHIN TWO DAYS OF YOUR APPOINTMENT. As I was on the phone with one of the receptionists, she told me they can refund me for most of it, but they would still charge me the $200 reservation fee for canceling. I told her no, the agreement states you will get charged for cancelling two days prior to your appointment; not two weeks and I would not be accepting that. She tried to explain that it was a specialty appointment and that it's different. I told her I would still not be paying that because I was not explained that in person and there was nothing in any of the documentation that stated anything about a specialty appointment. I was furious and mentioned that this felt like it was all a scam. She told me she would have the accountant call me back. When she called me back, she agreed to give me all my money back but stated that they were not a scam and they only give exceptional care and that other dentists are out for your money. Since then I found an amazing dentist who gave me a second opinion in which he stated I have no cavities and had no idea what polished was trying to get at, but I do... it was my money. read more

Absolutely horrible experience. Lied to me about billing my insurance and when I called my insurance to see what was up they said they were never even contacted. Very clear that this business is simply that. A business. They try every possible method to get all the money they can from you. $100 fee any time you have to reschedule and $100 down payment just to book an appointment in the first place. The staff is rude and difficult to reach. They are short with you on the phone and get annoyed when you ask about prices. They WILL sell unnecessary treatment to you and guilt you when you don't want it. The staff is very bad at minding personal space. Extremely uncomfortable around them. VERY expensive dentist! To be fair, the staff and dentist herself was very nice; however, you will NOT get a cleaning on your first appointment. They have a policy that states you must pay for any service before you have it done. I had x-rays and an exam (because it's covered by insurance) but I had to come back for the cleaning and it was $200 (AFTER insurance paid their portion)! I've never paid additional for a cleaning in my life. It's all well and good to have state of the art techniques, but they should work with insurance companies much better. read more

Polished Dental is the best dentistry office in the world. I can say this since I've lived all over the USA and in Asia. In addition, I've recently needed extensive dental care for me and my entire family. Dr. Robbins is the most caring, respectful, understanding, and most patient dentist I have ever met. She takes the time to make sure you understand your dental health and carefully walks you through the path to healthy teeth and gums. I am a scientist by trade, and thus I have hundreds of questions that normal dentists would find annoying. Dr. Robbins is always willing and truly happy to answer all of my questions and concerns. I look forward to the education I receive every time I go. One of the most amazing things about Dr. Robbins is that she reaches out to me via text the day after a big procedure to see how I am doing (wow!). Once, I needed additional information, and she rapidly responded to me via text during the weekend. The front office ladies and hygienists are sweet as can be and are always willing to help by explaining treatments, insurance, and scheduling. I generally avoid the dentist due to fear, but their front office and staff are so sweet that most of the fear goes away upon arrival. They have state-of-the-art equipment and assistants are all highly trained and educated. My latest experience involves my wife, with limited English skills, who needed an extraction but did not want to do it. My wife repeatedly delayed the needed procedure due to fear. She finally agreed to take an appointment for removal but got cold feet upon arrival. The entire office was involved in explaining the ups and downs to her while making her feel safe and in full control. Their commitment to us brought tears to my eyes. Everyone here is so friendly. I always feel super taken care of. And after every visit they give you a nice quality care package of the following: electric toothbrush replacement (if you ask), toothbrush, chapstick, and floss. You know how expensive electric toothbrushes are, this is super appreciated. The front desk ladies are amazing, they answer all my questions and hear out all my concerns if I have any. THEY ACCEPT CARE CREDIT. Which is awesome cuz I can finance anything I get done here and boost my credit as well. They also have an in house x-ray machine, iTero 3D scanner, and porcelain crown making machine. They can do a lot of procedures in house, which is really time saving and convenient for me. I have Guardian insurance and they definitely accept that. After a lifetime of having dental care through MediCal, this place is a breath of fresh air. I've never had such great, understanding, and thorough dental care. Dr. Shelton is fantastic, kind, welcoming, understanding, and an all around positive entity who really made me feel reassured about every procedure (I've had a wisdom tooth extraction and crown done here, and it was painless physically and insurance-ly). Speaking of insurance, Amanda from insurance was very patient and thorough whenever I would ask what each itemized thing on my receipt meant. And if there was anything she wasn't sure about, she would go above and beyond to get me an answer quickly. Which I really appreciated. I definitely plan to get Invisalign here. I probably will update this review with a before/after. But for now, with all my heart I can confidently say I would trust Polished General Dentistry with all my Dental care needs, and absolutely recommend them if your insurance is accepted here! My appointment was last august, first impressions of the place were that the office was gorgeous.It was flashy and had cute farmhouse decor not to mention the front receptionist was extremely attentive and greeted me by name as I walked into the office even though it was my first time. My visit was very pleasant the reason for my low rating is I was told I had about 6 cavities and my old fillings were lifting/leaking I can't remember the term they used but they needed to be replaced -now this was alarming to me as my previous cleaning and fillings were only 6 months ago and I don't indulge in sweets. I was told I was "cavity prone" by my hygienist and that it tends to run in the family. Mind you I have never been told this by any other dentists in the past. In total each cavity costs a ridiculous amount to fill and I could only get two filled per visit.. so I had my cleaning done and went about my day.. ONE month later I flew back to my hometown in the south and went to see a well renowned dentist in my town only to be told that I had 0 cavities and my teeth were in perfect health. The old fillings I had were slightly stained but nothing to worry about.. Take this information as you will. But you can miss me with that shadiness. You're not going to make up that I have cavities to get my money. That's cruel and a dirty way to make business. read more

Update: I have to say the Dr has been in contact with me and let me cancel the appointment I did go in for a bite adjustment and the tooth is feeling a bit better but I just hope they are listing to the customers there are a few negative reviews that involve Kelly I'm not a current business owner but did take some college courses in business management and it seems that Kelly might not be good for business maybe to bring in the revenue but at the cost of the business reputation. I did get to make it to my wife's prenatal appointment and we didn't nt leave with good news at least I was able to be with her through these difficult times rather than at a dentist appointment. Original Review: Had a a crown done here about a month ago and it has been hurting since the numbing went out the same day. I've been dealing with the pain for a while just haven't had the time to take off work with a busy schedule to come in and get it repaired on top of the crown not beeing seated evenly with the other teeth. I got a call yesterday morning about an appointment for two days out I asked the appointment girl Kelly that I was in meeting at work and couldn't talk if she could call me back in a few minutes well I didnt get a call back and when I realized later in the day that she didn't call me back I asked my wife to call but by this time she said it was too late to reschedule and would be charged for canceling outside of the cancellation period...again thanks for the call back Kelly. So now Im trying to juggle my wife's prenatal appointment, this appointment and dealing with a loss in the family with the possibility of another loss with my wife possibly loosing the baby due to complications is why I wanted to make the prenatal appointment. So I take today off on my own accord thinking I can get the dental work done today so I can make it to my wife's followup appointment they were able to get me in today but according to how they have me scheduled I still will miss the prenatal appointment. So to clarify thanks for the call back Kelly to confirm my appointment and on top of that to add insult to injury it's my fault for not coming in any sooner to get repair work done even though the paperwork says you could have discomfort for up to a month in my opinion if the work was done right I wouldn't need to take time off work to repair what wasn't done right the first time around. Im going in today and if they can't get me all fixed up today tough shit. read more

Great first time experience at Dr. Shelton's office. Amber (the hygienist) was very gentle/thorough and did an awesome job taking my x-rays and doing my cleaning. They both answered all of my questions and Dr. Shelton explained my future recommended dental work in a clear and concise manner. Kelly and Brittany at the front desk were also very nice and helpful. I truly felt taken care of here. They addressed my needs instead of my wants and I am so happy with that. I know they are serious about healthy teeth and gums. And the staff was amazing!!! They loved on my 3 kids for more than 2 hours while I was getting major work done and I am so grateful especially during COVID. You can't find any babysitters during this time and we're new in town. Dr. Kim is THE BEST. I hadn't been to the dentist in years, mostly because of my fear of the dentist and because of my insecurity with my teeth. As soon as I started seeing Dr. Kim, he made me feel so comfortable! He's very patient and kind.
