Got in quickly through the cancellation list which I was thankful for, specifically for a cleaning and x-rays. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. At my recent visit, the hygienist suddenly told me I was "losing bone," which made no sense since six months ago this was not an issue. A quick Google search confirmed what I already suspected: you do not lose that kind of bone density in six months. It became clear they were trying to upsell me on a $1700 deep cleaning. When I declined, they refused to give me a regular cleaning and said they "couldn't for liability reasons." That alone was a huge red flag. I also overheard the same deep-cleaning pitch being given to other patients around me. They even tried to charge me $169 for what used to be an $80 cleaning and sold me an unnecessary $50 mouth rinse. (Yes I paid is and did it for conscience but because of this they lost a patient I will not be going back.) A simple saltwater rinse or oil pulling at home would address what they claimed I had, not a $1700 procedure plus a 3% credit card surcharge. (I will test this theory and visit another dentist in March) If you used to go to the old Plaza Dental, this is NOT the same place anymore. The new ownership feels sales-driven and dishonest. I highly recommend getting a second opinion and saving yourself the time, money, and frustration. I do miss Dr Phan! She was great.
