I can't tell if this is a step back in time or not, but it certainly is far cry from the near-Millennium-Park sort of gift shop. If you aren't used to being in this part of the city, it is certainly a different world.
There is a very nice woman that runs the shop but she will assume you speak Polish regardless of what your ethnicity is. She'll catch on when you stare blankly after she runs off a few sentences in Polish, but her English seems pretty basic. It's definitely stripped down and non-glamorous, but that is what I like. I actually used to live in Poland and could have been convinced I was in Warsaw circa 1989 with a slightly smoky musk in the air and smorgasbord of items on display; most of them are definitely souvenir type of items... it makes me curious exactly who shops here? There is a handful of religious stuff in addition to clothing, mugs, flags, magnets, stickers, patches, scarves, etc. I came all the way out here for something very specific and they had it. Prices aren't listed on anything so you'll need to ask. read more
