Jimmie's is tucked just a few blocks from the historic courthouse. It's small and intimate, perfect for a date night, and seating is limited so plan ahead. The four-course meal was excellent. The crab cake with lemon butter sauce was outstanding. I'm not a seafood guy, but this one changed my mind. Melt-in-your-mouth good. The beef filet, ordered medium rare, was perfectly cooked and fork tender. The mashed potatoes were clearly not an afterthought. Heavy cream was involved. Probably some cheese. No complaints there. Jimmie stopped by our table during the meal, and we learned they were celebrating their 7th anniversary. It's not every day the chef checks on your table. That says something. They were basically all eggs and a light sprinkle of cheese I paid extra for. Between two burritos there was not even a full slice of bacon. The other two were different meats but also had barely any in it. For as long as we waited I expected everything to be piping hot, like steam coming out of it when I opened it. It wasn't. It was barely warm so I guess I was waiting for the people ahead of me. Also the burritos we had didn't have that crisp straight off the griddle taste with the tortilla. These tortillas were borderline soggy. The food tastes good but the lack of meat combined with the wait is a deal breaker for me. I won't return.
