A great co-working space in Evanston…read more coLab was probably the best co-working space in Evanston for the price. The price was great especially for the private office. The WiFi was fast. The space was well lit. The toilet was clean. One feedback is the noise isolation between private offices, but that's the problem with other co-working spaces in the area too. In short, I'd recommend coLab Evanston.

I waited almost a month after the promised delivery date and when the new shipment finally arrived, Dan the store manager, said my grill wasn't on that shipment. What we didn't realize was the absolutely giant variety of charcoal & gas grills and outdoor kitchens the store has. Seems that they have everything related to outdoor cooking. Many of the brands are ultra-premium. We have been cooking on the Big Green Egg exclusively, don't have a need for new gear, but it was really nice to hear about this stuff. Arriving hungry form the northwest suburbs we pleasantly surprised to find out they also SELL barbecue. It was lunchtime so we took a seat at the bar, each having a beer and a sandwich. The pulled pork and the brisket were really good. This is definitely a destination store, trip-worthy from anywhere. We will be back!

Conveniently located in the West Loop--blocks away from the Clinton El stop--the space is whimsical, bright, and book-filled. Last night I had the privilege of attending a fundraising event at the Literacenter to benefit the Chicago Literacy Alliance, a group of 100+ agencies helping people of all ages improve their literacy skills and working toward the goal of a 100% literate Chicago. For one evening only, the space was transformed into an interactive feast for the senses where guests could select from among 300 books, each one-of-a-kind, ranging from first editions and signed works to art made of books, and more. I had a blast mingling with my fellow bibliophiles and literacy supporters, enjoying drinks and desserts, checking out all of the books and silent auction items, and listening to live music from Chicago-based gypsy jazz band Fumee. This event exceeded my expectations and I am so pleased that I was able to support a very worthwhile cause and share in this celebration of the power of the written word.

I had heard of shared spaces but wasn't sure if it would work. I shopped around looking at various shared spaces and decided to go with Co-Lab. It was the best deal out of all the different co-working places. Miguel was very accommodating, loved the idea of having an IT person on site, and was able to set up a space suitable for my type of business. The best part is that I'm saving so much money running my business from here verses renting an office alone and adding up the cost of Internet, Office supplies, furniture, etc. Co-Lab is in a vibrant area with lots of businesses nearby. I've been able to expand my clientele just by being in this location and still maintain my existing clients. My clients even commented on the space, saying that it's such an improvement compared to my old location.
