If Yelp let me, I would rate the Summit Center with ten perfect stars. That is the exactly what…read morethis conference center deserves and then some. I work for a Fortune 100 company in downtown Chicago. For years, we have held meetings at the Summit Center. The location is excellent - right on Michigan Avenue, easily accessible to public transportation for those who need to access to/from both O'Hare and Midway Airports. There are many excellent hotels within walking distance, not to mention attractions for attendees who are visiting from out of town. The service. You just cannot find better service anywhere. The staff is trained to be able to help out with anything you need--you never have someone tell you that helping you with your request is "not their job" and leaving you to wait for someone who can assist. They put their clients first and immediately take care of anything that is needed. One of the best things about having events at the Summit was that they anticipated our needs - they seemed to know what I would need before I even had the chance to ask. The Summit staff takes the time to get to know you and the needs specific to your group. Because of the relationship they established with my company and me, they knew how I preferred my rooms to be set up, what types of food my picky people would eat, and were always flexible with our last-minute requests. The meeting space. If you want to take a client or your meeting participants to a place that will wow them, go to the Summit. The meeting rooms are beautiful. Often when you go to a conference center, the rooms can start to look shabby and dull. The rooms at the Summit are brightly lit with large windows, there are inspirational quotes on the colorful walls. No cheap banquet chairs here - all of the chairs are comfortable, ergonomic chairs. The a/v equipment is modern and the internet speed is probably faster than what we have in our office. The food. You definitely won't lose any weight or ever go hungry. The per person cost includes breakfast, a morning snack, a lunch and an afternoon snack. There is always something healthy to eat or something a little sinful (fresh cookies every day). The food is soooo good. The chefs do an amazing job of cooking for small to large groups and the food is always fresh and delicious. I don't think you could NOT have seconds. The Summit Center's owner, Louise Silberman, has created an amazing team. They are all passionate about providing customer service and making sure your event/meeting exceeds your expectations. Kudos to the Summit!

Basically my biggest complaint with this company is over-pricing and performing work that wasn't…read morethe issue. I get really tired of being overcharged for stuff like this as a woman. My ex-husband was an electrician, so I have a fair knowledge of what stuff costs. But also I don't really have anyone to help me with home stuff, so I rely on reviews & honesty. Sadly, sometimes I know I'm being ripped off but I don't have another option that will work at the time. I actually do a lot of stuff myself too as far as household repair. I can change fixtures, outlets etc. Years ago I actually helped my ex wire breaker boxes and pull wire for various family & friend projects, but I didn't do it often enough to retain the skill. Anyway, I was having an issue with an appliance in my house. I explained the problem and it was during the holiday season, so many places weren't responding to calls. This place did. I took photos of various wiring & breaker box. The owner said my washer was probably not on a dedicated breaker. There had been work done in my place, but not in the washer closet, so I'm not sure why this was now an issue. I was going back & forth with whether it was an electrical issue or appliance issue. The thing that made me want to check electric was that weirdly, when I plugged something into an adjacent GFCI, the washer would intermittently work. I explained all this in my phone call. The only issue I could see was possibly a bad GFCI switch, but when I pulled off the outlet cover to think about replacing myself, it was a tangle of wires I didn't want to mess with myself. Anyway, he said send a couple of workers. If it was a bad GFCI no problem but if the breaker needed to be changed, two workers, 2 days to fish around about $1400. I live in a small condo, my breaker box was on the other side of the wall from the washer. There were no long hallways or basements to fish thru, 10 feet at most. I already had gone without the washer for 2 weeks. No one else was calling back. The electricians showed up promptly. They said it was the breaker. Fished wires. 1.5 to 2 hours later they were done. I asked the cost. The worker stepped into the hall to call his boss. He came back and said he said $1400 was discussed. I replied "that was the cost if it was two guys for two full days of work. You've been here two hours." The worker said, "ok, I'll take $700" with such swiftness I knew that I was still being ripped off but just was tired of this kind of stuff repeatedly happening...overcharging. I wanted them out of my house before I burst a blood vessel. Two guys at work actually laughed at me when I told them what I got charged, but I don't see them offering to help, so basically it's always this constant battle. By the way, the washer again went out....so it wasn't an issue with the breaker. Through a series of trial and error the problem was fixed without any cost from anyone else. I fixed it myself and will again continue my search for reputable contractors.

My company is based out of another industrious in chicago, so I simply register for an open space online through the member portal before I come to this location (much closer to home). This location is substantially smaller than the others downtown, but it's never been crowded when I'm here. Minus 1/2 star because the phone booths (by the bathroom) are not very well insulated, but they did recently install two new recording-booth looking modular phone booths across the outdoor bridge. If you've never been to an Industrious, it's a co-working space where your organization can secure an office space, rent conference rooms, and/or utilize any open spaces (for free) in any industrious (nation-wide). Can't rattle off their rates off the top of my head, but I'd recommend checking out their website. I've loved having access to their spaces as a mostly remote employee for a small-medium sized nonprofit.

Local Industrious team is good (Jules is the best), location is amazing (only good spot in Wicker…read morePark), and the office is always in decent shape. Amenities feel like they have trailed off a bit over the past year, and those without dedicated offices will experience some minor issues (limited number of call booths, call booth lights turn off randomly without a couple of minutes of steady (read: exaggerated) movement). The real issue for me, however, is the sales team. They are unhelpful and rigid, and take a short sighted view towards customer relations. I had an unexpected change in location circumstances 3 weeks before my 12 month lease was set to go into effect. Because Industrious' sales team has a 60 day notice requirement, they required me to pay the entirety of the 12 month lease in full. No negotiated solution was offered - they were not willing to convert me to month-to-month, would not entertain my early release offers, and didn't even suggest a like for like exchange of leases in a new location. So, as a customer, beware that if you have any changed circumstance (even one where you can provide essentially full, 12 months of notice), Industrious will seek to extract full value from you. Passing along as this would have changed my calculus when determining whether to enter into a month to month (at an extremely high premium) or longer duration at the beginning.

It was the best deal out of all the different co-working places. Miguel was very accommodating, loved the idea of having an IT person on site, and was able to set up a space suitable for my type of business. The best part is that I'm saving so much money running my business from here verses renting an office alone and adding up the cost of Internet, Office supplies, furniture, etc. Co-Lab is in a vibrant area with lots of businesses nearby. I've been able to expand my clientele just by being in this location and still maintain my existing clients.
