I love this studio! I started ballet classes as an adult beginner when my kids were taking classes. Elena is a fantastic teacher and genuinely cares about each of her students. The small class sizes mean personal attention and getting to know fellow students. The environment is supportive while also enourgaging you to challenge yourself. Taking classes twice a week has kept me in shape and I've progressed past where I had ever imagined starting as an adult with no previous ballet training. There are performances twice a year for those who would like to participate and always a lot of fun and gives students a goal to work towards and to demonstrate what they've learned. Pointe by Pointe has been my primary studio for the last 4 years.. I take the adult ballet classes from Elena. She is also the studio owner. I'm always inspired by her strength on the dance floor. She has three children, and she looks fantastic! The studio also offers a wide variety of classes (tap, hip hop, salsa, belly dancing). The classes are designed for all levels of skill. Just wear comfortable exercise clothes and the proper dance shoes. Of course, if you need a rehearsal space or private instruction Pointe by Pointe accommodates that, too. The studio has one large dance floor, and there is a bathroom next to a small playroom for children in the back. It's a unique place to dance, because everyone at the studio is so personable. This is not the right place for you if you have a child 5 years old or older. It may be great for the pre-school bunch, but for kids really wanting to get started with ballet, it isn't the place. Elena does not teach the basics that are needed to be a real ballet dancer. She does not take the time to do a real ballet stretch which is necessary to prevent injury. She does not take the time to teach a proper ballet bar, which is the basis for all dance. It is not possible to teach both ballet and tap in only 1 hour, once a week. At this point (after pre-school) you have to split these classes to be able and address things like posture, arms, hands, hip placement (and turn out). Allie is slightly better on Wed. She does do a better job at stretching her students before going on, but she moves too quickly away from the bar to the center. She too needs to take more time with bar work, teaching proper feet positions. In ballet, it is very important to have your hips, thighs, knees, and shins line up with your ankles and feet. This is the only way to prevent injury. Allie does do a better job at this than Elena. read more

I hired Elena to teach kids and adults a Latin dance at my daughter's birthday party and everyone had a blast.She is very energetic, upbeat and enjoys what she is doing. My party was a great success thanks to Elena. She was on time, brought her own professional music equipment, did a very quick set up for a class and encouraged everyone to participate. I've been taking Adult Ballet & Cardio Ballet/Conditioning for the past year with Elena and it's always been the highlight of my week when I'm not running around going from school to work to other events that keep my life very busy. I am so glad I found this studio that is close to home and at such a great price! She is rigorous with her workouts and routines, but at the same time, really understanding that we're all at different levels in dancing. She takes the time to give each student critique on our technique so we learn it the correct way. I've only had some prior dance experience through my Chinese cultural dance club from college, so picking up ballet as a hobby was a great transition for me. Sometimes the classes range from 1 to 4 students, so it's very intimate, which is the type of attention you want when you're learning a new style of dance. Elena is hands down the best dance teacher that I've had, and I look forward to being part of and watching her amazing Spring and Christmas productions she puts on every year. read more

Don't even bother! The lady who runs this place is too busy caring about her own salsa workout to take any business. My daughter was supposed to be in a hip hop class (which, by the way... no other children were there when the "class" was supposed to start), and we waited for 10 minutes after the time the class was supposed to start. The hip hop class that was going on beforehand, the instructor was just fine with continuing and the lady who runs the place didn't stop and say "no" because she has customers who want services. She was in the salsa class, caring too much about her own workout. I walked out! If I could give it 0 stars, I would. Bad way to run your business! read more

Elena is an excellent instructor and I can tell that I am getting stronger since starting her class. She also gave me simple exercises to do at home. This dance studio is a hidden gem. I've been coming to take the Salsa Hip Hop class on Saturday mornings and have gotten the best Latin dance workout that is available out there! I've been a dancer all of my life and am generally always looking for a great workout and a great dance class - and I've found both in one! The dance studio is located near my area so that's how I stumbled upon it, but unlike most L.A dance studios, this atmosphere is very family oriented and welcoming to all types of people and dancers from all walks of life. The owner is super supportive and available to all her students and staff and is always trying to help promote. I've never seen her cross or overwhelmed, even when I've witnessed her interaction with a sour customer who didn't understand that classes sometimes start late. As a side note - from an experienced dancer - take this as generally normal to experience from time to time. If the class ahead of the class you're about to take is running late, generally your class will also run late, as what had happened in this case. We were getting such a great workout and since we were not able to start on time, the instructor couldn't let us go without giving us our full hour workout and cool down that we had paid for. This was courteous of her ... and it was so much fun! Overall, this is a great place and I highly recommend the Salsa Hip Hop class! read more

This is a great little neighborhood studio. Ms. Elena is a dedicated teacher that expects a lot out of her little dancers and because of that, the students make lots of progress. They work hard and have fun too. Every ballet/tap class has a ballet barre, center floor work and then tap dance with drills and routines. Ms. Elena is always changing it up, so the kids never get bored. She uses fun music and the kids are allowed to wear whatever cute dance outfit they want (many studios don't let the kids do that.) Also, I like that I can watch class - many studios kick the parents out. The classes are so affordable and it's easy to park and find this studio. We highly recommend it and my daughter has been taking classes here for over 3 years and loves it. We say - give it a try! How dare "Sarah F." give a bad review without even trying a class! If you search thru the filtered GOOD reviews of this studio you will find that every single one is positive. One negative person in a sea of positivity. This is an intimate, friendly studio. I highly recommend the salsa hip hop class on Saturday afternoon and Monday evening. "Cuba" is a bright, energetic teacher and makes everyone comfortable - all ages, all abilities. You don't need a partner because the class is all "open" work following the instructor as she moves through the steps. Halfway through the class, she introduces terrific choreography and breaks it down step by step and builds week by week. Friendly atmosphere, too. I can't get enough! read more

My 4 kids have done conditioning classes with Ms. Elena this summer. It was Excellent! They are divers and gymnasts. She helped them focus on proper form, and gave them alternatives when they were still building their strength. The classes have helped them become more flexible and stronger with their handstands. I can't begin to express how Kira has changed our family's life for the better. We have attended her parenting class for over a year, and the parenting lessons we have learned will be the foundation of our parenting style for the rest of our lives. Kira is compassionate, understanding, and has a wealth of knowledge and experience. She models a respectful and curious parenting approach that we can observe and apply later in similar situations. She's incredibly receptive to any and all questions and is never judgmental (not my experience with all so-called "RIE" professionals). Kira has helped us with tantrums, peer-to-peer conflicts, sleep issues, and just about anything else you can imagine from a 1-3 year old. My relationship with my partner is stronger because we are more aligned with our parenting approach (he attends her class as well), and my relationship with my child is stronger because of the mutual respect and understanding that was fostered in Kira's class. While there is something for everyone, regardless of experience or age, I personally recommend the Cardio Ballet class. My daughter has been going to this studio for the past 7 years. She started taking ballet and tap here when she was 5 years old. Ms. Elena was a little on the strict side but my daughter loved going to her classes. Ms. Elena is a wonderful, nurturing person as well as an excellent choreographer. I don't know how she comes up with original routines year after year. After the first few years, my daughter also started taking hip hop from her. It was a change of pace and a lot of fun!!! During the last few years, a talented hip hop teacher named Armen began teaching my daughter's hip hop class. He was the reason my son decided to take the class as well. It's a great class for teenagers. Armen teaches ballroom dancing as well. I love the fact that Ms. Elena takes both hip hop and ballroom from Armen. It's wonderful that both Armen and Ms. Elena dance with the hip hop class during performances...it really balances out the group. This studio is very family oriented. All age groups are welcome here, including mom's who have just given birth. Sometimes the babies sleep in their carrier in the same room during class. Ms. Elena has three boys that are often at the studio as well. Two of her sons even take classes with the younger groups. The studio is very warm and friendly. I highly recommend it to anyone who has ever wanted to dance and maybe never had the chance to. It is as I stated before...for all age groups and all experience levels. read more

The saturday class for the Salsa Cardio class is crazy intense. I am really loving this class. The teacher is friendly and patient and is very attentive to her students various work out levels. I love how if someone is not getting a specific step she will break down the move step by step mid-routine and then pick up the routine right where she left off.
