Their hours are terrible. The 7am Fridays would be great if we lived closer but we'd have to leave even earlier to get through traffic and then there's no guarantee we'd be finished in an hour to get to school on time. 2pm closure on Fridays is crazy. And they close at 3pm on Tuesdays and 5pm on the other days. They are always booked solid so good luck if your child gets sick.

When I arrived, I was surprised to learn they had no intention of addressing the filling that day--even though I had explained the situation when I booked. At no point did anyone clearly communicate that I wouldn't receive treatment during that visit. This lack of transparency caused me to lose valuable time in addressing a potentially serious dental issue. If they had simply told me upfront that the first appointment would be limited to an exam and not include any treatment, I would have gone elsewhere or made other arrangements sooner. Patients deserve honesty--especially when dealing with urgent dental needs.

I had a crown fall off a molar yesterday afternoon and called my normal dentist. Unfortunately they had no appointments until sometime in January. Richmond Dental takes the same insurance and has walk-ins available so I gave them a call. The receptionist was pleasant on the phone and said to come in when they opened and someone would be able to take a look at my tooth. When I arrived there was a decent sized gated parking lot. Wasn't paved. But, it was packed gravel so it'd be fine even in wet weather. I was a little early. But, they unlocked the front door promptly at 8:30a, and the receptionist saw me immediately. She had a pleasant attitude and listened to me as I explained my situation. People who already had appointments were seen before me. But, I probably got to a dental chair within 30-45 minutes. The room reminded me of some of the dental offices I'd visited in the 1990s. But, the equipment is up-to-date as they use computers to have X-Rays available immediately. They're also piping in holiday music to keep the atmosphere festive. The main doctor, Dr. Shayan Bayat, saw me. He was friendly, looked at my teeth and suggested multiple crowns, which I had expected. But, took care of my immediately need of recementing the crown that had popped off. I will say that this office was like a "cattle call." By that I mean they were seeing tons of patients while I was there and the doctors bounced back and forth between rooms to use their time expeditiously, and I really didn't have to wait too long while the pain killer injections took hold. Took maybe 15 minutes, give or take, to finish what needed to be done, and I was on my way two hours after I first arrived. Honestly, not bad for a walk-in to a place I'd never been to before; and I was happy just to be seen. I will say that when I was leaving the waiting room was pretty full so can only imagine that had I came a little later I might still be waiting there right now. Perhaps some of the bad reviews were later in the day after staff had been through a stressful day. I don't know. But, that's why I try and go in first thing in the AM whenever possible. All in all, I'd recommend their office if you had a problem like mine. Haven't had more intricate work done there. But, may be in the future.
