If you are seeking great quality, local art of watercolor and paintings of places and locations in…read morenot only specific to San Francisco, but the SUNSET district and surrounding (aka West Portal, Parkside, Ocean Beach, Golden Gate Park) - THIS is your place. I'm so HAPPY to have found a local art gallery, in which the artist, Andy Forrest, is in the store himself, selling the art at your fingertips.
His art SCREAMS local!!!! I recently did a haul here for Christmas presents, and so happy I did. I got an original of his of the Noriega & 19th Avenue corner liquor store - the shop that someone won a lotto ticket years back. This was a great gift for my mom, who lives in walking distance. I got another original painting of the Golden Gate Heights neighborhood, overlooking Ocean Beach - another great gift! For myself, I snagged a 15th and Taraval L - Taraval Muni streetcar roaming up the street. He even mentioned that he does personal commission paintings, and showed me a painting of a customer's house he was working on!!! Lastly, he did free home delivery for the bundle of art I bought from him!!!
Andy has a myriad of sizes, prints, and originals. The price ranges are quite reasonable for such quality work, ranging from $30-300. I also like his style of watercolors - warm, soft colors, that are soothing to look at. The places, and locations he choses are quite a special, unique collection of artwork that only a local would pick up on.
Andy himself is such a fun guy. He reminds me of my mom and dad, Boomers stuck in an era of San Francisco that is a completely different generation. He came to SF during Woodstock, stayed and worked as a structural engineer for several years, now recently retired a few years ago during the pandemic, and started to really develop his hobby of painting and watercolors, and making a shop out of it. He is quite personable, and could remember my last name, a week after I bought from his shop.
Anyway, can't wait to return to his gallery, to see what's coming up next!!!
