Today, July 1st. The expander is scheduled to be removed hopefully by December.

Where do I begin. My daughter and I started coming here after leaving my last dentist who I felt was pretty pricey. We absolutely love Dr. Poindexter and his staff. I teach across town and them being open until 7 is a plus. We usually set our appointments for 5pm. My daughter is going through orthopedic work spaced out for four years and we are coming to the end of Phase 1. She has an underbite that is structural, meaning her entire bottom jaw is not aligned properly. She has the bite of a 5 year old and is about to be 9. Before we began the process in December, Dr. Poindexter explained to me her pallet expander, the weekly turning I would need to do of the screws, how he wanted to start on her early before her bones set. Her cousin had to have his jaw broken and reset when he was in the military to fix the same issue. I did not want that for her. She is currently 8. Well, it is going extremely well and we could not be any happier with the services. I was expecting to pay a large amount. I'm actually almost done paying for it even though they broke it down to $27/month. Fast forward to yesterday, June 30th, he was actually closed for the 4th of July weekend. Dr. Poindexter was there doing paperwork. Her pallet expander came slightly loose (the part that had to be glued to the top of her mouth). She was very uncomfortable. I called at like 11:30 he told us to come in even though he was closed for the day, and would be taking a little vacation. He worked on her for about 30 minutes detaching and reattaching her expander. He added plastic caps to her back teeth to allow her top teeth to move forward without any interruptions. I'm so glad he was able to get her in. I would not have gotten any rest, I know this would have been a weekend of complaining. Phase 1 may end in a few months, her jaw is moving nicely :-)

The dentist proceeded with the three root canals (one of which involved my chip tooth), which were painless.

Highly unprofessional and Horrible care…read more I have been taking my son to this dentist for the past 2 years and I today I simply had enough. Every visit consist of waiting for 45 -60 minutes in the waiting room followed by another 45 minutes in the exam room. I understand some days you can fall behind but this is on every visit. If you happen to ask the office staff they simply tell you there is no way to know when you will be seen. The dentists always give rushed exams and hardly interact with parents or patients. The cleanings are also rushed with the staff giving nothing more then a light brushing. I saw my insurance got charged for a fluoride treatment last time, but unless there is a way to do this without touching the teeth I'm pretty sure that never happened. On one particular visit I called the office 3 times to make sure my new insurance information was on file. When it came time to pay the bill, I was told my insurance was no longer valid and had to pay cash. They no record of my new insurance even though I had called 3 times and gave them my card when I checked in. There really is a lack of respect for patients overall. Parents have to take time off work and kids have to take time away from school to go to the dentist. A dental check-up should NOT take 4-6 hours.

When having my second implant done, Dr Kim incorrectly inserted my IV causing pain all down my arm and keeping me from going to sleep. When I tried to alert him to this he told me to "shut up" or I would "ruin his good work." leaving me awake and in pain for the remainder of the procedure. The only saving grace was the nurse who put the gas mask on me every chance she got, leading to me telling myself I was just a car at the mechanic so the drilling into my face was standard procedure. I am still traumatised by this experience, leaving me shaking and crying for even the most basic dental cleanings. I have sat on this review of his horrible bedside manor wanting to believe he had at least been successful with a difficult case of an implant but now that I am having to spend time, money, and revisit trauma to have it removed it is more clear than ever Dr Kim cares more about his ego than his patients. DO. NOT. RECOMMEND.
