My 2016 VW Beetle had an airbag recall. Scary...It would just go off by itself. I assume it was kind of important in the safety world but it appears my concern went on deaf ears. I made 5 attempts to secure an appointment without one call back. I called 3 times. I was assured the "recall specialist" would call me back. I went on their website and emailed. No response. I chatted with a bot who assured me that someone would call me back. That was over 2 months ago. Not one call. I did not purchase the car at this dealership. It was purchased in PA where I lived prior to moving permanently to southern Delaware. I contacted Winner VW in Dover. They answered the phone. I secured the appointment. I returned my leased Audi here, because this was the closest location to my home. It was only about 45 minutes from my home. The nearest Audi dealership on the other hand is 2 hours away from my home. The VW dealership opened at 9am. When I checked in on Yelp I received a $200 off coupon for a new or certified pre-owned VW per my pic. I was not hear to purchase or lease a new vehicle. I just wanted to return my leased Audi. When I arrived around 9:10am a female representative immediately approached me to offer her service. It only took her about 15 minutes to process my leased return and remove my license plates from my car. I was very pleased with her service. I took my car in to get it repaired on sunday and they said its an easy fix and that they had the part, gave me an estimate, and said it'd be done the next day. I then receive a phone call the next morning thinking my car was finished, but they then call me and say that the actual cost is double the original estimate and they have to order the part since they had the wrong one and not the right one. Very poor experience and I can promise you that I will never bring my car back to that establishment ever again. Do better! read more

I am having difficulty deciding whether they deserve 1 star or 2. I brought my car in for service. A simple oil change, tire rotation and a steel plate that is supposed to protect the underside of the car but another dealer took it off and never put it back (they are no longer in business so I had to pay to have it replaced). When I got to the dealership the Service Advisor met me out side when over the issues and I handed him both my car key and the wheel lock key (which again due to another dealer I had to have the car towed in and pay for a new wheel lock key, so I am very conscious of that key). It took about 2.5 hours and they let me know that they did not have the steel plate in stock but could have it tomorrow. They gave me a price for the plate and I asked about installation. I agreed to the price and was told there was no cost for the installation. When I left I got about 2 miles away and could not find my wheel lock key, he said it is in the cup holder or the glove box. I told Jim I was driving but it is not in the cup holder and I can't look in the glove box. He assured me it would be there but would check with the mechanic. I got a call a few minutes later that the me mechanic did not return it bit the Service Advisor had it and I could get it back when I returned. I returned in 2 days to have the plate put on and when I got the bill there was a labor charge. I brought it up and reminded him of our conversation. He said that was only for that day because they would have had to remove it for the oil change. I said that he never told me that. He had no comment. Then I said that it isn't my fault the part was not in stock and I shouldn't have to pay. Again no comment. My last point of the estimate he gave me when he ordered the part and it showed nothing for installation received the comment is that was for that day only. Will I go back for service. NOT A CHANCE. We are getting ready to buy a new Atlas SEL and we will not be buying it there either. They are not a company that honors what they say and I would recommend avoiding them. I own two VW's, I bought one of them from Pohanka and I take both of them to Pohanka for service. I've recommended this dealer to my other VW friends, hands down the best VW dealer and service in our area. The sales process was smooth and professional, everyone was polite and I didn't have a high pressure sale situation and no one treated me like I was an idiot. These are my pet peeves that seem to make car buying miserable at most places. Pohanka pricing was fair and the process was painless. The service department has been outstanding to work with over the years. They make sure every concern is addressed, and they don't argue with me when I ask for things to be done a specific way, unlike some other VW dealers in our area. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ! I started working with Pohanka VW, after I was disappointed by Winner VW in Dover. I serviced my cars there for over two years regularly, but I stopped because none of their work on my car has been reported to Carfax. So I decided to do my 140.000 miles maintenance at Pohanka of Salisbury. They did a good job, price was ok, service showed on my Carfax, but after I got home and I washed the car (because they never wash it for you), I realized that there is a huge scratch on my left front fender, from their tools or some negligence of an incompetent mechanic. I called and asked to speak with a Manager, so John took care of me. We made an appointment, he looked at the car and realized that the scratch is too deep and they offered to repaint the fender at their own cost, and offered me a loaner for the repair time. After 5-6 days, I got my car back, but in horrible condition. Not only that the color of the fender was different (darker than the rest of the car), but they did such a shitty job, that the paint was already peeling on the bottom corner next to the bumper. Also the paint job had a lot of "orange skin pattern". This undesirable effect describes an uneven paint surface due to paint droplets drying before they flow evenly. The paint looks like the skin of an orange, and feels rough and "bumpy" to the touch. This was unacceptable, so I called John again, he apologized for his incompetent staff and he offered to repaint it again, asking someone else to do it this time. They had the car for over a week and when it came out, I'm still not satisfied with their job, but I just dropped it and considered it done. I kept going back for services, because John was really nice and he took care of me. After couple months, I went back to get an oil service and they said I need tire rotation and two new tires cuz the ones I had were really low. I said sure, no problem but I specifically asked them to match the same brand of tires (Bridgestone Potenza). I realized after I got home that they put "Iron Man" tires on my car . After this mistake I decided to stop work with Pohanka. Their lack of professionalism and communication makes everything so hard and so complicated. They didn't had the tires on stock so they had to order them. The parts department was never informed that the order of two Potenza tires was for me, so they said anyone can come in and get the tires because they were not reserved. And many other things. Shame on them, cuz they pretend to be the best on the market, but they are lacking! Disappointed and I would never recommend this dealership service to anyone! read more

I brought my fathers older rundown beetle in for servicing. Faith (the person) met me outside, and made checking in fast and easy. I asked how much it would be for A diagnostic test for several issues. From that moment on it became very clear the type of person Faith is. She listened to me, gave me the best information, but did not make me feel pressured to do anything. Faith was so good about communicating with me throughout this process, and spent time going over every single issue ( there were a lot ). Not once did she make me feel anything but heard, and I could tell that she really cared about my and my father's health and safety. Faith was very knowledgeable, and offered real solutions to my problems. She is an asset to any organization that she is a part of, and I very much enjoyed working with her. She is the ideal combination of professionalism and compassion. Now as far as the service to the vehicle, the diagnostic was worth every penny! the complete list of issues let me know that even though the car is not much to look at (or be in really) the service people left no bolt unturned, and if anything, some a bit tighter than before. The large service bay is so nice, and allows for multiple cars to be checked in/out with enough room for other cars to drive through the service area. It's a great use of space for a dealership that has such a small area when compared to the other dealers in the area. This was by far the best service experience I've ever had when getting car maintenance. I felt like a person, and not just a cog in the machine. I thank Faith and the rest of the Pohanka Family for getting the whole customer experience so right! 11/10 read more

I generally do not go online and provide reviews but I felt the need to share my experience at Pohanka VW service department. In December 2021 while visiting Maryland we took our Volkswagen Tiguan in for oil change, tire rotation and advised Gabe the service writer the vehicle was consuming/burning oil at a rate of 2 Q's every few weeks. The Technician advised we needed a new engine because the engine had an internal seal/gasket leak allowing oil to be burned internal although no evidence of oil found leaking on the ground. We were getting ready to return home to Florida after the holidays and did not want to have an engine failure while driving so we took their advise and approved engine replacement at $10k and purchased a Powertrain extended service contract for peace of mind. Shortly after arriving in Florida the check engine light came on! I took the vehicle in to our local Volkswagen dealer to determine what was going on. The Technician advised the vehicle needs a new turbo. I could not understand how the turbo could fail as soon as a new engine is installed unless the Turbo was actually the reason for original concern "burning oil"? Did the Technician at Pohanka VW mis-diagnosed the root cause of the oil consumption? I believe so, because the Technician never did a tear down to determine cause! I thought to myself well I have a powertrain service contract so the turbo would be covered minus my deductible. Well Easycare the service contract provided does not cover a turbo as part of their Powertrain contract it is a high tech item. I have called Pohanka VW and tried speaking with Gabe and left voicemail messages for John the Servicer Manager but no one has reached out to me or returned my calls!! I feel taken advantage of by Pohanka VW from the Service Department and Caroline in the Finance Department for selling me a contract that doesn't cover a powertrain component such a Turbo that is part of the engine. I recommend you avoid this Dealership!!! read more

There are several nice people that work there, but man are there issues with this place on the service side. Wrong parts, long waits(2 hours) to be told they don't have the part. Went back when part came in, to find out that part didn't fix the problem. Ordered another part that worked, but tried to charge me another labor fee when they screwed up. They did eventually way the fee after I told them I wasn't paying for there mistake. Calling in I was transferred 3 times to the wrong person. I had to use these guys for the recalls, but whew they got got serious work to do. read more

Very disappointed. Saw the Fourth of July (2021) advertisement offering 0% interest for 60 months. Called the dealership and was told this is correct. Excited, my wife and I went and test drove a Tiguan. Sat down to buy the car. The numbers were done and then we were told the 0% interest for 60 months was no longer available. The advertisement was wrong and should have been changed. As of this review - it's still advertised as 0% interest for 60 months. Too bad for Pohanka VW - they lost a customer but they probably do not care since their comment was that a lot of people will be disappointed when they come in for the 0%. I had to have front right drive axle replaced.was told my warranty was covering all but $100.they had parts drop off anytime.so I dud the next day.then I didn't hear from them all day.I call at 4 n was put on hold for 15 minutes,just seeing if it's ready.I get called back at 430 n told my car will be ready by 5- 515 but the warranty decided now they are only paying $59 and I have to pay $395 to get my car.used way was left on my credit card n my house payment .they had no right nor did the warranty company suddenly back out from Wed night to Thurs morning.they are liars,cheats and rip offs.I give 0 * only because there no less.they should be ashamed n I will not stop until I get my money back.I wouldn't have taken it there for that price. read more

I gave up after attempting to buy a car here. I waited hours for them to price my used car and they undervalued it by thousands then changed the price on a used car I had viewed online. I was also attempting to buy a new Jetta for my son and they said they would price match other dealers but ... I have USAA buying service and they overcharge by nearly $4000 over dealer located just over an hour away, I'll drive an hour for $4000. I wouldn't recommend anyone buy here, too many games, Fair prices are available online, do your research and it will quickly become obvious this dealer isn't playing straight. Prices are widely published use a reputable buying service, don't listen to word these salespeople say. They said they could transfer my VW from service to their lot while we negotiated, even confirmed this in an email 24 hours in advance--even that didn't happen. They ignore a Carfax alert fix but promise you they will- do not trust them- do not take their word for it.
