So fresh and warm and my favorite are the original was my favorite nothing more is needed. Loved having the made fresh in front of us!! Be prepared for the line and it's worth it !

Heaven! Absolute heaven! These are little puffy clouds of goodness. Poffertjes are different than pancakes. They are much lighter and fluffier than pancakes with so much buttery goodness. They even come with a little pat of butter to dip into. The couple serving up these was so sweet. They make them fresh, right in front of you. While you can get them with different toppings, I thought they were perfect plain.

One of our favorite spots along the entire Albert Cuyp Road. The guy making the mini pancakes was friendly, and very chatty. Everything looks so good, but we just got an original one, because he said that was his favorite. Came with butter and powdered sugar. Clearly not there to upsell us, which was nice. Cute little bench to sit and eat. The family fought over the small plate of 10 pancakes. We will be back!

    Super lekker poffertjes

This in the ALbert Cuyp market, which is a bit overwhelming at first, but you won't miss this little desert wagon when wondering by. The pastries are excellent and very tasty! There are no long lines most of the time, maybe on weekends. Super delicious and Dutch treats. Buy one of everything...there are no calories when on vacation!

Look. This place is almost cult like in the number of friends that have raved about this place. I'm going to leave this short. You must visit this food stand. Located on a street filled with food vendors near the Heineken factory, expect the best poffertjes on a paper plate you'll ever eat in your life.

    Just sugar and butter!

I can't believe I almost forgot to write a review about this place. Another recounting from my time in Berlin in March 2023. On my multiple sojourns to Albert Cuyp, I walked by this stand not even realizing what I was missing out on, but after seeing folks walking around with cute little pancakes, I decided to go investigate. To be honest, the person manning the griddles was a little intimidating, so I was kind of scared lol, but the poffertjes looked so good that I couldn't resist trying. When I ordered, the let's call him "griddle man" kept it very brisk and got to work. I got regular poffertjes with powdered sugar and butter. Once they were done, he handed them to me with what seemed like a knowing gleam in his eye and asked if I wanted any more sugar, butter, or napkins. Again, I was kind of nervous so I said no and quickly took my order to the side to sit on a little bench and have a taste. Not to mention there was already a generous portion of butter and powdered sugar on the plate already. That first bite, wow, pillowy soft, buttery, and sweet. It was like biting into a small piece of heaven. I was actually astonished by how good it was. The griddle man looked and me and asked "Good?" now with a smile. I exclaimed "Yes!! So good!" I was thinking I might save some for my husband, but I ate all of them right there on that bench with no regrets, and in the rain no less! I can confidently say those were the best form of pancake I have ever had. And for the price, it was a great deal.

Food stand at the market serving the little dutch pancakes called Poffertjes. You can watch him make batches it's very fast. Plenty of options for toppings and a fun thing to try for anyone.

I would say that these are the best poffertjes in Amsterdam but I really don't know as these were the only poffertjes that I had in Amsterdam. But I will tell you that they are DELICIOUS. They're mini-pancakes. Round, perhaps 1.5 inches across, fluffy. Served up fresh off the griddle and with toppings that include caramel, strawberries, marshmallows, honey, Grand Marnier, nutella or just plain (i.e., powdered sugar and butter). Eat with a wooden fork as you tour the rest of the market. Enjoy! [Review 12085 overall, 1868 of 2019.]

I love poffertjes! I came here to get some, and although I had to wait quite a while for them, they were worth it. I got it without powdered sugar and butter, but I did get it with Nutella. They were hot and chewy, and I really enjoyed them. Definitely recommend!

One of my coworkers reccomend to get pofferties at the Albert Cuyp market. This was delicious and not too sweet. Everything is freshly made right then and there. They have a lot of different options for topping as well.

Frens Haringhandel was my favorite stop for food on a recent trip to Amsterdam. On my first visit I…read moretried the Herring Sandwich. Soft bread was filled with soft tender fresh herring (which had no fishiness in its flavor), crisp onions and tangy pickles. I understand why this is a popular street food. On my second visit I had the Fried Cod. Meaty and flakey nuggets of Cod were coated in a perfectly crisp breading with a nice saltiness and flavorful spices. The side of tartar sauce was heavenly creamy, sweet and tangy. Frens Haringhandel is a must visit.

This place is ALL OVER social media, but is it worth the hype? Absolutely…read more We stopped here in October 2025, after an already filling late lunch. But we knew we had to try it, and life is short. It is a tiny stand located along a central canal in the heart of the city. Business is hopping here. We got the picked herring and kibbeling, which are the main staples here. The pickled herring was, well, something you either love or don't. It has somewhat of a gelatinous texture that can be off-putting, but when you take a bite with the sides of sweet pickles and onions, it shines. The Kibbeling was out of this world. Perfectly fried with a crunchy batter that had a hint of, hmmm, curry, maybe. It was amazing. Although the batter was thick and tasty, it didn't outdo the delicious cod. The staff here was friendly, and having this Dutch food along a canal in Amsterdam made for a memorable experience. There are plenty of places to sit near the stand - enjoy this tasty food and watch the world go by.
