I don't know why this place gets so many stars. Perhaps they're nicer to locals? We wanted to check out the local food scene where we were staying in the Oberkampf neighborhood. We found this place on Yelp and figured we would try. The staff here were not friendly, like at all. The woman that sat us barely cracked a smile and the gentleman that took our order refused to help at all with English and had no patience with my attempt at French. I found their annoyance with us odd, as American hip-hop blasted throughout the restaurant. Like I said perhaps this is a place for locals and tourists are not welcome. I get it. Ate here withy family, and we all loved it. Highly recommend the Loaded Fries. We ordered the burgers well done because we were worried about them being too pink, but medium would have been better. Warning their secret sauce is mustard-based (which my daughter didn't like too much) but the rest of us liked it. Service was fast and very friendly. Ok, so, during a recent 10-country jaunt through Europe, I ate a ton of burgers. Like, an embarrassingly-high number of burgers that would definitely classify me as your typical American buffoon tourist. I mean, who the heck eats a hamburger every other day when they're traveling through countries that offer some of the world's most wonderful cuisines? The silver lining of this, however, is that this makes me the de facto expert on European hamburgers right? Therefore, I can confidently say that PNY provided me the best-tasting burger during my three-month foray into eating your continent's fine offering of hamburgers. I think that must be attributed to the quality of the beef this restaurant sources. Do their cows have a glass of Burgandy wine each night before bed? Maybe the cows eat baguettes with roquefort and jambon each morning for breakfast. I'll never know, but I do know the burgers here are pretty damn tasty. read more

Well, we were recommended PNY by other American we met. But were severely disappointed. We understand that Paris is not as aggressive about turning tables the way that America is, but it took them more than 5 minutes to give us a menu. Then it took almost half an hour to get our order in, the people who's menus we were given were almost done with their meal when we finally ordered. Ordering actually only happened because my girlfriend went up to them and told the person at the bar we hadn't been served, even though the cashier was 3ft away from us The waiter did not messed up our order, not completely his fault we both had language issues. He brought us the smaller size beer than we ordered,but did make it right which is why they get 2 stars not 1. The loaded fries were very good. The burger was good, not great. My husband and I had a great lunch here today! I really love the vibe of this place. We are total foodies and love a good juicy burger. They have a prix-fixe meal for €15 that includes a sandwich, fries or salad and a beverage. I had the burger with blue cheese, bacon and grilled onions, he had the fish sandwich. My burger was cooked exactly as I ordered it and was delicious. The service was friendly and fast. The wine was great, my husband liked his beer and I enjoyed the lemonade which is really lemony and not to sweet. Americans: Please note... You can't judge the service of a restaurant in France based on how things work at home. The culture is different here and what you may perceive as rude or indifferent is not the case at all. Slow down and acclimate! Different isn't bad... It's just different. It may not be the restaurant that needs to change... It may be your expectations. I keep seeing reviews from US based travelers bashing French establishments when really, it's the travelers who haven't taken the time to get to know the culture and understand how things work here. It's frustrating and makes us all look bad! This comes from the perspective of a total foodie who eats out 4-5x/week, knows great food and cooks great food. I love burgers. My go to meal: burger. This place? An overly priced burger joint that is filthy with oily and burnt mediocre burgers. I saw a cockroach crawl across the floor before my food came out. How appetizing. The dark atmosphere combined with the dirty utensils and critters ruined any appetite I had. I ordered my burger patty pink, and it came out burnt lifeless topped with grease. I shared the bacon fries which were also nostalgically oily with no flavor. Only pro. Service was nice, but slow like all French restaurants If you're craving burgers, go to McDonalds instead. I had The Return of the Cowboy Burger (boeuf Le Ponclet, cheddar affiné 9 mois, poitrine fumée, confit, beignet d'oignon, sauce BBQ), and as a burger lover I can say it was definitely a 5 star burger. I will be returning to PNY, and this is a fact! The meat was cooked medium, just the way I like it, and all the flavors combined so perfectly. My boyfriend took The Crispy (filet de poulet fermier, panure croustillante, cheddar 9 mois, poitrine fumée, sauce PNY), and it was just as good as the burger. I was extra hungry that night and treated myself not only to PNY loaded fries, but also a vanilla shake. The fries were probably the best loaded fries (frites allumettes maison, cheddar 18 mois, poitrine fumée) I have ever had, and I could say the same for the milkshake. Went there for dinner tonight. This is by far the best burger joint in Paris. Buns where perfect, patty was cooked just the way I like it and don't even get me started on how good their fries are!! One of their staff spoke English and the rest where also pretty good (seeing as we only know very basic French this was a godsend!). We will definitely be attending again before we leave. read more

Yo. Im from California, I rarely eat meat, but being that I'm in Europe I decided why not. I was craving a burger and this place was close to my airbnb so I decided what the hell. I was kinda nervous, it was a bit busy and I don't speak a lick of French. The staff was super friendly and helped me order based off of what their favorites were. I ordered for take out, sat down, enjoyed a beer and read about how dumb my president was on CNN. The burger came and I went back to the flat and went to town on this masterpiece. Im going to have a hard time adjusting back to my normal self. Thank you so so much. I wish more restaurants in America had a greater standard for ingredients like you guys. There is a reason this is on the "Top 10" Burger list in Paris. As an ex-Pat who recently moved to town, I can say that this burger joint is worth the trip from across town (15th). The selection was creative and the burgers were juicy and messy-the best kind! The staff speak English and are very friendly! They even split a burger in half for our kids and made a Shirley Temple type drink for our youngest, who was a bit sad this evening. We had one rich and creamy shake and one pint of beer (2 kinds on tap to choose from). The "old skool" rap soundtrack and communal seating completes the experience. read more

Most burger places around Paris get the fries right (including here , they were fire - crispy and you can get them with garlic mayo) but the burgers around town have been hit or miss .... not here - I got the Christmas truffle burger and my boyfriend got return of the cowboy - both were juicy and covered in extras. I had high hopes because of the hype surrounding PNY. Service was satisfactory. However it fell apart in terms of burger. My burger arrived medium to well done when I had asked for rare. The burger was dry and awful, it's like the cow died twice in their hands. The highlight of my meal was actually my IPA. I won't be returning here. read more

I heard a lot about PNY from friends, and after hearing that they have a veggie burger, decided to visit. The burger was disappointing, because all it had in between the buns were a couple of slabs of mushrooms. I don't like mushrooms, so maybe that affected judgement a bit. It's just weird that most places either use an overdose of mushrooms or goat cheese for vegetarian dining options. The ambiance at the Oberkampf PNY is good, especially the little private room at the back. So if you're a veggie and like mushrooms, do visit and let me know what you think. read more
