This latest time, they refused to loan me a sum that is less than half of what I allow them to keep in their institution. Upon trying to understand why and ultimately close my account, it took hours upon hours of phone tag and false information. Avoid this bank at all costs, they will not help you. I will advise my family members to abandon this institution as well.

BEWARE. BEWARE. BEWARE…read more Think twice before opening any account with Genisys Credit Union. I opened a high-yield savings account several weeks ago and have regretted it ever since. I deposited a large sum to qualify for a promotional CD offer--which disappeared the moment my account was opened. Then came the real headache: Genisys made it nearly impossible to access my own funds. Their website is useless, and even getting my new account number required a long wait on hold. When I finally reached someone, they refused to provide it, telling me I had to wait for a "welcome letter" via snail mail. I needed my account number NOW in order to access my funds. They forced me to jump through more hoops just to retrieve basic account info. There was no digital workaround. Even after I linked Genisys to another bank, they blocked outbound transfers--effectively trapping my money. These tactics aren't just inconvenient--they're deliberately restrictive. I've never experienced anything like this with Alliant, NASA FCU, Popular Direct, or NexBank. Genisys clearly prioritizes retention over transparency. Their policy of impeding access to my own money was time consuming and unnecessarily difficult. Customer service clearly isn't a priority. After finally closing my account and having my funds wired back, I received a phone call offering me the original CD deal that was no longer available. That's rich. I've found that Genisys actually charges higher fees than banks and their fees are also higher in frequency and they are unwilling to waive fees. Not only are they unwilling to waive them, but they are rude and condescending about it too. The tellers, as I've said are friendly and try to be helpful, but I don't think that they get much training. I've asked tellers specific questions about my account and I took their answer as being a knowledgeable response, but when I made financial decisions based on their responses, I've been charged fees because the tellers were wrong. I'm totally not impressed with either the services that they offer, their customer service skills, their training or their humanity.

From the moment I walked in, Myya K and Jean Ortiz were rude and dismissive. The interaction quickly escalated, and both employees began yelling at me instead of trying to resolve the situation professionally. Management was also unhelpful and showed little interest in addressing the issue. I ended up leaving and driving to the Clarkston location, where Leslie was extremely helpful and genuinely surprised by how I had been treated at the Pontiac location. The difference in professionalism and customer service was night and day. I have honestly never experienced treatment like this from a business before. I took photos of their name tags simply to document who I interacted with, not to photograph anyone personally, but even in the photos you can see Jean continuing to yell during the interaction.
