    Third Federal Savings & Loan

    Third Federal Savings & Loan

Third Federal Savings and Loan is a dishonest and unethical bank. My money was not safe there. On…read moreJuly 3, 2,024 Third Federal closed my checking account with $11,800 in it and gave it to Vanguard. They said there were fraudulent transactions into and out of my account. They said I had to pay for it and the "funds, as the call it" returned to Vanguard. That was my money that I deposited. Third Federal points fingers at Vanguard and Vanguard points fingers at Third Federal. When this happened, I was interrogated on the phone by Third Federal and made to feel like I was the criminal and not the victim. Neither Third Federal or Vanguard will tell what law makes it legal for them to just take my money. Recently Vanguard admitted it was a money mule scam. Third Federal and Vanguard knew I had nothing to do with it. People don't put money in a bank to lose it. On top of this Third Federal constantly runs ads in the newspaper and on T.V. about how great their bank is and how you can trust them! I think not!

Worst mortgage loan company that I have ever used in my ~40 years of owning homes and rental…read moreproperties. It has taken more than 2 months to get a HELOC. It was for a $40K line of credit on my primary home with nearly a 1/2 million in equity. Yet - it has been 75 days since I started the loan process. I still haven't received a wire transfer of funds from the closing last week. The loan officer I was assigned was never at work and I could never reach her. I called her supervisor and she said that this person had some personal problems. I asked her to transfer my loan to another worker - but that didn't happen. So - So - instead of taking ~45 days which is normal - I at 75 days and still counting. Avoid this company if you expect to receive funds in a reasonable amount of time.

First Federal of Lakewood Mortgage Lending

First Federal of Lakewood Mortgage Lending

I do my primary banking with Chase, because I really value the convenience of 24/7 online banking…read more(I do all of my bill paying and financial "stuff" in the evenings after work), and have been happy with the customer service I've gotten (i.e. instant alerts when an account is used in an unusual way/suspicious charges, etc.). However, when buying our home in Akron/Bath area (3 years ago), First Federal Lakewood was recommended as the Mortgage broker with an attractive rate. I'm all for supporting local businesses when possible. I have to say I've been frustrated on a number of occasions when attempting to complete transactions with FFL. Examples: 1) Several months into our regular mortgage payment cycle, I began getting insistent "reminder" calls from their administrator on the 3rd or 4th of the month telling me I needed to make my payment. Anyone who's ever had a mortgage payment knows it's not 'late' until the 15th of the month. This happened for several months in a row. (tho haven't gotten these calls since the 1st year, thankfully) 2) the Online payment system is antiquated - only recently was I even able to set up a recurring auto-payment. I use Mint to track (nearly) all of my finances - but it doesn't even recognize the FLL payment system so I can't include this significant account in my tracking. 3) We recently (past few months) decided to apply for a HELOC, and determined it would make sense to apply with our primary mortgage lender - FLL. Well, that might not have been a great idea. After completing the extensive application process, we had to come physically to the location to sign the "closing" documents. Got a call a few days later that there was an error in the paperwork, and we had to come back in a second time to sign them again. OK, mistakes happen. But then we got a call that there was ANOTHER error and we had to come back in a THIRD time to sign the paperwork. I just can't even. YES, we did get apologies from the FLL staff....but, we still had to physically show up and sign the same paperwork 3 times. 4) There's no "live" customer service outside regular business hours (or Saturday mornings). I already mentioned the antiquated website/payment system....I've run into issues logging in on a few occasions, but have no way to get ahold of a person when I'm trying to get my transactions completed (i.e. NOT while I'm at work) and the system isn't cooperating. I don't post reviews often. I just feel I ought to give a heads up to others considering options for Mortgage Lending, that our experience has been definitely less than optimal. The PEOPLE there are perfectly nice, but that doesn't translate to a seamless or convenient customer experience.
