This review is not only for the branch I dealt with but for KeyBank as a whole, including their customer service, protocols, and policies. KeyBank left me homeless despite having enough money to cover my expenses. A fraud investigation was initiated on my account, but my money was cleared, and nobody ever informed me what the investigation was about. They issued me a cashier's check with the remaining thousands of dollars I needed for moving. Right when I arrived at my new location, KeyBank stopped my account, rendering me unable to access my funds. I had to borrow money from others, leading to unnecessary expenses that I now have to pay back. This situation has ruined my life. I couldn't attend school, pay my car insurance, or cover my housing fees. KeyBank's incompetence and lack of accommodation have caused irreparable damage to my life. Everyone I dealt with at KeyBank, from the branch to customer service, was unhelpful and unsympathetic. Their protocols and policies are flawed, and their customer service is abysmal. Avoid KeyBank at all costs. I will still be contacting the Attorney General's office in hopes that no one will have to go through what I had to. I have a child, a husband, and pets, and I nearly had to sleep in my car with them. This review will not be the end. I'm going to try to make sure no one is ever treated like this again by this bank. Even after the investigation was done and they gave me back my money in the form of a cashier's check they still never apologized for all they did to me. Run for the hills you all. I can't keep explaining my situation in more details as it is all too unbearable to keep remembering. Just trust me run for the hills when it comes to this bank. Go to a bank that is known like Chase, Bank of America, TD bank, or Wells Fargo. Go to banks that are known. Don't take chances with this bank like I did. I never heard of Key Bank except when I signed up with unemployment and I don't know what possessed me to bank here. You live and you learn. The only branch I stepped into was the one in Devon, PA, and I can't stress enough how no cared that I would be homeless because of this investigation. Everyone always had a different excuse on why my account was blocked. I even started thinking maybe they were holding on to my money to collect interest or something. Stay away from this cursed bank.

They request a lot of information which was all supplied extremely timely (within an hour most times) they hold up the process. The loan officer is rude and inefficient. I chose this bank because they held my current jumbo Mortgage for the past 10+ years and figured this tiny mortgage was a no brainer. Now we are too far into the process to change direction with 24 hours to go. The stress and disregard for their customers is unbelievable. Run don't walk.

I opened a checking account online b/c I saw a deal where they'd give you a $200 cash bonus if you open a new account and make a couple of deposits after you open the account. So I open an account electronically by creating a check from my current bank. Everything was fine (I checked my new account online - money was in there - okay, good), until 2 weeks later I get a letter from Citizen's bank that my account had been overdrawn, and I owe $20. I also got a letter from my current bank regarding the check I wrote. I didn't understand what was wrong until I called my bank - they do not honor electronic checks. Therefore, they declined the transfer to Citizen's bank. I thought the best way to resolve this was to go to a branch, hand over a check for the same amount, and get the fee waived. I met with the bank manager, who seemed a bit confused about the situation. She has to call headquarters to see what was going on. According to her, my acct. was frozen b/c they were concerned about fraud (b/c I created an electronic check that was rejected). But I was in the bank, with a check in my hand, and they could not give me an answer. The manager said she has to speak with her regional manager to see if the account can be unlocked so it can be activated gain. She didn't ask me to pay the fee. She told me she'd call me later that day to let me know where we stand. At this point, I was still interested in keeping the account. I did not hear from her later that day, so I called the next day. I spoke with her and she still did not have an answer. She said she'd call me in the next couple of days when she hears from her regional manager. A week goes by, and nothing. I called her again a week later, but was not able to speak with her. Someone took my message and told me she'd call me back later that day. I waited, and again, nothing. I got tired of waiting after a week and called the 800 number directly, and the representative told me all I had to do is pay the $2- penalty, and my account would be fine. I explained to her what happened, and she was apologetic, yet she did not offer to take off the fee. I told her I wanted to close the account. and she expressed that they'd really like to retain me, yet she made no effort to keep me other than saying Citizen's bank would love to keep me. I was then put on the call with another manager to close my account. Again, I expressed my frustration and my experience with the local branch. She was apologetic, but she never offered to waive the fee to keep me as a customer. I guess there is really no such thing as a free lunch. Instead of making $200, I lost $20. But the money isn't what bothered me - it was the entire experience with this bank and the branch I went to. Maybe I would have had a different experiencing if I just called the 800 number first, or went to a different branch, but this was what happened, and I won't bank with Citizen's again.

Over the past two years, ESPECIALLY this year, they have this algorithm that supposedly "flags fraud" that is a NIGHTMARE. Seriously multiple times every week on purchases. Even though ive told them numerous times ive moved, and they know and can clearly see from my transaction history, it doesnt matter. In other words, this credit union is only good for people that never go anywhere or travel, because you will be dealing with bullshit and they cant do anything about it apparently because its their algorithm and not a person. So unless youre like super bored and want to deal with constant headaches- i wouldnt recommend As if that wasnt vexing enough, they didnt even catch the acual fraud that happened on my card...they told me they cant...so apparently they have a fraud monitoring algorithm that doesnt actually catch fraud...nice lol. so after i cancel my card and order a new one, im waiting for a week still no card...i call the bank...THEY NEVER PUT THE ORDER THROUGH..why? because they "thought it was sketchy" and apprently they have the right to revoke service to anyone. Which sure thats fine, but how can you legally get away with not telling someone that? Like, im literally not able to access money, to eat food, to pay my bills without my debit card... and you have no obligation to let your customer know?! Immoral, insane, outrageous - leaving this bank ASAP and telling every single person i know how awful they are.
