It is so cool inside surrounded by so many surfboards with some being like a century old! You can tell that Bird and all staff are passionate about helping surfers as well as creating relationships. My husband absolutely loves his new board and is so excited to get out there to chase waves! We were really blown away by the experience by how kind everyone was as well as how encouraging and supportive they all were. We love coming to this place to buy our boards, one for the selection, two for the knowledgeable and honest staff. Most of our boards we have sought advice and guidance from Francois and today we had the pleasure of meeting Bird (the owner)! Which honestly I didn't realize was even the owner until after we left in my husband told me lol. I really enjoy how honest and knowledgeable the staff is it really has made my husband and I feel good about picking boards. Boards are not cheap, they are definitely an investment and the right technology size, length, type all can make a huge difference. So I don't trust anywhere else to go but this place! I needed to purchase a wetsuit as I am not about to let this summer go by and not get into the "warm" San Diego waters. Water temps are about as high as it gets for out here right now, like in low 70s, so for me, thats still cold. I need at least a 4/3 wetsuit for that temp. Yes, I am a pansy and I know it. This place has a really nice section for wetsuits and also some great sales too. I made a beeline for the back of the store to check out what they had available. They have short wetsuits, 3/2s, 4/3s, some with hoods (I like those), some front zippered and some back zipped (this is my preference), children's wetsuits, men and women's also. I already knew what I needed so only had to try on two wetsuits (that was already too much lol - you are ALWAYS fighting wetsuits). Fitting rooms available here and then I went to work battling the wetsuits. I could fit the size 4 but my shoulders are a bit broader and the zipper wasn't like easy to pull, so I went with the size 6. The cost for 4/3 wetsuit here was $150, a pretty good deal. I was just at REI looking at an O'Neill 4/3 and it was over $400! I also picked up some shorts and a bikini top and everything here is severely discounted. Sweet!! Service guy working here was super nice and helpful. He showed me the size chart for wetsuits and helped me get a fitting room and rung me up. Great place to get some water apparel here and know they have wetsuits too. They also have shoes here but not too many options in sizes. They also have bags and other items too (I forgot to look at a wetsuit hood they had on sale here - so will come back). Overall. this place was great! I'll be back! But know the parking is a disaster here, the lot is super tight, just FYI.

When we walked in, there was lots of sales being advertised on a lot of the racks when we walked in. Definitely makes a big difference since the clothing products here are definitely on the pricier end. My first time shopping at this retail store and they have a great selection related to swimwear!!! I was interested in buying a wetsuit and was also informed on the differences between the 4/3 and the 5/3 millimeters of the wetsuits. A 4/3 (4mm for the torso and 3mm for the arms) is better for moderate to cold water with higher flexibility, while the 5/3 is warmer and designed for colder, winter waters, and is slightly less flexible. My goal is to be warm as I don't want to feel too cold so I went with the 5/3. There's a good amount of fitting rooms that are good sized to be trying them on. My first time trying on wetsuits and I felt like a seal LOL!!! I purchased one but keep in mind that even with the clearance sale I got it for, it was $120+. My girlfriend tried finding bikinis but there was little sizing for her and lots of the two pieces were separated and the designs weren't matching so she didn't get any.

Since I saw it was a surf store, it thought they would have some Hurley hats. I was pushing my baby daughter in her stroller so this store does have enough room to push a stroller in. I didn't find any Hurley brand hats, it was only San Diego Surf hats which makes sense this is their store. I look at some of their tshirts here as well but nothing stood out to me. This store is also next to a nice duck pond so if you're lucky, you'll see some ducks hanging out there and swimming

I originally went to Bird Surf shed to check out some boards (transitioning from longboard to…read moreshortboard) but they didn't have much of a selection and they told me to go here instead and also because they rent here so I could try before I buy essentially. They had several Torqs surfboards to rent so my boyfriend and I tried 2. You can rent up to like 3 boards same day for price of $10 per person which is a steal. Last time I tried before I buyed was like a $35 rental and although I did end up getting that board and love it, $10 is so cheap in comparison. All you need is to leave a credit card or ID for your rental, and just one per party. You also sign some paperwork and you're good to go. Recommend you come at 10am when they open so you get access to all of their boards.

I've been meaning to get around to getting it patched and fixed up as a legacy board so I could hang it as a piece to remember him by. The board had significant damage to it, they were able to re-epoxy the damages and get it said and done by end of working day for $150. Incredible turn around time and price.
