When our pipes froze during the big storm this January (thankfully, without water in them), we decided to hire Plumbums again. That didn't go as well. Quality of work: The fixes Jim suggested (a series of individual junction fixes) seemed reasonable for the repairs needed, but in some cases replacing whole sections would have been more time- and cost-efficient (according to other plumbers we've had in our home who have seen the work done). And we needed four return visits within our first three days living in the house to address issues that had not been resolved or that popped up as soon as we turned systems on. One problem (heat running constantly on our first floor, making the house over 80 degrees in the winter) was unresolved until I researched possible causes myself and communicated that to Jim, who sent out one of his guys to implement the fix. Professionalism: We were frustrated by the lack of care shown toward our property. Jim's guys left plumbing debris (not just the stuff our homeowner's insurance requested, but just straight-up trash), food trash, and drywall dust in our basement and living areas. This means that the first thing we had to do after driving 3,200 miles to move in was clean up after them. Drywall was removed roughly in several locations, and although patching was not included in the estimate, the cuts themselves appeared unnecessarily sloppy (and our new plumber neatly cuts and replaces drywall as a matter of course, leaving the mudding to us, which is fine). Plumbums did work well with our insurance company to get our claim handled, and ultimately we have working plumbing. But our experience wasn't great.

He didn't complain- (nor did he charge extra) for the distance (1-hour drive!). He was professional, courteous, and finished the job in 45 minutes. Most of all, I appreciated that he replied within 5 minutes of my request! Conveniently, he also accepts Venmo. PROMPTNESS: John texted me within 5 minutes after I submitted my request to his business page on Yelp. Fortunately, he had an opening in his schedule, and arrived 2.5 hours after we agreed to the time and rate. PROFESSIONALISM: He arrived on time, and quietly tended to the job. He was courteous and respectful throughout the process. Moreover, I appreciate the fact that it was a flat-rate (inclusive of whatever parts might be needed to connect the new unit), AND, as I later learned, irrespective of his commute time! EXCELLENT SERVICE: He drove ONE-HOUR to get to my house. I didn't realize where his business location was located until after the service was complete. Earlier when we texted and I asked if he serviced my zipcode, he said yes without hesitation. He didn't charge me extra for driving far. Also, it was a difficult task since it's an older home and a hard-wire garbage disposal unit, but he completed the job within 45 minutes. OUT PERFORMS COMPETITORS: I also want to point out that, prior to finding J Dias Plumbing's Yelp page, I had contacted (either via website "Contact Us" portal, phone call, or text) several other providers in my local area (some of them are located literally fifteen minutes away). Most of them didn't get back to me (which shouldn't have been complicated since the info I shared was thorough yet concise, and included photos of the problem). Some called my number, but, because I was working I couldn't answer the phone, and thus tried to follow up via the Yelp messaging portal. Instead of trying to guess a quote and a consultation-only date to see the unit, John didn't play any back-and-forth games and was straightforward with his rate and when he could fix it.
