I can't believe I've lived in London since like 2007 and I only found out about Thai Cafe this…read moreyear. I feel like an absolute fucking bellend tbh, spending all my time in fucking yumyums (which has the world's stupidest name and is only fun coz they have those tables that sink into the floor but half the time they don't let you sit in them anyway) when this absolute solid gold TREASURE is one minute round the corner. Anyway, the window seat is right next to some cute fairy lights and flowers and shit. As per usual I embarrassed my dining partner - 2015 Elite Yelper, Luke Y - by announcing that if this was a tinder date he would definitely be getting laid. BE WARNED THOUGH - romantic as it is, that table is draughty as fuck whenever anyone goes out for a cigarette. The food is the most authentic Thai I've had outside of actual Thailand. We ordered like the fat fucks that we are, and had fish cakes, chicken satay, squid and some kind of stir fried pork. I also rate their masaman curry and kanom jeeb dumplings more highly than I can express in words, and their homemade ice creams are fleek af too plus they do cool flavours like coconut and pandan. Your whole experience here is going to be heightened immeasurably by the cuteness of the tiny Thai grandma that serves the food. I just want to kiss her all over her jolly little face. She brings you these little spearmint chewy sweets with your bill that instantly take on the exact texture of pre-chewed chewing gum when you eat them. Maybe they are chewing gum? Either way, I swallow, but that's enough about my personal life LOL. All in all, it's an A+ experience every time. Big up Thai Cafe, I love you.

Great new place in Mile End! Loads of seating outside which is amazing for the summer time…read more I would say its not your average drink place too. They serve some standard ones and some South East Asian Beer. YES! Thai food too!

Finally checked this place out, I live very nearby and when we fancied eating out on a Sunday…read moreevening we thought we'd give it a go. It was a pleasant warm evening and they had the front doors/windows open fully. The food smelt lovely as soon as we walked in and the friendly waitress sat us at a table for two. This place is tiny, like 6-8 tables tiny. It's obviously more of a takeaway place, judging by the amount of deliveroo and just eat drivers coming and going past our table. We ordered a starter of Thai prawn crackers and duck spring roll to share, which were delicious. The rolls were hot and fresh, not greasy like spring rolls can be and a with tasty dipping sauce. On to the mains, which were brought out quickly. I opted for stir fried chilli and basil beef with coconut rice and my partner had the Pad See Ew. Both of which looked gorgeous HOWEVER beware.....this is not food for weak Caucasian mouths like ours. Neither of us are wimps but we could see both our dishes were absolutely covered with small bits of red chilli and seeds. We were embarrassed by our patheticness and made a valiant effort to eat as much as possible because beyond the heat the meal had nice flavour and the vegetables were crunchy just as I like them. The coconut rice was sticky and not too coconutty - can be sickly otherwise. Eventually we could take no more and decided once our noses started running and brows needed mopping we should give up. The waitress was happy to box up what was left and we grabbed the bill. Meal for two with starters and drinks was £30. The place itself is rustic with corrugated iron roof, shelves of drinks, oils and sauces and homely (if slightly incongruously Americana in style) signs with mottos. This is a cute spot for a Thai meal but probably not if you're wimps like us! Sadly, I'd be hesitant to eat here again but would still recommend to others.
