I just LOVE a good international market!!! Check this place out!! Small-ish, and bit tough to find if you're not familiar with the area, but well worth searching out!! Great selection of all the staples-- teas, rice, TONS of sauces, frozen treats, and MUCH more, along with a small selection of hot, fresh takeout dining choices. I first went to see if they sold chopstick, they do, great selection. I bought their Kimchi that first trip too, delicious! I've been back twice for more Kimchi each time. They have a great selection of Asian products and foods. The cashier is very inviting and friendly. In fact, the last time I had my daughters with me and he gave them each a little box crackers with chocolate mushroom tops. It's worth a trip if Asian cuisine at home, is your thing. read more

I have spent many years in Korea, Pleasing Market puts me right back in the Land of the Morning Calm. Great people! So friendly and welcoming, they remember repeat customers. Customer service here is top notch. I've never had a bad experience. I shop here regularly, we make a lot of Asian meals. I also like to stop in for a few rolls of freshly made Gimbap. If I plan to get more than four, I call ahead and they always have them ready for me. read more

I have been driving past this store for a long time. I've also been getting a lot of mail order dumpling ads and today I decided to stop in to see what the shop is about. the exterior is nothing fancy. but walking in I found a very well stocked and extremely clean business. I explained to an employee it was my first time in and what I was looking for. no hesitation he brought me to each area I needed and clearly explained my options and even explained how I could prepare my dumplings. my only regret was I had never been in before. they also offer some carry out. I want to shop local and to support businesses in my area and I've found another place to do that. I recommend this store. I will be back a lot. read more

This is a pretty clean grocery store. It's bigger than it looks like from the outside. There's always a fridge full of ban chan (side dishes) you can buy right next to the entrance. A lot of the items carried here are Korean, but that wasn't a problem for me. I love Korean food! If you're looking for fresh vegetables, the selection is small. They have a lot more products on the shelves, fridge, and freezer. And a few household goods like blankets, cooking utensils, etc. The couple who was working here were pretty nice. I also like that there's a fridge full of all kinds of ready to drink drinks right next to the entrance. I grabbed about five or six different cans to try. And they are closed on Saturdays. read more

I saw this place as I was searching for a totally different market and ended up going inside. Walking through the door and I was hit with a nearly Pavlovian response from the incredible smells of Bulgogi and Gimbap. I drooled. If they could bottle the smell and sell it, they'd make a fortune. The store is definitely not as large as some of the markets in the region, but it is very well-stocked, clean, and tidy. The employees were super nice and polite to my gangly 17 year old as he fumbled his way through practicing his newly learned Korean as he requested some beef Gimbap. (He says this was the best he has ever had- and he's had it at over 100 places around the US. He's already asked when I'll be going back to pick up him some more.) They have a fridge case in the front of various fresh made banchan as well as the usual housewares, groceries, and even a smaller produce and freezer section. Overall, you could get pretty much anything you needed to make your dakdoritang or bossam or whatever you are hankering for. Definitely will be back- soon. read more

Came here to look for some Korean items while in the area and I was blown away! I'm from California so my expectations for this little store was low, but it blew any expectations away! We tried their $3 veggie kimbap that they freshly make every morning which were delicious, and I was shocked at the variety of items in the store. Additionally, the store is so well organized and clean, as well as fairly priced. Most small korean stores in California are not this well stocked or clean, so I was so impressed. If you want any korean items, I would highly recommend this place. I wish this place was near to where I lived in Cali so I could visit here all the time! read more

The CLEANest Korean market EVER! I was absolutely floored. Mind you, they don't have a fresh fish section (which usually accounts for the smells) but everything is organized and so clean. Everything you could need/want to make your favorite Korean comfort foods were present. Snacks were plentiful. Prices were fair and about the same as larger markets in bigger cities. The extra star is for the service. Everyone is super kind and helpful. Very welcoming and will help with any questions or special requests. I've been shopping here for years and years, but have never thought to review this place until now. My family has been buying the 5,000 Year Foods brand kimchi for decades, so naturally I used to buy this brand too - that is, until I had Pleasing Market's homemade kimchi. I LOVE it. They also make daikon kimchi and various other side dishes. It's very convenient! Also, the produce they have is very fresh, and they reliably have enoki mushrooms as well as oyster mushrooms. Cilantro and bean sprouts are great here as well. The employees here are always friendly and will help you find anything you need. read more

Moved to Ohio recently & needed to find Japanese groceries. This tiny place has almost all of the items on my list, and the service was pleasant and helpful. It did smell like garlic and kimchi, but for me, that's normal for a small family-owned Asian market. Its selection of fresh produce was minuscule (hence the 4/5 stars). read more

The best way to describe this store is to use the word flexible. While it doesn't have as much as huge Asian stores like H-Mart or Mitsuwa, the owner Ashley/Ae Sook will find anything for you. She mainly handles Korean and Japanese products. She speaks English, which is a plus, as not everyone speaks Korean and other stores don't always have someone who speaks English. read more

I've been coming here for a little over a year, since getting stationed here. I enjoy all of the drinks and snacks as well as the fresh food they make daily. It's right across from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, so it's quick to stop in during lunch or after work. The employees are so sweet and love to joke around a lot. I can't believe how lucky we are here in Dayton to have fresh kimbap daily, as well as homemade bulgogi and Korean side dishes.

If you like Korean food, or are just curious, this place is a must. Fresh rice cake of numerous kinds, fresh ban chan, and some seasonal fresh vegetables. Plus all the ingredients you need like mirin, sesame oil, bean paste, sesame paste, etc etc etc. The freezer section has a lot to offer, and the checkout area has Korean bread and gimbap. It's so great to be able to get gimbap. There were three people working there, and all were very pleasant and friendly, so don't worry if you don't speak Korean. There's even a little spot in the back where you can grab some lunch or a hot snack. It's a small place, but offers so much that you can't find at a regular grocery. read more

Definitely my favorite asian market to go to in the Dayton area. The selection is quite nice ranging from Korean/Japanese metas, desserts, ramen, meat and homemade kimchi and other side dishes. They also have a kitchen in the back that sells main dishes like bulgogi in case you want to get a meal. Everything is fresh and the place is clean compared to some of the other markets I've visited in the area so you can trust you're buying good products here and the prices are reasonable. read more

Awesome little mama-papa Asian grocery store near Wright-Patterson AFB. The owner, Ashley, is super friendly and helpful and is always running the cash register at the entrance. The selection is great, especially considering the size of the place- I get a fair amount of my essential Japanese food here. Miso paste, pickles, takwun, unagi, ramen, nori, rice, soba noodles, furikake- it's all here and for a decent price :) Mind you, this place isn't perfect- it's a smaller grocery store, thus a more limited selection. Some of the things she sells, like rice and ramen, are cheaper at Krogers or the commissary, and occasionally I find items that are past their expiration dates. But you have to cut some slack to this little shop- the only employee I have seen is Ashley and she's doing her best to run a much-needed market for those of us who can't survive without some tradition Japanese/Korean cuisine. read more

I wish I'd known about this place sooner! I lived in Korea for a few years and found stuff I thought I'd never be able to get my hands on here in Ohio. They had stock of things I couldn't even find at Jungle Jim's!! The owner greeted me going in and she was so kind, recommended me some things to help try cooking some Korean food. And she wasn't afraid to let me stretch my Korean a bit, something I haven't been able do since I got back. Will definitely be going back there when I need to stock up! read more
