So, if you don't get your paper on Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays....Too Bad! They do not have customer service available after hours. When I attempted to report this online, using my billing statement information, their system said i did not have an account. I tried to sign up for their online newspaper....but again, using the information on my billing statement, their system said i did not have an account with them. I've been receiving the paper for over 2 years. Terrible Customer Service and even worse is their online website. Useless!

Dreadful customer service when newspapers aren't delivered properly or per instructions. In my own experience, problems will not be addressed. For example, they usually won't redeliver if a delivery is missed or paper is wet (most recently, the carrier didn't bother to tie the end of the plastic bag, and the entire Sunday paper was soaking in water!). Their customer service failure rate is between 80-90%. They claim they'll issue a credit when there is a problem. I haven't bothered to check--getting the paper means more to me.. I wouldn't be surprised if they've lied about that too. Supervisors/Managers don't get back to you when matters are escalated. They couldn't care less about their customers. What more can I say!?

The Independent is a good local paper that posts honest reviews, and openly allows debate from all sides of issues. I do not always agree with the editor, but when she states her opinion, she states it AS HER OPINION. So editorial honesty is present. When our City Council sold out to a developer to pack the downtown and ruin its parking and atmosphere, she stated so. And she also printed opposition to her opinion. That is fair journalism. The Independent and Carmel's PineCone are two papers everybody should read. You get a small town approach from people who care. We may have lost control of the two local papers we had, as they are now controlled by outsiders, but we have the Independent. Take a free subscription, you won't regret it.

One quirky but nifty aspect of a local newspaper in a town with a huge physics lab is that there are always interesting articles about the latest LNLL or Sandia news, with a pretty good description of the science behind it. The Independent magazine which is monthly I think is also very informative about local activities. And it's always cool to see your kid's name in print with the complete little league coverage!

When we finally cancelled 2-3 days before they had already 2 weeks prior charged us $65 to our credit card which was a little out of order. Wait 2-3 days before they maybe assume we wanted to continue your trial ..but two weeks before is a little much. The paper is a nice newspaper but way way overpriced for the little bit of thin paper they give you. For a few dollars a week maybe but $275 for the year I don't think we are that naïve. I say subscribe elsewhere to better more news papers.

After being placed on hold numerous times they still could not get the address for the delivery correct. When they finally solved the problem they wanted to give us a $5.25 credit even though we had paid for a full year. This has been the most frustrating experience for a subscription to a newspaper or magazine I've ever went through. Terrible customer service. I requested four or five times to speak with a manager and the manager refused to get on the phone. The agent was told they were supposed to handle the problem. I will never order this Newspaper again!
