Most barbers are good, but there are constant miscommunications that lead to overcharging and the misunderstandings about your intended haircut. The male is the easiest to communicate with and he's great and short hair. He doesn't want to touch long hair. They don't respond to email complaints so this is the only way to communicate. Also, you must confirm the price before you start. The last haircut we had, the Barber trimmed side and did a light touchup on top and we were charged for something called a Bermuda cut, which is more expensive than the typical male haircut (top and sides). Just be sure to confirm the price before you start, so you're not surprised. If you bring your child in, make sure you stand there and watch closely to ensure they're doing what you'be asked. Almost every time I walk away, my son ends up with it different haircut than we talked about. They don't like you standing near their station, but it's necessary. Do not leave your child's side or you'll likely end up with something you did not not ask for. This is purely about communication issues. I always tip more than 20%, no matter how bad the cut, so this is not personal. This is just my experience. Overall, they all have good skill, just be sure you find the one that you can communicate with...we've had great experiences with them and very bad ones as well. It's hit or miss... read more

Have been cutting with Tony for few years , last 2 times it has gone from bad to worse. I asked tony about light trimming for longer hair. Tony said no after waiting 15 mins and said other lady Rachel knows how to cut . Who just used trimmer. Despite of asking for hand trim only the edges. It seems they just know 1 style short . I went to this barber shop and had high expectations due to the ratings. First the haircuts are so quick and cheap that they just want to take people's money and not even care about the kid's hair. No matter what haircut you request, you won't get the same result you asked for. Every single one of them cut really high and they don't even listen to what you asked for. If you ask for a little off the top, they will cut half of your hair off and they will trim off all of your hair on the sides. They don't use scissors to trim your hair, instead they use clippers. But last time I went, they said they no longer accept credit card. They only accept cash or venmo (methods which usually avoid businesses from escaping taxes). And SOME ladies will give you an absolute garbage haircut and just be the unfriendliest person to a point where it's just uncomfortable to be sitting there. I literally come here on a monthly basis for both myself and my 13 year old stepson. Historically, it's been rare to find a combination of speed, quality, and value for Asian American haircuts in the East Bay. In the past, specifically in the Tri-Valley, it has been difficult to find barbers who understood how to cut male Asian American hair. It was easier to find places that could cater to this market/population in suburban and urban San Jose, but the trade-off would be time and cost, as those places usually required advanced reservations and a hefty price which could be up to $40 including tip. Pleasanton Barber shop not only offers a very reasonable price for the current economy, it's also rare that one would have to wait more than 5 minutes during non-peak hours. All the barbers are also very experienced in cutting Asian American styles that were popular during the 2010's. I'll be honest though, I'm not sure how well they would do if you asked for a wolf cut or a mid drop skin fade, but if that's what you're looking for, you should probably be heading to New York or LA for your haircuts. read more

I went today to get a haircut and my sister was getting one too. I asked for layers and my sister asked for a regular trim (around 2 inches or so). My sister has curly hair and these barbers were brushing her hair. It is literally common sense that curly hair is only meant to be brushed when wet because if it gets brushed when it's dry, it gets frizzy. They were brushing her hair so hard that her scalp was hurting and afterwards, her hair looked thin, dead, and extremely frizzy. Not just that, but the barber was making snarky comments and telling my sister things like "Wow, your hair is really tangled, you should brush it more often." There were 2 other barbers standing by my sister and the 3 of them were speaking in a different language so we couldn't understand what they were saying but they kept pointing and laughing at my sister's hair, which made both of us feel uncomfortable. There was also another younger girl, who I assumed was the daughter of one of the barbers, who ran her hand through my sister's hair without consent and walked away. In my opinion, it's extremely unprofessional AND disrespectful to make fun of and laugh at a teenager girl's hair with other hairdressers and have someone who isn't even a barber touch a client's hair. My layers came out looking fine although they were a bit shorter than I had asked for. The only good thing about this place is that they played some Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter. If you have curly hair, honestly, you'd probably have better luck getting a haircut from Edward Scissorhands. It's safe to say my sister and I won't be coming back. ZERO STARS!!! ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!! I have been going to see Tiffany (owner) since before this barbershop was even opened back in 2010 when she was at Cosmos. She used to be amazing, cared about her customers and went above and beyond. As of the last four years, she's become a bitter, mean and blatantly disrespectful barber. Sadly, she's the owner, therefore this makes her a bitter, mean and blatantly disrespectful owner of this barbershop. I have been coming to Tiffany for over 13 years and have referred many of my family and friends who are returning customers that frequent every two weeks, bringing her consistent revenue. The thanks that I get for being a loyal and raving customer is dismissive treatment. She used to take appointments, but given their high foot traffic, she stopped doing so years ago and has a walk in number system. I usually take a number and politely request to see her at her earliest availability (sometimes waiting on her upwards of 90 minutes). The last five visits, she avoided addressing me until after having waited over a half hour, only for her to tell me someone else will assist me. She then snatches the number card out of my hand and abruptly steers me to another barbers chair, nothing short of a shove. I am not sure how she expects to run a business with such behavior. I can't even recall how many times I have driven +1 hour to go see Tiffany, just to be treated like this and ultimately walk out. That is how a long term, loyal customer gets treated at this place of business. Her employees also are rude and dismissive. They do not have a sense of customer experience. If anything, it's as if their efforts are to create a terrible experience. You're better off getting better treatment from the local DMV, quite possibly even a debt collector would treat you nicer. The unfortunate part about this whole circumstance is that they simply do not care. So the least that I can do to express my frustration is to make my experiences public so future customers know to steer clear of this establishment. In addition, I would like to add that I had a perm done here in 2020, and Tiffany burned my hair and completely ruined the texture and natural form of my hair and it has drastically affected the volume of my hair. So if you are considering a perm, DO NOT GET ONE HERE! Do not visit unless you want subpar service and horrible customer experience. Again, I'd like to remind you all of her name, it is TIFFANY. She sits in the far right corner and always has a bitter and aggressive frown on her face. This place is a joke and I hope they get shut down for any reason by the city officials. If anything, I will be sure to call the city office myself so they can ensure that if customers are being treated horribly, at least the establishment will be up to code as they are always over capacity. Maybe this will teach Tiffany to treat people better. I would like to add that a haircut here is only $14, where as I would give her more than double that amount to cover tip. I have been going to this barber shop since they opened and they used to give a great haircut. The last two times I went in for a cut has been terrible. They seem to be changing people because I don't see the same people giving cuts anymore. I used to be able to tell them men's cut blocked back and they would know what that is. Now you have to point to a group of pictures that you have to guess what you want. I told the guy cutting my hair out of my eyes, off my ears and off the collar and to thin out my hair. When I combed my hair this morning it was still over my eyes , over my ears and not really thinned out. Same as the last cut, they just seem to want to do a quick job and get you out.
