Every cut is consistent and just the way I want it. I like that Grant will give me professional advice on what works for my head and hair type if I don't know what kind of cut to get. He is super knowledgeable about different hair textures and hair products. I usually get a haircut every two weeks, but sometimes, I can wait to get a haircut longer because he cuts my hair in a way that makes it look good even when grown out. I looked in and saw the haircut Amanda was giving someone, I thought it looked super fresh... so I went online, found out Amanda's name and booked an appointment for my step son. You know you've found the right spot when you feel like a welcomed friend upon entering. I've had an undercut the last 4 years, a little 'louder' in the past year and this afternoon I saved a space with Jae at Locals Barbershop in Downtown Pleasanton. Everything about my visit was right on, the barber closest to the door invited me to take a seat, so I sat in the middle section on a backless couch, and I'm glad I did because I was able to see all the art and memorabilia. The temperature was just right, Jae offered me a sparkling water, I had a seat in his chair and he did his magic. Throughout the cut I felt very comfortable, which doesn't happen all the time as I have had cuts in shops that were more of a Boys' Club. Recently joined Locals after having to leave another east bay barbershop conglomerate for their lack of attention to detail and customer service. Locals was the opposite. Although I choose to get passed around between two different barbers (due to my scheduling), I've seen and experienced how the barbers here all focus on producing quality cuts. Not only are his cuts clean, his attitude and the culture he has instilled in his shop is top tier. I have never gone to a more accepting, positive, friendly, mindful place. I cant stress enough how good it feels to go to a shop that has good humans working it. I know I'm a customer, but it really just feels like seeing a friend every time I get my cut. These two kids of mine, walk into the shop like they own it, jump into Amanda's chair, chop it up with her, and discuss their future hair styles. So excited Gabe opened up Locals Barbershop in Pleasanton! I've been getting cut by Gabe at his original shop in SF for about 4 years and I was really bummed thinking I'd have to find a new barber after relocating to the East Bay. Thankfully, I won't have to now that he's in the East Bay too! I'm very picky when it comes to selecting a barber and a shop. I usually break down the decision making process into a few key categories: 1) Quality - If I'm not satisfied with the quality I see from barber's pics, I won't even bother setting up an appointment. I have hella cowlicks and my hair is thick, so it takes a while for barbers to get my cut right. Gabe posted a lot of his cuts online, so I could tell he was skilled and dedicated to his craft. I set up an appointment and was really happy with the quality of the cut, and he just keeps getting better! Not only does Gabe hold himself to high standards, he's also very selective of the barbers at his shop so I know they're all legit too. 2) People - It's really important to me that my barber, and the other barbers in the shop are down to earth and chill people. I already know 3 of the barbers at the new shop (Gabe, Grant, and Drew) and all of them are super cool and fun to talk to. This is such a bonus for a shop, because I feel like I'm going to hang out with homies and not going to run an errand. This is definitely intentional. Their brand is all about community and family, and you can actually feel it through their barbers and shop. 3) Environment/Vibe - To me, a barbershop should feel like an extension of you. It should be a place you go to relax, are comfortable being yourself, and can enjoy the experience all while getting a clean cut. Like I mentioned earlier, I think Gabe and his crew absolutely nail this on the people aspect. The shop's physical vibe is still being developed, but it already has a clean/cool feel to it. I know Gabe is carefully considering how he wants to mold the environment for the new shop, and I respect that he's not just tossing up random stuff to be done with it. He's deliberate about the space he wants to create, so I know it's going to be dope. Bottom line - Locals Barbershop in Pleasanton is definitely worth a visit. Yo the vibes here are immaculate. Not only did I get a great cut, after searching for many months for a barber since moving back to the bay but, I want to mention something else. You can tell all the artists there like to be there, and they seemingly like each other, which can be tricky in a small working space. They also are all genuinely invested in the lives of their repeat clients beyond asking about plans for the weekend. The environment alone would make me comfy getting cut by anyone here. With that being said, I got a cut from Jae and I am delighted. I told him I had been struggling to describe what I want, and he never made me feel stupid, never condescending, he asked questions, made cuts, periodically checked in, and was so kind the whole time. I've been taking my boys for the past 2 years to Livermore barbershop and we loved it there, they felt like family and we'd spend hours there just chilling and drinking while my two sons and husband all got their haircuts. I get my hair done at 77 salon in Pleasanton and I noticed this new barbershop but being the loyal customer that I am never thought to walk in or have my boys come here, I figured why if we've been happy going to Livermore and they love Vic, but recently my mom mentioned wanting to pay for the kids cuts and being closer to home so I walked in on Tuesday and grabbed their card and made an appointment. Just when I thought there wasn't a cooler place then Livermore Barber shop I walked into Locals and totally my vibe, it's so chill and such a cool atmosphere that right off the bat I was like " this place is dope" even my boys loved it (ages 5 and 6).
