This review is for Danny. To start, let me say I have a mohawk and what I asked for is super easy and have had barbers do before. This was the worst haircut I have ever recieved, hands down. It actually made me cry when I got home, and I have never cried over my hair before in my life. Until now. First, he was 30 minutes late even though I had made an appointment. He let me know he was running 15 minutes late, which okay, shit happens, it was at the end of the day, but then I got there and he still wasn't done. Probably because he takes forever (my haircut took an hour. Wtf?!) Next, he didn't listen to what I wanted at all, even though I showed him a picture. I told him 0 all the way around the sides. He did a fade from 0 to 2. Had to have him fix it, and again said just do 0 all the way around. Nope. Again a fade from bare skin to 0. I never asked for a fucking fade. Now let's get to the worst part, the top. I asked for it to be more tapered at the ends instead of blunt and to take out some of the weight a bit so it can stand up easier. What did this idiot do? Chop off the sides of the mohawk and use clippers to cut them at an angle. So now the sides don't come up to a point they just stick straight up. And it's choppy as hell. It looks so bad. I really don't know how he fucked it up so badly. Like did he not understand? Did he not care? Can he not use scissors? Who knows. Maybe it's because he just kept talking about his girlfriend in Texas and watching some dumbass movie on TV. The fact that this guy has so many good reviews is unbelievable. I wish I had never gone to see him. Now I have to pay someone else to fix this monstrosity and pray my hair grows fast. read more

Long but worth the read: I wanted to like this place so badly. I'm all about supporting small business and raving about their services to everyone that will listen. Unfortunately, this is one business I will NEVER support. First experience after they opened: Walked in looking for a haircut for my nappy headed son. After they took their sweet time to acknowledge our existence, they looked at me like I had 3 heads and scoffed at me for daring to walk in without an appointment. Fine, I get it. We didn't have an appointment but was hoping, in the off-chance someone was free, we could get in. Win-win for everyone. Second experience and the ONLY reason I'm writing this review: Was introduced to the owner at a nearby establishment where I recounted my negative experience. Thinking that maybe, just maybe, this small business owner would take accountability and want to right the wrong for the sake of his business' reputation. Clearly, I was wrong. This is generally how our convo went: Me: I wanted to give you some feedback on my experience when I went into your shop during your first few months. (Insert my experience here.) Him: Have you ever been in a barbershop before? (insert smirks and laughing) That's how it is 'ma. We're busy, 'ma. You have to make an appointment, 'ma. He kept calling me 'ma and I know this is one kid I did not birth. Me: Yes, I understand. But there is a way to deliver the message rather than treat a potential customer this way....especially when you are a new business in town. I've been to Tiegs in Dublin and Cut to the Chase in Livermore and never once was I treated like that. (I took my nephew to Tiegs a couple times and my son used to go to Cut to the Chase before his barber left. Hence the hunt for a new shop.) Him: Well then go there 'ma. Go see Tiegs or Chase...I know them ma'. See...my people, we're family. That's my family, 'ma! We are artist! We are artist, 'ma! The conversation continued on the same way for about 10 minutes. What was I expecting him to say you may ask? "My apologies for your poor first experience with our shop. Barbershops are crazy busy and can be a little rough if you aren't used to them. Let me try to make it right. Here's my card. Give me a call for an appointment....'MA!" Something that shows this man cares about his business and its continued growth. Nope, nada...'ma! When my dad walked over to see if I was okay (the conversation got intense), I told him that everything was fine and he walked away. At that time, the barbershop boy said "oh, you want me to call my dad too 'ma?" Bragged about his membership to the DT association and how I shouldn't come back to his family of artists. I could not believe this man and business owner conducted himself in this manner. The owner is arrogant, ghetto AF and acts as if he's untouchable. Pros: Well maintained barbershop and good atmosphere. Cons: I asked for a specific haircut and goatee preference (A razor shave and line up, keep the beard and mustache thick/full). First, the barber used edgers and close shavers instead of a razor for my shave. Second, my mustache and goatee were shaped unevenly. Third, my beard was thinned down. Complete opposite of what I asked for. Talk about paying $45 (+ $5 tip because I didn't care to wait for change) and having to go home and fix your own goatee! I told him more than twice that he wanted to keep it long and just wanted it trimmed. Derrik obviously can't control the amount of consumption of weed to have the where with all to be stoned and cut hair. My son is traumatized by this experience. I would not hesitate to designate this place as my go-to, but $35 seems like way too much for a beard lineup, although he did take a good 35-40 minutes taking care of me. I've been told that there are plenty of places that only charge $15-25 for lineups. Anyway... I liked the place so much I might bite the bullet regardless and pay a little more. Just moved to Dublin a few weeks ago and needed a new barber desperately, one of my old coworkers hooked it up with @dannyblendz. So I book it about a week in advance (like you should at a good barbershop). As an LA native I walked in expecting everyone to hate me when I said the raps were gonna take in six. I was totally right, got all the hate I wanted and a nice fade. Danny's got several years with his license and it shows, that dude broke the land time record for nice fade. Pleasantly surprised and would 10/10 recomend. But for real this place is legit and everyone was friendly even if I am some a-hole from Los Angeles. 10/10 going back for a touch up in a couple weeks. Danny has been a tremendous barber/consultant/friend to me over the years and I wouldn't dream of having my hair cut by anyone else. A friend referred me to this shop because of how close it was to my residence. I met the 2 owners, dope ass individuals, there was a total of 3 barbers and they all knew each other prior so the atmosphere was dope. I personally got a fade with a lineup by straight razor. The whole experience was them just talking about stupid things to eachother and making comments over and over that i must be a trump supporter because im white.
