I decided to try a new local barber because it had been difficult getting a hold of my usual barber. Niko provided a great experience from a customer-service perspective. He genuinely tries to get to know you by asking questions during the haircut. Before getting started, he also asks what kind of cut you're looking for and repeats it back to make sure he understands. I told him I wanted a simple mid taper and specifically said nothing off the top. I already had my previous mid taper outlined from my regular barber, so I thought it would be a straightforward cut. After Niko finished, he handed me the mirror to see the final result. I was immediately shocked by how high he went with the taper in the back and how short the top had become. At the time, I didn't realize just how much had been taken off the top. It wasn't until I got home and washed my hair that I could really see how much had been cut. I understand that barbers have their own recommendations and may have suggestions for improving a haircut. However, if a barber believes taking a significant amount off the top is necessary, I feel the customer should be told before that hair is cut--especially when the customer specifically says they don't want anything taken off the top. Niko was friendly and provided good customer service, but unfortunately, the haircut itself was not what I asked for. I'm now left waiting months for my hair to grow back to where it was.

In order to set up appointment you just need to call and find out when Rob or the other person in the barbershop is available. The place itself has an old-school feel to it in the best way possible. It's located towards the edge of the main downtown Pleasanton strip. Parking was easy both times. I really like this place because Rob truly understands your hair. Like the nuances of my hair and how my hair was going to stick up at a certain length or how my hair at different parts of my head would look with certain type of cuts, etc. He walked me through the options. He has a great attention to detail which I really like. He also he's really friendly and easy to work with. The whole experience was great for me. I don't think I have complex hair, but you would be surprised at how many places I feel don't really get my head, haha. As a matter of fact, my profile picture with my niece at Disneyland was right after I got a haircut from Rob. I think the first time I came here I took over my brother's appointment and the second time I was going to be in town so I called and made an appointment for myself.
