Ever since I joined the Board of a small historical Nevada cemetery, I pay more attention to these…read moreplaces when I'm out travelling. There's a lot going on at these places "beneath the surface" (so to speak) beyond gazing at many interesting final resting plots of loved ones. My Son suggested we drive through what he calls "A big ass cemetery within the SW Portland Hills". This is a huge and impressive cemetery, of which only the marked bike routes on the road kept us from getting lost. As I was gazing at tombstones and watching the occasional families visit their loved ones, I could have respectfully lingered a bit more.

While my original complaint still stands, bumping to 5* as don't want to ultimately detract someone from going with them as when you need them, it's a difficult time and ultimately recommended.

My only complaint would be that my loved one died on a Saturday morning. I tried to contact them on Sunday during business hours and spoke with someone who said a funeral director would call me back, but no one did. However, once I called on Monday and spoke directly with a funeral director, everything proceeded smoothly from there. All the paperwork is done on-line. Their prices are good, a big part of this is likely because the office on Millikan (in the City Hall Building in the Beaverton Round) is apparently just a small office with low overhead. The cremation is done through Riverview Abbey. It was done quickly and I was able to pick them up at the Millikan office (you can also pick up at Riverview Abbey). They can mail them to you as well. Obtaining death certificates through them was also easy, as was getting an obituary posted to their website. They are very professional, responsive, and happy to help.

Canby Funeral Chapel staff performed the services for both my parents over the years very well and I would recommend their services. I will say that Canby Funeral Chapel does not print the obituary notices/cards which has changed since the time of my father's passing so you might want to take that into account when your planning the arrangements for your loved one.

Oh, Nellie Olson, that evil child on Little House on the Prairie? The real person who that character was created for is buried here. When I am fortunate enough to work in Forest Grove I often stop here....just because it is a peaceful, wonderful place. If I am extra lucky I even get a photo request for this cemetery....of which I grab it!

Wow! The service was Spectacular and their help was Incredible…read more We had met with Lincoln Memorial, where our sweet granddaughter was buried. Up until this point, Lincoln Memorial had been great to work with, and I highly recommend them as a cemetery -- you just need to get your marker elsewhere. Here's why: Lincoln Memorial wanted to charge a ridiculous price, plus charge an additional $450 because we wanted to design it. I might add one of the reasons we wanted to design it was because they don't have a clue what they are doing when it comes to designing, and can only come up with random, ugly text and one of a very small range of static stock vector images, which we did not like. So it was necessary to make our own design to actually honor Baby Jade. Lincoln Memorial also did not let us know that the green stone eventually turns yellow. In addition, they claimed that if we had a stone made elsewhere, it would not be guaranteed or cared for. We found out this is untrue. AFM guarantees the stone, and Lincoln Memorial is required by Oregon Law to care for the headstones. The stone we chose was 12 x 24, set vertically. Angie steered us away from green given its tendency to turn yellow. We picked blue. We sent Angie the custom design. She and her husband enhanced the little baby feet, found better butterflies and poppies (more detailed to reduce "negative space" where water would pool), inverted the graphic of the Rome Temple, did a sand blasting of that area which we just really loved, then after customizing it, they manufactured, delivered and set a truly Beautiful headstone for less than $1000 (including the fees that Lincoln Memorial charges for having someone else make it and set it). AFM did not charge any fees for custom artwork. It was all included in their pricing, as was the fee for delivering and setting the stone. What a relief to finally have the Beautiful Memorial stone finished for Jade. Cannot wait to see it after the install. So grateful we found AFM!! Highly recommend!

Guy is a genuinely kind man who made me feel comfortable and was very patient when I had difficulty hearing him (I am hearing-impaired). He truly cares about the families he serves and offers compassionate service at prices far more reasonable than many funeral homes--some of which charge nearly double. Having been on the short end of the stick at some other places in this situation people should take a moment to seek out good advice. My advice? This being my first need for such a service in the Portland area I had zero complaints with the staff and services offered by Riverview Cemetery. They were very attentive to my every question and explained every detail I was unclear about. From showing us available plots in a very caring way to talking about the handling of my brother's remains it was nearly painless. As painless as something like that could be. If a cemetery can have true beauty then you would be looking far and wide to find a more serene, well manicured area for your loved ones to rest. Among the trees and monuments they lay with the finest Portland families and individuals.. The Benson's, Henry Weinhard, the Jubitz's, Lyle Alzado. You could do a lot worse.

I've been to two services at Riverview Abbey in the past, and was genuinely impressed with the…read morelevel of kindness the funeral director and the rest of the staff seem to present at all times. We often don't think about all of the meticulous details required to organize funerals and memorial services, but these folks handle everything with precision and grace. The facility is tucked away in a hidden corner of Portland on Taylor's Ferry Road, and rises out of the forrested hillside suddenly - making it very easy to miss! The building boasts a large parking lot that covers two levels, and there are accessibility features throughout the property for those in need of them. Though the mausoleaum is an expansive space filled with light, it feels quiet and intimate. I'm very impressed that a facility dating back to 1916 is able to sparkle and shine like it was built yesterday. I very much appreciate the management and staff's dedication to maintaining this important place that is special to so many families.

Despite spending many years in the Keizer area, I never knew about Claggett Cemetery. It hides…read morebehind a large residential area, seems well maintained, and is small enough to look like a big backyard / little park that just so happens to have some tombstones in it. Had it not been for Yelp and the magic of Google Street View, I'm not sure if anyone would find this place with ease. Many of the tombstones are not raised, and there doesn't seem to be any office / meeting area where staff would be. Save for a small sign on a gate, and it might not seem obvious this is a cemetery. We laid one of my closest relatives to rest here. The staff that was present was helpful in conducting the ceremony and gave my family and I a chance to grieve our loss peacefully and with grace.
