They have plenty of benches to either read or enjoy your lunch. I went today to walk and enjoy the sunshine. TOTALLY safe by myself! They have bochii ball, disc park, basketball court, outdoor skating area, fenced dog park, etc. They also have a large covered area with picnic tables and grills. The park has 2 separate fenced areas with slides and other fun things for the kiddos. I noticed there is several public restrooms throughout the park There is also a renovated baseball field inside the park. There is a pond and most of the walking trails are pretty flat and easy to walk. I love to come here and throw a Frisbee or just chill under one of the massive trees that are all around the park. Centrally located. And close to everything. So quiet in the mornings! This is my happy place to relax!

Free parking along Highway 49 at the American River and a large and free parking area at the American River Overlook Park across from Railhead Park in Auburn. Perfect access point to the Western States Trail that takes you down to the American River as well as a large assortment of trails that cover the north side of the American River Canyon. Paved as well as natural trails for every skill level. Bikes are welcome on several of the trails as well as horses. The Western States Trailhead at the Overlook has a staging and parking area for horse vans. Regular parking for about 150 cars at the Overlook and no charge for parking. For the advanced hiker you have a well marked trail that will take you from Overlook Park all the way to Folsom. In the late afternoon you might catch deer roaming the hillside. A couple of waterfalls in the area that are worth a visit. Beautiful views of the American River as you hike along the canyon trails. Most trails are well marked. The free app. "All Trails" provides a detailed map of the trail system in Auburn and makes it easy to determine the length of time it will take to hike to most scenic spots.

My dog had a blast running around without us worrying about a messy cleanup afterward. We visited in April, and I could already see that the trees will provide some nice shade in the summer, making it a great spot year-round. I followed the GPS directions and no go!!!! I was on HWY 70 for less than half mile when I needed to use the exit ramp and turn off into the park well shot there's no place to turn I could see the park next to river but no access road so I continues to try and go around the corner which put me in a sketchy neighborhood I backtracked my tracks and still could not get there. Due to traffic I just continued on but I did get a good look at the park and did look very very dry I don't know but you think the City would keep it clean and green... Sorry I have no pics.. I didn't get close enough to see if there are still homeless people.
