Dr. Bautista and his entire team are kind, gentle, and caring- over the phone and in person. They happily assist with your dental care plan to make the best use of insurance providers. They gladly explain all processes & procedures to make you feel very at ease. I have extreme dental anxiety from early childhood & beyond and Dr. Bautista and his associates treat me with the utmost dignity & respect. Cool fact- the office uses digital scanning to make replacement crowns and prints them in porcelain on-site. No temporary crowns. One single office visit! My entire family are patients with them. Very Highly recommended! read more

Lost 2 teeth because of Randy bautista's greedy unnecessary dental procedure. Saw his advertisement in the church & as a Catholic should warn the public of his practice to avoid pain, infection & lost of tooth. He will milk your insurance with unnecessary dental work. You only have one set of teeth, I would not recommend him to even examine my teeth. Not sure how people like him can sleep in peace at night knowing you messed up someone's dental health. read more

I absolutely do not recommend this place. Dr. Bautista is ok, but his staff is even worse. My last job's insurance plan covered two cleanings a year, so that was awesome. My problem came with the dental hygienist. She scraped and cleaned my teeth and told me that despite them being slightly crooked, my teeth looked to be in pretty good shape. When Dr. Bautista came in to do my oral examination, he didn't ask the normal questions you'd expect from a dentist, like if you smoke, drink, how much sugar and starch do you consume on a regular basis. Instead, he asked me odd questions like if I was the policy holder on my insurance and if I was a dependent on anyone's healthcare plan. He told me that his recommendation would be to get braces or Invisalign or whatever they're called. As soon as he said that, the same dental hygienist who cleaned my teeth started saying things like, "Oh wow, your teeth are in really bad shape. You should really think about getting braces." I held off at the time. During the oral exam, Dr. Bautista found a cavity and had me schedule an appointment for a filling. I had an FSA with my last job, and I took my FSA card with me to pay for the new patient oral exam and the filling. The Asian lady at the desk refused to take it, saying she would only take a credit card or if I chose to, I could wait for them to send the bill in the mail and have me send a check to the office. I ended up just waiting on the bill to come in and sending a check. I spoke to the company rep that handled my FSA and they told me to get a copy of my ledger. They told me to file a claim on their website and highlight any out-of-pocket charges so I could be reimbursed. When I asked the Asian lady after my second cleaning for the ledger, she got extremely hostile and refused to give it to me. When I said that I needed a copy to submit my claim, she angrily said that my insurance would deny the claim. I told her that very well may be, but I wanted to at least ask my insurance. That was when she reluctantly printed out a copy I asked for. Lo and behold, a few weeks after submitting my claim, I was reimbursed by my FSA. I can't recommend this place any less, and I would've left zero stars if it were possible. read more

Let me start off by saying there is NO relation to myself and Dr. Bautista. We both just happen to have very good last names.. of course a great ice breaker to start off my first visit. Nice 2nd floor office space fairly easy to find. Usually a ton of parking in the mornings when I go during the week. Once checked in I usually have close to no waiting time, 5 minutes tops. Dr. Bautista and his entire staff are the nicest bunch you will ever meet! They always make sure to greet me first thing and keep me up to date with what they are doing. During my visits, whoever is working on my teeth always make a great effort to be sure to educate myself during the process and make sure I am doing okay. I've had to postpone a couple appointments and they have always been very accommodating with rescheduling. If you need a new dentist, or have always been weary of going; look no further! This is the dentistry you should go to as they make it a very easy and friendly experience. read more

I Lost my job and when I no longer had dental insurance this office called me and left a voicemail that they saw my insurance was no longer valid. Instead of canceling my appointment they called me again to tell me they were charging me a $75 fee for not canceling my own appointment. The lady was extremely rude on the phone treating me like a low life for losing my insurance and disputing the $75 fee. I SUGGEST FINDING A DIFFERENT DENTIST! read more

I moved to the area a few months ago and had to find a new dentist in-network with Guardian insurance. Someone on the Nextdoor app recommended Pleasant Hill Family Dentistry so I thought I'd give them a try. It was by far the worst experience I've ever had at a dental office. During the first 5 minutes of my exam by the assistant she said my front tooth was going to fall out if I didn't get braces. I said braces are not a priority for me and she went on to tell me that her friend's tooth fell out because she didn't get braces until her 50s. Dr Bautista then came over to start the exam and went on to say that if I don't get braces I won't be able to chew my food. He literally pointed out every single "flaw" on my teeth after I told him I'm not interested in braces and they are not a priority for me. At this point I felt so uncomfortable, I said I don't want to continue my appointment, got up and left. These people use bullying tactics as a way to sell their products. I'm adamant about getting regular check ups and cleanings every 6 months and have never been told by any other dental professional in my entire life that my teeth are going to fall out or that I wouldn't be able to chew my food properly if I didn't get braces. I do not recommend this establishment to anyone searching for a new dentist. Looks like other reviewers have had a similar experience. Wish I read these Yelp reviews before coming here. read more

BEWARE !!!! This is the worst Dentist one could possibly ask for . Everything he put in my mouth , as well as my wife's , fell out within months . Tried to bill me for work he did as a result of his own mistakes . He is a charming guy and a good Salesman that I wish I never met . read more

Has to be one of the worst dentists/offices I've ever seen. I've seen a lot of dentists over the years, from moving and just dental work. Had a few cavities filled, and now 4 years later it is still painful to floss between those teeth. I went back right away after noticing the new pain and sensitivity, and he sanded the filling down and said 'well they'll just be sensitive now'. A few weeks later a I received a bill for that second visit, which I had to call to resolve. My husband has had a terrible time doing Invisalign through them. He has to keep following up with them and chasing them down to get the next trays. Mind you, this is all pre-COVID. I was seen there in 2017 and he started his Invisalign at the end of 2018, and we're STILL dealing with this. read more

My insurance allows for cleaning every 6 months. The scheduler booked my appointment incorrectly and before my 6 months, and my insurance would not cover it. I defer to their ability to book at appropriate intervals. I reached out to them regarding this issue. Two months passed, and I received a bill for the full service. I will not be returning to their office. Disappointed and now looking at a bill of almost 200.00. read more

Dr Bautista is nice. But staff and doctor can be patronizing. They are not clear about appointments and what they are for. They also do not thoroughly check insurance coverage before doing unnecessary exams. Then, they charge my insurance after telling me that since nothing was done for that appointment, NOT EVEN A CONSULT, just going over what my endodontist already said. They billed my insurance then billed me. They took off my charge, but STILL BILLED MY INSURANCE! Which is over 5% of my yearly maximum, which I needed for my other necessary dental work. Will not be coming back. read more

So I never ever write reviews but I just wanna say how amazing this dentist office is! Everyone and I truly mean everyone was so kind and friendly and total sweet hearts. Dr. Bautista answered all my questions, and was thorough in finding out my dental history. Its also very rare for a doctor of any kind to give suggestions on what they think, but ultimately leave your bodily autonomy and decisions up to you, as long as they're informed. I picked Pleasant Hill Dentistry when I needed a dentist that used my dental plan. A friend raved about this office. It is on my block, so the commute is easy! I totally agree with my friend. The office is clean - and they are being very careful during the pandemic. I have a strong gag reflex, a very small mouth, positional vertigo, and a strong tongue with a mind of its own. They don't seem to be bothered and work very well with me. They explain everything well. They just want you to have a healthy mouth - not pad their wallets with unnecessary procedures. I waited to write this review after being there for a couple of years. I'm very happy with their work and highly recommend this office. read more

Dr. Randy Bautista is an excellent dentist! Not only is he professional, but he takes the time to educate you on the procedure and treatment plan. He is very detail orientated and his staff is very courteous! Pam is very organized and happily answers any questions regarding payment and insurance. I feel, Dr. Bautista is open and honest about your treatment plan. He preforms the necessary work and makes you feel comfortable with the process. I trust him and would recommend him to any friends or relatives. We started going to Dr. B is 2007 and then moved to New York. After returning to California, we now drive 2 hours just to see him. I would rather drive the distance knowing I am going to receive quality work and have a pleasant experience. :) read more

We originally picked Dr. Bautista because truthfully, he's close by and he takes our insurance LOL. But we (my son and I) have now seen him for 2 appointments each, and we've been happy with the results and his office as a whole. :) His staff is really friendly and his office and equipment are current. We didn't have to wait a long time at all for our appt (a plus), and everyone made us feel welcome, especially since i had my crazy toddler in tow. :P My 7 year old felt very comfortable with the dental assistant, the hygienist, and Dr. Bautista; they were all really nice and explained everything to me and him. Besides the usual toothbrush set they give the patient, they also gave me a little one for my toddler too (thanks, i needed that!). For my appt, I came in on a Saturday (I needed to; I couldn't drag my 19 mo old with me for that!). I really appreciate that he has some Saturday appointments! Dr. Bautista and Kelli the DA both told me I could relax and hang out however long I wanted, if I wanted to catch up on my gossip magazines LOL! I was highly tempted by such a generous offer to "get away" although I couldn't. :) I can tell that Dr. Bautista is all about patient teaching; he is very thorough in explaining everything. I happen to like that because I like to know what's going on! The only thing is that for my second appointment, I was actually in a bit of a hurry and so I would've liked to pass on him explaining everything (the anatomy of a cavity, it's location, etc) beforehand. It would've been great it he explained it during the filing procedure instead, but he probably had his reasons. It wasn't a big deal breaker or anything, but I just realized I should've made it more clear I was in a hurry (instead of just asking how long it'd take). All in all, I'm very happy we found his office and of course the rest of my family will go to him when the time comes. His location is super convenient (right on the corner of Gregory an Cleavland, right behind downtown PH) with lots of parking. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention the very thorough but very low pressure invisalign consult (for me). He explained everything about it and I got the financing info from his office manager, but there was definitely no pushiness to do it (although i really want to!), thank goodness! read more

I found Dr, Bautista a few years ago when I moved back to the area and was blessed with insurance. I had 9 cavities at the time and very happy to leave dental schools for someone I could pick. I searched for reviews every where and liked the ones I read about him here and tried him out. I found all the staff very nice and helpful. When getting 9 cavities filled you need a lot of patience... Dr. Bautista is patient but not a saint. He is good dentist that is very competent. He will not act like a baby sitter or feel bad for you. He will do what is best for your mouth and teeth. And that is what is most important to me. I am very happy with all my teeth cleanings I have had and all my fillings are excellent as well. I would only give 5 stars if I had my feet rubbed too! read more

I was apprehensive about finding a new dentist, especially since I had a traumatic experience in the past with a terrible dentist. I am happy to say that after doing a lot of research and reading reviews, I found Pleasant Hill Dentistry and Dr. Randy Bautista's team and am so glad I did. Everyone at the office is great... they are professional, personable, and I always feel very comfortable during my visits. Dr. Bautista enjoys what he does, cares about his patients, and is VERY gentle! I have been to his office 4 times so far (I had a cleaning, temporary crowns placed, a recheck, and permanent crowns placed)... I didn't even feel it when he gave me shots to numb me up. Overall, every time I've been to their office, it's been a pleasant experience. I can't say enough nice things. Seriously, for me to not have a mini panic attack about going to see the dentist is a big deal. If you are looking for a dentist and live in the area, make an appointment... or if you are like me and are nervous about finding a dentist, make an appointment :) You will soon be converted! read more

I just moved here and had to go through all the hassle of finding a new Dentist. After hours of research I came across Randy Bautista. So I decided to call and make an appointment for me and my husband. after I called I was told they have Saturday appointments *BONUS* Here are a few notes: The Office: Was incredibly clean...Had some kid toys to entertain your little ones. You don't spend much time in the waiting room, but if you have to spend time in there they have plenty of magazines. It a nice location in downtown Pleasant Hill, on Gregory Receptionist: Are extremely nice and helpful! Were able to double check that they took my insurance before I made an appointment. When I had a work conflict they were able to reschedule me not once but twice in a timely manner. Appointment Reminders:: You receive a text about a week out to remind you of your upcoming appointment. If you don't confirm via text they call you a day or two before to remind you. *BONUS* Dental Hygienist: Are very nice and knowledgeable. Most important the do a GREAT job and get you in at out. A regular cleaning took 45 minutes. Dentist: Is a very nice guy who seems to always have a smile like the picture. Very gentle and knows a lot about teeth. When I was just their the other day, he was able to answer all questions I had about my daughters mouth. He's not pushy but does let you know about things they sell in the office. I highly recommend coming here! read more

I just went to see Dr. Bautista Monday on 5/2/11 and am impressed. I think the office is good sized, and the staff makes you feel comfortable and at home. It's bright and clean and plenty of parking. He's easy going, professional, and doesn't talk down to you. I've been with my dentist since the early 90's who's located in Benicia and due to time constraints was forced to find a dentist closer. I work out of a hiring hall and don't know my schedule so it's hard for me to make appointments. Best of all, THIS GUY HAS SATURDAY HOURS!!!!!! Once a month, but that fits my schedule!!!! I'm sad to leave Dr. Shafer in Benicia, but with Dr. Bautista I can now get great service and only drive the other side of the 680 freeway. read more

Dr Bautista and his staff were great!! This is the first time a write a review but I felt like I had to.. I took my 2 boys first was extremely happy with the care then I went my self. You only have one set of adult teeth so take good care of them and avoid this place at all costs. I wish I would have read the bad reviews first! I still have pain on the left side on my mouth from being seen here by Dr Bautista. If he tells you that your silver filling needs to be replaced, do not believe him. He did a very poor job. I went to another dentist for a second opinion and sadly the work he did on my tooth was very poor quality/incorrect. If you care about your teeth stay away. read more

During these times I seek to acknowledge, support, and praise people. Unfortunately, this is not the case. This dental office is very unprofessional and dishonest! I came as a new patient as my dentist moved away. They quoted me a price after checking with my insurance and then scheduled my appointment for treatment. After my treatment, my bill was triple the amount! They basically said "sorry we forgot to tell you". They refuse to make it right. Office staff have no idea what they are doing and really don't care how it effects their patients. Such a shame as I was excited to find a dentist close to home and he seemed really nice. read more

Unfortunately because I moved, I had to find a new dentist and found Dr. Bautista through my insurance and Yelp. I honestly don't know how he's gotten so many good reviews - I found him to be a very condescending. His staff was very nice, but he didn't listen at all and talked over me repeatedly. Example: "Do you grind your teeth?" "No, I don't." "Well, open up and I'll take a look and will tell you if you do or not." Seriously, what IS that? I just told him that I didn't. I think my husband, whom I've been with for 15 years, would've presumably alerted me to this prior - if I did. And nope, Dr. Bautista didn't find any indication that I either grind or clench my teeth. Anyway, my background with dentists is very extensive and I will oftentimes fall asleep in their chairs while undergoing procedures - so I am quite comfortable going to dentists, endodontists and oral/maxillofacial surgeons. And because of the considerable amount of work that I've had done and the money that I've invested in my mouth - I am extremely diligent in caring for my teeth/gums. Dr. Bautista, acknowledged this, but was still very condescending and started lecturing me about the benefits of flossing - again, despite me telling him that I floss daily and sometimes even 3 times a day. Ugh. Honestly, I couldn't wait to leave his office. =S read more

Dr. Bautista did a crown for me last year. Today I had to go in to have a root canal done on that tooth. While I had my temporary crown in, I told Randy that I could not chew on that side of my mouth because it still hurt so bad. Before my appointment to cement the permanent crown on, I asked for a root canal since I was in so much pain still. Randy refused and told me there MIGHT be a chance that it calms down. With the pain I was having AFTER (3 weeks after) he had already worked on it he put the crown on with permanent cement instead of using a temporary cement to see if the pain subsided. Now I have a $1500 porcelain crown that will have to be drilled through or destroyed so I can have a root canal tomorrow. I have not been able to chew on the left side of my mouth for 13 months now because Randy Bautista will not listen to his patients. Go someplace that you will be listened to. It may be that he did not do root canals and did not want to lose me as business. I don't know. I do know he should have been more sensative to my needs as a patient and not billing me for work that I would need AGAIN. Now I am stuck getting more work, taking more time off work, and paying more than I would have the first time if he would have done his job correctly. read more

I'm making this review with the gift of hindsight, as it's been a few years since my last visit here. In general, this is a nice office with a friendly staff. Dr. Bautista is very knowledgeable and the hygienist I've seen here has been very pleasant. I knocked off 2 stars because of my last recommended treatment. In retrospect, it was somewhat aggressive. They recommended some heavy work, including a crown. I sought a second opinion that ended up being decidedly more conservative, but most importantly did not include a need for a crown. A few fillings and a few years later, everything is A-Okay in my mouth, with no expected need for a crown any time soon. A crown is a serious step, and one that shouldn't be recommended lightly. I understand that dental opinions can vary tremendously, however in hindsight Dr. Bautista's ended up being one I'm glad I didn't follow. This is just one experience, though. In fairness, my second opinion said that the tooth was close to needing a crown, and had I let it go for another year it would need it, but there was certainly enough good tooth left to warrant a regular filling. I wouldn't take that as a reason not to see Dr. Bautista. read more

Worst dentist I've ever had. I switched dentists after a move and saw the great Yelp reviews. Don't be fooled. If you leave a Yelp review your name goes into a drawing for a prize at his office-that is why there are stellar reviews. Mr. Bautista did a crown on one of my teeth and when he went to place it on my tooth it didn't fit properly. Instead of sending it back, he went with brut force and pushed sooo hard until it finally went on. I can't even describe the pain. 3 years later my crown had a crack in it and now I need to replace it! In addition he was more focused on where to get drinks with his hygienists than with me on more than 1 visit. He talked down to me as well. Honestly, don't go here. Your teeth are depending on you. read more

There are dentists out there who try to put you on a financial plan after your first consultation to squeeze as much money out of you, and then there are honest people like Dr. Bautista who aren't sales people pretending to be dentists. Prior to becoming a patient of Dr. Bautista, I had an awful and very costly experience with my previous denstist in Walnut Creek (I won't name the practice but any dentist office with the word "Art" in the name should've raised a red flag) and avoided going back there despite follow-up work that was needed on my tooth. Luckily my husband found Dr. Bautista and recommended that I make an appointment. That was two years ago, and I have to say Dr. Bautista and his staff have won my trust. I have never felt any pressure ever from Dr. Bautista or his staff to get all the work done right away and have worked with me to schedule visits based on my insurance plan. This was a very important criteria for me and Pam has been a wonderful help here! As one yelper has already said, Dr. Bautista and his staff are very friendly, down to earth, genuine and funny. They have been very accommodating to both my husband and I, and I actually find myself enjoying my dental visits! read more

I stumbled upon Dr. Bautista's practice through Yelp. The Goods: 1. Office hours are very accommodating. 2. The practice does not pressure the patient on doing dental work. Some dental offices go right away to the financial and makes sure you are capable of paying before any procedure is done. I didn't feel it here. 3. Dr. Bautista is amicable and would listen to your dental concerns and offer advice on how to resolve these problems (even to the point of doing rework). Suggestions for Improvement: 1. Still uses X-ray films. Most dentist nowadays use Digital X-ray imaging. Personally, Digital X-ray should be the standard since it provides the dental practitioner a quick way to know if the procedure was properly done. 2. This part may be relative, but I don't really like letting dental assistants do any other work on my teeth except creating impressions. From my experience on my visits, some of the work like creating temporaries or polishing have been done by the assistants. Somehow this makes me feel a little bit uneasy. 3. Most dental practices I've been to are very critical and precise to the point that they analyze the tooth they are working on before, during and after the procedure. (IE. making sure margins are covered) All in all, Dr. Bautista is a good doctor and tries to create a personal connection with his patients but sadly misses the mark a little because of not taking that extra mile to show pride in his work. read more

I cannot say enough about Dr. Bautista. I am a new patient and have now been to his office twice. First of all, in Dr. Bautista's practice, it seems that your appointment time is actually your appointment time. I don't remember a shorter wait in any practitioner's office, ever. Dr. Bautista and his staff are friendly and professional, they explain procedures and costs very clearly, and I am confident that they only recommend the procedures that are necessary. Should be a given in any dental practice, but in my experience, it's not always something you can count on. I went back for a second visit to have a tooth filled. I have had work on the same tooth three times in the past and NOT ONCE has the dentist been able to get the area completely numb on the first try. They have always had to stop in response to excruciating nerve pain to renumb the area. When I told Dr. Bautista about my anxiety, he reassured me that he would be able to do it, but I was still nervous. Well, I'm happy to say that I was completely numb throughout the procedure and felt absolutely no pain whatsoever. I highly recommend Dr. Bautista to anyone in the area who is looking for a great dentist. read more

Dont got to this place!!! its horrible. The ambiance is fair!! but the experience of dentist and knowledge of front desk regarding insurance is poor. Randy did a filling in my tooth and it came off not only once but twice!!! I even swallow the first filling when it came off. On the second time it came off, I asked another dentist to do it and not Dr. Baustista. Randy also did tooth bonding to cover the space between my tooth but after the procedure, there is still a space and charged me full amount. Im not reall satisfy of what he did. I went to another cosmetic dentist and he wants to redo that tooth bonding because there is still space and its really ugly that it changed the shape of my tooth!! He also did a tooth bonding in my front tooth but I do not see really difference!!!! Also, they said that they will do verification of my insurance to make sure they cover the services before they can proceed as it not an emergent case. I specifically told them not do any procedure yet until they get a confirmation from my insurance that its okay to do the procedure. They said everything is okay. Then suddenly I got a bill from them and they said that my insurance will not cover some services. Obviously, they made a mistake in verification process of my insurance. I called the insurance company and they told me that they even told them what are the covered services. What they did is they charged me for the services that are poorly done and mistake of their employees!! They charged me for the tooth bonding that still has space, tooth filling that came off twice and the failure of them to verify the insurance accurately. So bottom line, make sure to find a good dentist around the area. There is a lot out there who are competitive, experienced and knowledgable. I dont usually use yelp but it force me to do it so other people will not get the same experience I had!! read more
