Ok, so I will be frank. I did not want to write this review…read more Why? Because I don't really want the secrete to be out. But that's selfish, right? So, let me tell you a story.... I am accident prone. I am a skier, and motorcycle rider (actually, I should say, I 'was' a motorcycle rider until my last accident). So, basically means I get hurt a lot. It doesn't help that I am a klutz, so I mean a lot. I've seen my share of physio therapists, RMT's, etc. Some helped a bit, some were completely useless, and most made me question why I am wasting my money and time. Then I heard about Physioworks. As a last resort after a rather bad fall from skiing, I made an appointment and went in to meet Jessie. I won't say she's a miracle worker. Well, leaving that term ('miracle worker') out, I am not quite sure what else to call her. Ok, she's a miracle worker. She probably will deny that, but she is. It's not just how she fixes me up time and time again, every time I get into an accident, land badly on my skies (or rather with them flying off), or when I get hit by a moose. Yes, that actually happened. This is no walk-on-the-beach physio session though. She works you hard. You are not a passive observer, but an active participant in your therapy. All I can say is, if you want your body to heal and are willing to actively participate in healing your own body; give Physioworks a try. You won't regret it. If you are looking to be hooked on to a machine, and expect the machine to do all the work for you, this may not be for you. I am writing this review, because I thought 'Only if I knew about this place years ago, my life could've been so much better, with less pain, etc.' Not that I would've gotten into less accidents, mind you. If anything, I'd probably had more chance to get into even more accidents, as my body would've probably been more active than sitting on couch trying to recover. And they really deserve more than just 1 review on Yelp. Though they do have more reviews on Google. What other business has 5.0 out of 5.0 reviews in google? They are professional, and they take pride in their skills and knowledge. Ultimately, they are the true examples of what the this profession should be. I just hope that this review does not make their schedule so full I can't get an appointment. I know that's selfish. and I am sorry for being so selfish that it took me over 3 years (when I first went) before writing this review.

At that point, I was mostly going through the motions of physiotherapy and believed surgery was my only real option. Years of hockey and other sports had left me convinced that the damage to my knee was chronic and likely irreparable. I'll admit I was skeptical, as I hadn't benefited from physiotherapy in the past. Working with Gevorg completely changed my perspective. What sets Gevorg apart is how clearly he explains the biology of the body, how it responds to trauma, how chronic injuries develop, and most importantly, how healing actually happens. That understanding made a huge difference for me and helped me trust the process. Since starting treatment, my knee and overall leg strength have improved drastically. I've also seen significant improvement in long-standing back and wrist issues in just a few months. Most surprisingly, I've started running, something I've never done in my life and always hated. Yes, I've joined the cult. At this point, I don't anticipate needing surgery at all. I truly cannot say enough good things about working with Gevorg at Physioworks. I also like how it has a glass door (wave to open) to separate the treatment areas from the reception waiting area. This place is where you can get massage therapy and acupuncture treatments. Each room is relaxing with tranquil or spa music being played (playlist is dependent on each practitioner). There is a basket to put your clothes and phone in the acupuncture treatment room. I see Dr Koh for acupuncture and she is wonderful. Very caring and she listens to your concern. In the past, I dislike needles so she usually uses baby needles or does more cupping on me. Now I still dislike needles but can tolerate them more, so I think she uses the regular needles on me now. Besides just cupping and acupuncture, she is a TCM, so she also takes my pulse to check how my organs/body are doing. She has suggested taking supplements and medicinal tea or avoiding certain food to help with the ailments. The front desk staff is always very friendly. Paid street parking out front. Sometimes I park at Anvil Center if there is no spots and walk across.

I appreciated his explanation and his demeanor. 2. I always used to say "I have never heard of someone who was healed by a chiropractor, but I know a lot of people who go all the time." As a result of Shaun's care, I know why they go. I'm inclined to believe that more often then not it's because it feels good, rather than because they need it. 3. You know when you see an RMT and you're like "man, I wish you would put a little more muscle into it?" Yeah, well, that's what chiropractors are for. 4. No B.S.? He healed me. When I walked in I was truly suffering from some neck woes that meant I couldn't look both ways evenly. I got about 90 degree rotation on the left, but only about 80 on the right. When I left, I could go 90 either way. So I'm a fan. The office assistant was nice, the place was clean, I was fixed and comfortable... and now I'll be back. Probably for that other neck thing he said he'd do when I was comfortable with chiropractic treatments. And after that? Well, my pinky hurts, so I should probably go get an adjustment.

There was no pain whatsoever. It's been a couple of days and it seems I'm sleeping better. My nervous system has slowed down. I scheduled another treatment and I expect it may take a few more before the results are obvious and tangible. I'll update again if/when that happens.

I've since seen several different RMTs here, and have been pleased with the results each time. I usually go for basic maintenance; my hips have a tendency to become misaligned, and I've been properly re-adjusted every time. Last year I strained my achilles tendon, and the RMTs at Tonume definitely helped to speed up my recovery. They were also life-savers after I had surgery on my wrist this past summer. I had to do everything with my non-dominant hand/arm, and those poor muscles were not used to all the stress. I don't know what I would have done without regular massages on my arm and back then! I've also gone just to get some quiet relaxation time in. Some of the RMTs are a bit chatty, but I find if I mention I would like to relax when I'm booking an appointment, they are a bit quieter once the massage has started. It used to be fairly easy to just walk in or call and get an appointment with very short notice. In the past few months I've found it's gotten a lot more difficult to book, so be sure to book in advance (especially towards the end of the year when everyone is trying to use up their benefits). They do have an online booking system, which is usually handy, but it did fail on me once, which made for a particularly disappointing afternoon when I showed up only to find I didn't actually have an appointment. He did some massage, and we mostly worked on teaching me simple exercises to get me back in shape for hiking. I've seen him half a dozen or more times over a period of months, each time given exercises that were targeted to where I had progressed to at that time. I just told him I felt ready to go back to hiking, and he suggested three exercises I can do for "maintenance" (my term). I would happily go to him again for help with any pain or body problem. He's very professional, pleasant, and helpful. P.S. My wife has benefited from his physical therapy before I first say him, and she recommended him to me. A different physical therapist (at a different place) had given her exercises that caused her greater pain and disability. Alex gave her a new, different diagnosis and exercises, and she soon was greatly improved.

The facility is also very nice, brand new, and conveniently located. I've been seeing Krysta, and she is so on top of things. She seems to know her stuff cold, is very easy to talk to and explains things well. She is also good at communicating with your healthcare team so your doctor is aware of what's going on. The first appointment which is the assessment was invaluable for me in getting a proper diagnosis and prognosis. Now I'm on a treatment plan and we've set some goals to reach for which is always a good strategy. Oh also, another thing that is great is that when you pay, they can directly bill your insurance company which saves you paperwork. Overall, would highly recommend coming here!
