Plaza de Espana y La Fuente

This photo gives a general overview away from the crowds but the atmosphere was very vibrant. A sweet granny dancing like she was 20 ago hyping up the crowds to traditional Spanish music. As you can see a misting fountain really helped with the hot sunny weather in October! Phew Take a boat ride the moat and be prepared for a workout as you will be rowing your way around this scenic wonder.

This is one of the most iconic landmarks in Seville. The plaza was not too busy when we visited. There were people on carriages rides, kids playing with giant soap bubbles, and flamenco performers tapping away to intricate rhythms. One of my favorite parts was checking out the tiled alcoves that surrounds the plaza, as each presents a different image and represents a different province of Spain. We also did a boat ride along the canals, which I'd highly recommend doing if you have the time. It is a fun activity that offers a unique perspective of the architecture. It costs about 6 euros for half an hour and 10 euros for an hour. I also recommend walking up to the second floor of the plaza. From there, you see a stunning view of the surrounding gardens, fountain and the canals. Overall a must visit if you are in Seville. You won't regret it!

Plaza de España- Amazing in every way! A beautiful place to stop, meander, meetup with friends, or just soak in the beauty. This was my all time favorite stop in a whirlwind tour of Seville. It's also where many filming have taken place such as the classic "Lawrence of Arabia" and "Star Wars". Built in 1929, the design was built to showcase multiple styles of architecture. Fabulous angles and views from multiple locations. I can see why this has been chosen for many filming sites. Whether just a day or a week in Seville, do make sure you include the Plaza de España in your itinerary!

Free flamenco shows occur frequently in the Plaza de España. Just for tips.

The Plaza de España is a spectacle of light and majesty. I have come here day and night because the experience is completely different. Framed in the María Luisa Park, this plaza was designed by the great Sevillian architect Aníbal González as an emblematic space for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929. The result was a plaza-palace unique in the world. There are hand painted tiles showcasing all Spanish provinces along with a map of each of them, their larger cities and something about the history of the province. The fountain runs until 10pm at night, so get there before that so you can admire the beauty of lights and water. This is one of the public places in Seville where you can catch a FREE flamenco show. Usually in the afternoons. The dancers perform for tips, just give them a few euros.......

Stunning historic landmark and a must see in spectacular Sevilla. Gorgeous architectural style and just simply beautiful to walk around and admire the detail and the history. Located in the María Luisa park it's free to visit and there's a little boat ride you can do in the canal. Also great for people watching and of course you can take some stunning pictures. You can do a guided tour as well which you do pay for. Or I just really enjoyed walking around admiring its majestic presence. Absolutely beautiful .

When visiting Seville, the Plaza de Espana is an obligatory tourist spot. Several movies have been filmed here (from Lawrence of Arabia to Star Wars), so why not come and check it out. It's located in Maria Luisa park and it's full of gardens, alcoves, tiles, fountains, instagrammable spots, and peace and quiet. Built in the 1920s for an exposition, I think they did an exceptional job to have a place for people to come and enjoy being outdoors for decades to come. It's quite spacious, despite the number of people who were there and it's a learning opportunity as you visit each provincial alcove to study the tiles and see what they're trying to convey. Also don't forget to take a pic with the famous post located on the bridge. It's unmistakable.

05/04/23 - Absolutely Amazing The Plaza de Espana The Plaza de España is a plaza in the Parque de María Luisa in Marin Seville, Spain. It was built in 1928 for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929. It is a landmark example of Regionalism Architecture, mixing elements of the Baroque Revival, Renaissance Revival and Moorish Revival (Neo-Mudéjar) styles of Spanish architecture. I was surprised to find out that this was built relatively recently by comparison to many of the other buildings in Spain. The architecture carries an old world feel & by that I mean the mixed elements of the renaissance revival, baroque revival & moorish revival creates a beautiful blend that form a cohesive unit. You can still see trace elements of each style. I could go on but pictures are worth a thousand words.

This is one place that you go to that will take your breath away! It is so stunning and peaceful to walk around in during the early morning hours. (Tip: The earlier in the day that you visit, the less crowded it is.) This is one of the best places I visited on my trip to Spain. Definitely a must go to!

This place is ginormous where you can spend hours roaming around the famous square. I learned about the different provinces of Spain and love the painting on each province. The square is free and easy to get to. There were a couple of flamenco shows near the main steps and it was nice to see another one. You can hire a row boat since there's a river inside the plaza. Tons of photos opportunities and it was majestic! Must see while in Sevilla!

Agree w/ the other reviews - this is a MUST SEE, and one of the largest plazas in Europe. Featured in "Lawrence of Arabia" and "Star Wars" (Episode 2). Built for the Ibero-American Expo of 1929. So many great photo opportunities. And it's free to look around. There is also great flamenco dancing in the center area. The whole plaza is absolutely beautiful, spectacular, scenic, ... so many pretty tiles everywhere, also a fountain, a moat, ... so much to see & appreciate. FYI the nearest restroom is across the street at the W/C, and costs .60€ to use the toilet.

A beautiful and historical place in Seville. You can walk around to enjoy the detailed architecture, relaxing vibe, and also take some nice pictures!

Amazing photo ops here! This building is located inside a park and has a little pond with boats, gorgeous tile work, and frequent live flamenco performances. Do not miss!

Very beautiful place and clean. Come early morning to avoid crowds. We came right at sunrise and there were very few people.

The Giralda is the bell tower of Seville Cathedral. It was built as the minaret for the Great Mosque of Seville in al-Andalus, during the reign of the Almohad dynasty, with a Renaissance-style belfry added by the Catholics after the expulsion of the Muslims from the area. The Cathedral, including the Giralda, was registered in 1987 as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, along with the Alcázar and the General Archive of the Indies. It remains one of the most important symbols of the city, as it has been since the Middle Ages. The tower is one of the most famous monuments of Moorish architecture in Spain and one of the most refined examples of Almohad architecture. There's a weather vane all the way on the top that moves only with very heavy winds....LOL.... Beautiful at night...all lit up....

Highly recommend climbing to the top to get the most amazing 360 view of Seville. They don't have stairs - instead it's a paved incline that have 35 ramps and then a few stairs at the top ... each floor is marked so you can see your progress. It's not an easy climb - the windows along the way is a great place to catch your breath :) I read that the ramps were built to allow the Sultan to ascend mounted on horseback to see the beautiful view. Your entrance fee to the Seville Cathedral includes the bell tower. Oh, and be warned when the bell towers ring, they are super loud - like I thought I might have gone deaf, lol. I visited during the winter so it was cool inside but during the summer, I heard it gets hot & stuffy ... one of the reviews recommended visiting first thing in the morning.
