It is located on Kilometer 10 in Cancun's Hotel Zone, right in front of Señor Frogs Restaurant. This beach and Gaviota Azul beach are adjacent to each other (I guess separated by the small hill), just .5 Km apart so I consider this one big long wide stretch of beach. But waves here can be bit aggressive some time due to the wind which is not the case in Gaviota Azul beach. Its waters seem calm at first sight, but do not let appearances fool you; the undertow is strong and can be dangerous for inexperienced swimmers Unfortunately, it doesn't have bathrooms or palapas, so if you want to get some shade you will need to rent a big sun umbrella for around 100 to 150 MXN pesos per day.

With our entrance we had access to chairs with umbrellas, snorkeling and the inflatables in the water. The water was refreshing this time of year. The staff is atty and they speak English. If you have a car or scooter there is ample parking. The negative is that there is not a lot of sandy beach to lay around because of the rocks. If you want more sandy beaches there are many public beaches to access. The food was disappointing and overpriced.

Xcacelito is a sanctuary and beach for nesting turtles which is open to the public. The entrance 'fee' is a donation. The beach is breathtaking and one of a kind! The water was warm, pristine and crystal clear. You will not find a lot of folk here all at one time, which is a good thing. You practically feel like you're on a private beach that you own. I couldn't find anything wrong with this destination, except that the beach closes at 4pm and doesn't have much shade. We got here around 1pm. Next time, I would come earlier in the day (it opens at 10) and bring an umbrella but the few hours we spent here was amazing and this was the best beach of the trip. The only thing missing was booze and food. The only food allowed is fruit and water but that is all you really need I guess. Another highlight with this destination, is that It is very close to Dos Ojos Cenote so you can go to both places for a fun day trip. After your Ocean bath, you can enjoy a fresh-water-dip in a beautiful cenote (fresh water sinkhole) situated in the middle of the forest. That is what we did and it made for a perfect ending to our trip. In all, a top quality beach experience. No vendors, no crowds, and no hassles. Right behind Plaza Forum Shopping Mall, at Kilometer 9.5 of Cancun's Hotel Zone lies Gaviota Azul Beach. It is one of the favorite beaches for tourists due to its long and wide strip of white powdered and cool sand as well as the many bars and beach clubs around it. In Cancun, I have been to 8-9 beaches from north to south and found this beach very beautiful. I had been to Playa Norte but due to storm reef-seaweed was all over the shore so could not enjoy there. And I found this beach next to Playa Norte. It is right behind the Hard-rock café-coco bongo nightclubs. You can go inside the water and still you 'll find yourself till waist height. There is one small hill and you can have perfect postcard picture from here with turquoise beach, building, sun and sand. Vendors are there to rent you out reclining chairs and umbrellas for 200-300 pesos. It gets pretty crowded during Spring Break as many events take place on it. Even though most of the time the water is calm, when the wind blows hard the waves get pretty big; an opportunity not missed by local surfers. As this is in the hotel zone, you 'll have to find an access point. Right down to coco bongo signboard, you can find small street going towards the beach. Take that. We found it that good, we even came In the evening to sit on the hill. Breezy wind, waves, sunset, making the time more beautiful. If this beach is not better than not even less than Playa Norte beach.

The water is pretty calm, so no putting up with massive waves. The pelicans stay a good distance away. There's so many options in staggering distance from this beach for bathrooms, cantinas, drinks, shade, whatever. This is the top end of isla mujeres (island of women.) The other end of Isla Mujeres, across the island from this beach is the easternmost point of Mexico! This beach is free. It's not associated directly with any hotel or restaurant, so anyone can come here, and they do.

Shallow waters make it a perfect beach for enjoying both sand and surf. Many boats will pull up to this beach as well and people will get off and wade up to the beach restaurants/bars. We had minimal seaweed when we were there. Many of the beachfront hotels offer umbrellas and beach chairs. You do not have to be a guest of the hotel to use the umbrellas/chairs. They will charge approximately $150 MEX per chair and umbrella. Pay in Pesos. It cost us $450 for all three. That's only about $23 USD for all day so it's very affordable. The only downside is the constant flow of vendors selling everything from massages to trinkets, to beach towels. Don't be surprised if you see various forms of fully armed Mexican law enforcement. Bottom line - Beautiful beaches, soft sand, and perfect water. What more can you ask for.

Of the days We went early in the morning and it was so peace and quiet. Only thing is people maybe trying to sell you sits and you also have to pay 5 pesos to use the bathroom and 15 pesos to shower.

Through our online booking we were told we would be picked up at 10am from our hotel. We were in…read moreour lobby promptly before 10 but no ride was present. We ended up having to contact our booking agency who was able to get ahold of Fragata and we were finally picked up at 10:50. Our van did not have AC, thus we had a very very warm ride to the boat. We were let out of the van and told to walk to the end of the path at La Isla Plaza. We weren't given any further direction and were ultimately approached by an employee because we looked lost. We were directed to check in and ended up having to shelve out $70 we didn't expect to pay. Through our booking agency we were told the transportation was $12, and it ended up being $15 (not a big problem). We were then told there was a $20 dock fee per person. An additional $40 we weren't aware of. (Inconvenient, but not the end of the world). We get on the boat and they immediately start blasting music. The ride was beautiful and the staff were extremely nice. Although their English wasn't the best, we got by and enjoyed them. We pulled up to snorkel (expecting that was the purpose of the trip), and only snorkeled for 30-40 minutes. We were given fins and masks, but no snorkel. We got back on the boat, they let folks jump off the boat, but that was the extent of the swimming. We then got back in the boat and were taken to the restaurant in Isla Mujeres. We went to Ice Bar but never say ice, or the bar. The food was decent. The ceviche was the best part. After sweating outside in the dining area, we went back to the boat and were taken to Isla Mujeres' north beach by boat. Once at the beach, you are bombarded by people peddling trinkets and typical tourist trap nonsense. We weren't given any direction and honestly didn't know we'd be going to Isla Mujeres to walk around at all. If you're booking this for a snorkeling trip, I would avoid it. If you're looking to eat decent food and explore Isla Mujeres's north beach, it's a great idea. The final straw to this adventure was the ride back to hotel in the provided transportation. We got into a cramped van with 8 other patrons and the driver had the A/C off. I know it worked because it was initially on, but dear lord the hour ride back to Playa Del Carmen was insufferable. The window next to me got steamed up and was genuinely one of the worst experiences I've ever had. To the point I considered ordering an Uber to make it back. All in all, quite the adventure.
