This has been consistently the best takeout sushi in the area. Not only is their fish always fresh, but their portions are generous, and they allow you to modify the sides. I dislike ginger on my fish, and this is literally the only place I don't have to worry that a wonderful piece of salmon will be marred by the taste of ginger. The hours here are fantastic, as we often order after work which can be 9 or 10, and their Chinese options are super solid as well. I just realized I haven't sent in this review before and it's been sitting in queue unfinished for over a year. I was coming here to update, but I still love this place so much. I had a carryout order and they forgot one of the many boxes of white rice. I have not even unpacked the bag at my house to serve when I got a call from them. They offered to send out a delivery driver. I told him that was ridiculous that I would come and get it because it's only a box of rice and that seems like a waste of a delivery driver. In the meantime, my kid had tried the chicken teriyaki and had housed the whole serving of it and finding anything that my picky eater will devour is a blessing so I went and ordered another order of it since I was going to be going back anyway. When I arrived, they had my order they asked. Did you order another order and I said yes the kid loved the chicken teriyaki so much. I had to get more.. She said oh good. I have something else for you and handed me a whole additional dish that I did not order this time, but having in the past. They are so thoughtful, the customer service is top-tier, and the quality of food and serving size is top-notch. We love this place. We will not stop going here. Also their new sushi tacos and sushi burritos are amazing and they have all you care to eat sushi every day they are open from 12 to 5.

I was skeptical of the low prices but when the sushi came out, I was so thrilled to see perfectly cooked rice, not too much rice, and lots of fish with large rolls. The fish was super fresh, and they make California rolls with kani/crab salad the way I like it. My favorite rolls are california roll, salmon avocado, and the spicy girl roll. My favorite special rolls are: Tokyo roll, Goldfish Roll, No 99 roll, Pink Lady, Rainbow roll...too many to name! It's worth mentioning that they have all-you-can eat option every day from 12-5pm. It's on a smaller menu that you order a la carte from, but it includes regular rolls, special rolls, appetizers, soups, desserts, and some Chinese entrees. It's $26 per person and such a fantastic value. We also enjoyed their Chinese food and have tried General Tso's chicken and crab rangoon (called crispy crab and shrimp wontons on the menu). Only thing we haven't liked here was the bibimbap (missing a bunch of vegetables and heavy on the rice). I am a little skeptical to try the Thai and Korean food options after the bibimbap. The gyoza and pork dumplings were good though. It is a casual unassuming sushi spot with plenty of seating inside. The service here is nice as well but you order food at the counter - the owner Cheng is SOO nice!! Miso soup has unlimited refills when you dine in. They also provide free spicy mayo with each sushi order. I cannot wait to try out the rest of their menu and will definitely be back often!

Coincidentally, I will be going to the Playa Bowls in Burtonsville today for lunch! I love Playa…read moreBowls (see my 5-star review of the Burtonsville one). That's the only location within 10 miles of my home. The only other location of Playa Bowls I've been to was the Baltimore County one by Quarry Lake. Yesterday, I reviewed the out of town P pick in 2025 alphabet series. Representing the runner up to the out of town pick, P is for Playa Bowls. I visited this location on Friday, December 26. I had a deal for a free peppermint iced coffee with bowl purchase. I had visited my parents in PA for Christmas and was coming back into town. I saw this location wasn't too far off 695. I had never been to Quarry Lake and is a nice area. I was here for one of those weird very late lunch around 4 PM, but I wanted the deal and the timing was right. It was pretty dead around here as it was the day after Christmas. I parked in a parallel spot right in the front; they also have a parking lot in the back. Staff was nice. I paid for some strawberry bowl with peppermint to get the free seasonal iced coffee. They didn't have any issue getting the deal to work. I waited at one of their seats near the food station. This location is a lot bigger than the Burtonsville one. They made the bowl first, and then they said we're out of the flavoring for the coffee, so it'd just be a black coffee. I said that wasn't the same as what I wanted or paid for. They apologized saying that their shipments come in on Thursday, but it was Christmas so shipments didn't come. So, it made sense why they were out. But I think perhaps they could've been more prepared and gotten extra shipment on Thursday, 12/18. They did say I could switch out for a smoothie. I said I don't want a smoothie, I'm already having this fruity bowl. He said I could pick any drink I wanted. I got some juice cleanse drink that was normally $8.99. I figured that could be good for me plus I wanted to ideally get their most expensive tier drink in lieu of not getting the iced coffee. The bowl was delicious per normal. Fresh strawberries, banana, granola, chocolate, peppermint, etc. all great. As for the juice drink, it was some cayenne fruit juice. It was kind of weird, had a bit of a kick, not my cup of tea. I drank it, but really would've liked the iced coffee better. Thankfully, I had some water in the car to wash down the strange juice. So, I was kind of annoyed. They should've known and warned me before I paid. I'm not sure I would've gone with Playa Bowl if they had been out of the coffee; that the catalyst to go down there was the free iced coffee deal. In spite of that negative, like Burtonsville location, the bowls are great, staff is nice, and they did try to accommodate with free any drink.

Its located in the perfect relaxed scenic portion of the Quarry. When I arrived it was a constant flow of patrons at 8pm. Parking isnt chaotic as its plenty from the front to the back. (Two entrance doors for this eatery) Walking in had a feel of being on an oceanfront with the wall decor and choice of colors. The menu of acai bowl options are many. I chose the tropical bowl without really paying attention; thinking it was the most popular one where ever you go. To receive it and its the original base with pineapple, bananas, honey and coconut flakes. It was the perfect acai bowl and tasty. The failure of me paying attention meant great taste of another choice I would probably not have decided on. The light and perfect treat that will have me coming back to Playa Bowls no matter the time.

Upon entry you're greeted with a small, dark and dingy seating area, to add insult to injury it was 80 °F that day and the AC was off. The only reprieve was when a patron opened the door and a brief cool breeze entered. I ordered Shrimp Hibachi w/ Vegetables & White Rice, Spring Rolls, a Shrimp Tempura Roll and a Coke. The Shrimp was overcooked, dry and rubbery while the rice was dry and had shrunk and become firm likely due to sitting too long before serving. The Spring Rolls were crispy and had a nice crunch, although they were small, had little filling and were served lukewarm. The Shrimp Tempura Roll had the same problem with the rice and tasted like it had been prepared too far ahead and improperly stored as the coating on the Shrimp was a little soggy. Even the Coke was disappointing, it was flat and tasted off and was dispensed warm. Overall, it was a bad experience, placing it firmly on the never again list.

Got the shrimp/chicken/beef hibachi with veggies, noodles & rice. The beef and chicken was very fatty and chewy, and most of it was tossed. The shrimp & cabbage were the best things in the bowl. Few pieces of small shrimp. The noodles & rice tasted the same and wasn't worth it. Who puts corn in fried rice?? The yum yum sauce was good, but a bit too sweet for what I was expecting. This place has good prices though, and large portions. Unfortunately, 80% of my meal was thrown away, as i felt it was a waste of calories and fridge space. I would not come back here.
